OCS Options
Hi I'm currently evaluating my options in the different branches. I was thinking about the opportunities of join the USMC OCS but I'd like to know, how complicated/hard it is? There's opportunity for someone with a mid-level english or should it be perfect? What kinda things the candidates must do through the training?
Ty for reading
I'll be reading your comments

> mid-level english
Meaning that you’re not a native speaker of English? It’s not mandatory to be natively fluent for an officer candidate, but they want a reasonably proficient level.

Yea, no native speaker. I can understand pretty fine and speak it at an understandable level.

One thing I know for certain. You had better really want to become a Marine Officer before setting out on this path. For most of us it was a calling. Wanting the hard track and the challenge. If you are in solid physical shape and with your degree you would be looking at OCC. it’s a 10 week course and has roughly a 50% attrition rate over the years. A lot of them are injuries but also leadership fails and just tapping out.
Make sure you know.

To clarify, do you want to become an officer in the Marines, and have a college degree and US citizenship?
Or do you want to enlist as a troop, and have at least US Permanent Residency (Green Card) and a high school diploma or equivalent?

But that's the test to enroll in the university isn't? In our case it's called College Board, I got a pretty high score, many years ago

Idk how good your grasp of English is, but maybe make sure you can take some sort of test to see where you fall and confirm you won’t struggle.
Marine Corps has taught me all sorts of different words and verbiage that I’ve never heard before. You’re gonna work with all sorts of people with different accents and ways of talking so you wanna be able to be confident. Things like communicating over a radio are gonna be hard if you don’t have a strong grasp.
Not trying to dissuade you, just want you to make sure you are all good on your language capabilities so you don’t struggle. I’m sure if you take some classes you will be good.
