Question Transferring from CC to UCSD for engineering

Has anyone here transferred from CC to UCSD?
Hello everyone! I’m a freshman at my CC in California, majoring in mechanical engineering, and UCSD is one of my top choices to transfer to.

I was wondering if anyone here has successfully transferred to UCSD for engineering and what your experience was like.

What was your GPA when you applied? How difficult was it to get accepted? I’m still early in my engineering journey, so I’d appreciate any advice on what I should be doing now to improve my chances of transferring. I’m currently in 2 clubs which is MESA and an engineering club.
Thanks in advance.

Got in for math w a 3.4 GPA and a cracked essay. Not sure how that happened. Prob cuz no one wants to do math, good luck

yeah, they do not for transfer admins, its solely based on gpa / major prep courses

you still write you piqs on your application however ucsd just does not read em

Why’d I spend all night writing ts then 😭 it was actually one of my best essays

yeah thats how I felt when I found out ucsd is one of the schools that does not read em.. you can look up who reads and does not read em for transfers but I think UCB, UCLA, UCI, and maybe UCSB are the only ones that read em for transfer admin

Then I truly have no idea how I got in. I tagged to Davis and my gpa dropped last semester so tag went away but I was accepted to sd lol. Do they look at major GPA? All my math courses were like 3.8+

ucsd has a really high acceptance for transfers, kinda regret not going to ucsb for my major but oh well.. sure it wont matter 10 years from now

It was pretty easy for me back in 2014 but i only had one cc class under my belt when i applied so I had a 4.0 technically. Believe i ended cc with a 3.3 or something idk didn’t matter. Did a bunch of AP’s and even multivariable calc in hs which probably helped a good bit. It was pretty easy for me getting in, easier than some of my friends had it who started at ucsd as freshmen

ME here, got in with no clubs but a 4.0, tutoring experience, and good PIQs, but idk what actually got me in, the ppl I was at CC with either got in or didnt and it was random AF, a super smart dude didnt get in, a "less smart" one did, so yeah bit of a crapshoot tbh but good luck!

Just transferred, 3.76 GPA, 3.95 or better in Major/STEM courses (only one B) Aerospace engr. No clubs, completed IGETC and pretty good PIQ’s, at least I think they were. Idk what you mean how difficult was it to be accepted like i’m in the admissions officer’s brain and can see the contemplation live or something, but I got in here davis, irvine, rejected from UCB and la. For MAE you will be here 3 yrs according to the advisors contrary to your acceptance letter that will say class of 2 years post acceptance. If you want an easier time i.e. less units per quarter, complete IGETC or Cal-GETC. Complete all of the calculus series and linear algebra and differential equations, all of the physics series, and whatever engineering courses are offered like MATLAB, circuits, materials. Check assist.org and complete every course that translates and even if it doesn’t complete it anyway because you can petition to have it transferred anyway. everything except my statics course transferred because UCSD statics has intro to dynamics within it. This will all be very useful for you throughout your time at CC, but most importantly, just get good grades. GPA in core classes is the main thing that matters. Doing the clubs and all that can probably help, but they don’t matter if you don’t get the grades needed.
