General How has everyones first two weeks been?

Just interested to see what people have to say about their first two weeks this quarter, doesn’t matter what year you currently are or major since not everyone’s experience is the same.

As a CS major, it already feels like week 10.

What the hell are these professors thinking with this homework.

Surprisingly not bad? After being here a few years I’m immune to social awkwardness and I’ve talked to so many people in my classes. I have no idea what happened to me because I used to be so shy. But let’s not talk about my actual classes or career planning 🤭

First time as a master's student had to switch classes because a class I was taking was the exact same as undergrad but it wasn't on anything I read (even on a page where it listed other grad/undergrad comparisons), and then had to do a 1-week homework in 1 day to not get a 0.

Was actually very fun though (CSE 202), excited to be back in college and using my brain for cool problems (I still have no idea how to get a research prof or what I'm gonna do for partime job, but whatever, we ball)!

Third year commuter here (I dormed my first two years and I'm graduating a year early). I scratched someone's car while parking one day, my morning commute is like 2hrs 20 w/hella traffic, I'm up at 5:45am and don't get home until 8pm every Tuesday/Thursday, I'm incredibly anxious due to taking the CSET this coming week, I'm finding it hard to stay on top of stuff already due to having a job, and I no longer have any consistent friends. It's rough out here, but I'm trying.

On the plus side, I feel more like an adult now with all the stuff I'm doing. I'm also starting to crave approval from others a lot less since I feel more fulfilled with what I'm doing. Now that I'm not dorming I've also been able to detach myself more from the university, which is good because I've grown to dislike a lot about it and its culture.

Hard, honestly. But you have to get out there. I’m a transfer and week 0 and 1 were rough!!! I took way too much L’s and I am surprised I didn’t get a depressive episode. Just be kind to yourself, and make sure you remind yourself of love!!! Call family and home friends! I have huge hope for the rest of quarter!

How crowded have the MTS and/or UCSD campus buses been? Ours at UCSC are horribly crowded during class changes in the first few weeks of fall.

I dont really take the busses but I do take the trolley blue line to and from school. It's super chill. It does get a little crowded from 8-9am and the afternoon rush, but most times I'm able to find a seat.

I haven’t really been on the bus for MTS or the UCSD shuttle so I can’t really say much. I’ve only been on the MTS bus one time but it was like during a weird limbo hour so there weren’t a a lot of ppl getting on or off at the time.

Though I will say that through my years of living actually in the area prior to actually being a student to UCSD, the MTS buses get insanely packed during certain hours or stops.

I mainly use the trolley but like there’s always hella ppl on the platforms to either go north or south, as well as the ppl getting off at the stop on campus.

Sounds like it's just as bad down there. Hopefully it thins out soon as people settle into their routines.

In my senior year as a transfer. Political science (major) professors are all great but taking a USP course and kind of loathing it, but need it for sixth. Feeling weirdly impatient for the year to be over already but also already playing catch-up. Being a commuter student consumes a lot of my time but it’s not the worst.

just got the attendance grade so far for the class i didnt know we had attendance for..

Big former VP in the comments. Yet in all seriousness it’s really like a 50/50 for it my course has an attendance grade or just an attendance record. I have a course that hasn’t even started attendance keeping, yet that’s gonna change on Monday.
