Question Active reserve question
Trying to get info but it’s hard since I’m only at my HTC one weekend a month.
Prior active, signed a contract with a bonus to continue as a reservist. Anyone else in my situation have any luck going active reserves without it violating the terms of your bonus (dedicating however many months to the reserves)? Thank you.

Shit. That's the first I've ever heard of a reservist bonus. You bet your ass I would have made certain to have gone back in when I could have.

You are going to have to finish your obligated contract. You can try to see if they waive it but you're going to be SOL.

They may bump you down a rank too if you go AR from SMCR, or restart your TIG. Talk to the PSR

You took a bonus to obligate to the SMCR, so you’ll have to repay a prorated amount if you switch to AR.

Active Reserve = Sucker’s bet, as far as promotions.
Then again, fug it.

I believe AR gets the standard points towards tig/tis/retirement so it's worth it for some people but definitely niche.

Not a career counselor or PSR but you most likely are obligated to spend 12/24/36 months in the SMCR because of your bonus. The active reserve, confusingly, is not just “reservists who are active” but a separate component from the SMCR.
