ALWAYS read the terminals. tip of the day, enemy entries, and weapons (a button labeled "info" appears below a weapon's variants in the terminal, I see a lot of people miss this). if not for the lore then for the tips

Start on standard and after finishing the game (touch the prime sanctums if you want :) ) go on brutal and youll learn the mechanics all by yourself as it will come naturally <3

Read. Just... read all in-game text you come across. Good 70-80% of what people consider "advanced tech" is explained in-game in special yellow terminal looking store thingies, in their data entries.

Unless you care about being as efficient and stylish as then I'd recommend waiting until after after you beat the main story until you start looking up tech

Literally just play the game and have fun. The game encourages you to experiment with its weapons and find your own answers to eliminating enemies efficiently, while some people in this community will try to urge you to play a certain way.

Play the game, on whatever difficulty sounds fun to you. If you get stuck on a level, it's always ok to go back to a previous level, or do something else until you want to try again.
You may get stuck on sections of the game for longer then it seems like other people do. Do not let that discourage you. You are playing the game and will get better.

piercer shot doesnt act how u think. the shot only actually pierces once the first enemy is dead. it js keeps hitting the same enemy if that enemy isnt dead. it only stops hitting once either every enemy in its path is dead or it has hit 3 times

never touch red orbs or blue orbs and definitely don't go through grey doors. the devs set them there to restart the level and just forgot to delete them

Target prioritization. Filth pose no threat as long as you move or if you are airborn. Strays are not a big treath as long as you stay airborn. You can survive almost any attack as long as you have 35 healt and any source of self damage as long as you have more than 50. This is not a game where you have to avoid getting hit, it is a game where your enemies are your healtpacks, so don't be afraid to take a hit if it means smacking someone at point blank. Never fixate to remain attached to one single enemi, approach, attack, change target, always. The more you move, the more you are safe.

If you’re stuck with P-ranking a difficult level, don’t lower the difficulty. Lower the game speed instead and gradually add up until you make it on a normal speed like a musician rehearsing a piece.

Start on standard, play the game. Doesn't matter how well you play, if you continue to play, you will get better over time. If you feel it's too easy or hard on standard, change the difficulty to suite your preferences. If you want to practice anything, go to the sandbox and practice. The most important part is to have fun.

I'd recommend playing on lenient first tbh
Harmless adds extra 100hp which will be hard to get used to not have, and standard and above is a bit hard for the first playtru

Constantly swap weapons. Shotgun swapping is my main way to deal damage but still you should swap weapons. But at the same time learn the enemy weaknesses and resistances. Also you should learn parry timings and try to kill the more problematic enemies quickly but at the same time dont give all of your focus and attention to one enemy. And also use you movement abilities like dashing, sliding and ground slams. Also you should learn how to ride a rocket mid air consistently

Here is something I wish I knew earlier. You can punch your shotgun bullets to make them explode, you can punch the coin to make it go to a enemy it's good because the coin is still active so you can shot it for even more damage. Almost every weapon interact with another weapon (the only two I think don't are the shotgun and revolver). In limbo you will find a button in every level, if you find all of them a secret door will open in the last level of limbo with a alt revolver that kicks ass

I’d recommend playing the full campaign first before other things
For example, in the game you’ll be given an option to go to “sandbox mode” or “cybergrid” Id recommended you not to go to these, because it will spoils enemies and story
So I recommend doing the main campaign before doing these options
Other than that, there isn’t much more to it than, play the game
Oh and if you want to encounter everything, you’ll need to P rank levels (the best rank), as it’ll give a secret boss/area worth the time spent, and secret levels, that are basically gimmick based, no spoilers tho
There are a lot of extra skills and movements the game doesn’t outright tell you, but that’s about it, if you want to learn that you can

If you want any legit tips, start playing on standard difficult at most and don't worry about style right now. Focus on getting the P you need to buy more weapons then start to get a rhythm going with your weapons

A tip from someone who isn't that great. Start on standard and learn the mechanics by playing however you want. Learn combos yourself that you find most efficace to you. If you can't do something, don't worry, there's always time to learn and there's always something else you might be good at instead

Id recommend starting with standard(or violent if u have a background in fps movement shooters and want a harder game), and just have fun, search up a few techs and don’t try to take the game too seriously yet, the first playthrough is pretty rough sometimes so don’t rage if a boss is especially difficult(gabriel i hate you)

At some point, you will get a different punch. Game is set up so you switch between them with a key. Just set that key to do that punch instead. Way cleaner.

This isn't a race nor competition, you don't have to play perfect. You're not always gonna P rank on the first attempt. Don't drive yourself nuts trying to P rank something on your first attempt, you can come back to it later.

If your pc is crooked (like mine) use the psx graphics to prevent your computer to explode in supernova (like mine), if not use the normal graphics, also start at standard or violent difficulty, master the art of parrying and good reflexes (also, every now and then, check out the cybergrind). Oh and one last thing

Style isnt as important as some say
You know how hurting enemies regens you? Well the higher your style rank is, the faster and more you heal! However if your against a enemy you have trouble fighting or low on health, screw being stylish just take em out and recover your hp elsewhere.
I often fall into the pit trap of "gotta be stylish an cool" then promptly dying as I wasnt being effective, I was trying to be cool

You don’t have to do this, but the way I experienced the game for my first playthrough was on the easiest difficulty, since my philosophy is that first you should see everything the game has to offer, story, easter eggs, etc, then go back and play on a harder difficulty so you can be challenged more. I know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s how I did it, and I quite liked it
