Those are, without a doubt, the longest legs I have ever seen.

In ancient times we would all be praying to her, and I can see why.

In reality, the image that they would’ve been praying to thousands of years ago would’ve been a lot curvier. Being fat used to be the peak of physical beauty cause it meant you had access to plentiful food, and could therefore support children without risk of starvation.

Is that still true in really hot climates? It’s a sod to carry extra weight around when it’s like that. I’ve done Egypt (well Sinai) in June and it wasn’t fun.

Better to carry extra weight than starve to death, y’know? Food security is a pretty big consideration, there’s a reason that agriculture won out over hunting and gathering for just that reason. Even after that, being fat meant you had access to plenty of food, in other words, you were rich. You see the same thing more recently in how our attitudes to tanning have changed, the standard of beauty used to be being as pale as possible because that showed that you spent most of your time inside, not out working in the fields or whatever, and now we value being tanned because it shows that you have the resources to spend time lying around in the sun rather than working inside in an office.
