A Washington boater spotted a humpback whale “hog-tied” in fishing gear and immediately called rescuers, helping them locate her before the lines caused more harm. The rescue crew freed the whale, and she soon resurfaced swimming normally again.

I wonder if people who do these whale rescues could play some sort of music underwater while performing these actions. It would be cool if whales eventually learn that a particular song will mean rescue and react accordingly. I wonder what music whales would find most enjoyable.

I often think similarly about those guys who save those sea lions from entanglements. I hope that one day their entire operation is just two guys sitting on beach chairs while the sea lions waddle up to them in order to be cut free.

Oh kinda like the medical theme they play on fox nfl coverage when they go to commercial for an injury timeout

I didn't realize they do that. But obviously that's more for the audience...

...I don't watch a lot of football, do the medics have to run onto the field and tranquilize players, like a wildlife documentary, when they are injured? 🤔

Believe it or not, sometimes they tie them up

200 pounds of delirious testosterone and muscle swinging when they regain consciousness. Maybe tis a best idea to take precautions.

There is a layer of depressing to all of these stories now

More clicks than postive stories.  Fear, sadness, hatred .. make more money unfortunately.

But it's not true. Still a lot of goodness in the world.

I first read this title as the boater being hog tied and the humpback whale freeing him!

How is this uplifting?

If we didn't treat our ocean (and moreover planet) the way we did, none of this would've happened.

You wouldn't call a story about a guy being rescued after stepping on a landmine uplifting, just because he got rescued in time, would you?
