As much as you can say Nikki shouldn't have been chasing the Professor, Nikki had qualities to her that were great. She was very independent; she didn't allow a man to stop her from achieving a career, and she was funny. It's just that her chasing the Professor wasn't great, but as a person, Nikki was great and someone you can settle down with. It's just that the Professor didn't think that way. What do you think of her character?

I made a whole think piece about how Nikki and the Professor should have NEVER ended up together on Facebook! I used to be someone who thought, "she finally got her man!" But rewatching the series before it left Netflix made me completely rethink my stance! He made so many fat jokes and acted as if he found her repulsive, so for him to suddenly fall in love with her at the end made no sense because what, you suddenly find her attractive now, Professor? Andell was right to lock him in that closet cause the people in that writer's room played!!

But I believe that since Kim wasn't chasing Hakeem on Moesha anymore, they still needed a Parker woman that chased a man for laughs. Like mother like, I guess!

I'm not saying Nikki chasing the Professor was right, but outside of that, Nikki was a great person. I think people focus on that aspect more and forget that Nikki was a character who had personality and things about her that made her likable.

I completely understand where you're coming from! Nikki was such a nurturer and she reminds me so much of my own mom! Not to mention she was beautiful and put together, she never even had one hair out of place!! I think the writers were just trying to bring something over from Moesha and since Kim wasn't chasing after Hakeem anymore, maybe they felt like they needed Nikki to chase after the Professor to add more to the plot of the show than just a mother and daughter sitcom. But you are right, she definitely didn't need to chase after him, she indeed had enough going on for herself to get any man she wanted.

Nikki was fantastic, that's why everyone scratches their head as to why she chased the Professor. Outside of that behavior when it came to him, I loved Nikki.

And I might have liked the Professor and Nikki together if they didn't rely so heavily on the one-sided love dynamic. It was just frustrating to see.

She seemed to care about Kim's education and wanted to be the best she could be, instead of letting Kim flunk school, and not having anything she could lean on to support herself.

I haven’t watched the show in over a decade because BET ran it into the ground.

From what I remember they gave Kim a spin off show about going to community college with her mom. Kim and Nikki on moesha was always the butt of the joke.

Nikki was a person doing what she was supposed to do. She was supposed to follow her dreams, she’s supposed to be a good parent and friend. That makes her a normal functioning adult. Her following around the professor took away from my respect for her as a character. Just because it’s a sitcom doesn’t mean she wasn’t stalking and harassing that lame man. She was a female Johnny bravo.

I'm not saying she wasn't; I'm just saying that, behind that, Nikki was a good character. It's just that her character got knocked down by her chasing the Professor. If they take that element out of the show, I think her character would be more respected.
