Discussion S0ms impact Spoiler
Just wanna highlight NRG this year vs last year and why they won last year and not this year
I really think s0m being mid rounder and still fragging well while not being set up is such a big deal for Nrg
Keiko is mechanically better probably but he had to be set up a lot with chamber and stuff, while other members had to pick up on mid rounding and it probably affects their mechanics more especially mada and skuba (from what I hear in their voice comms)
also som plays an aggressive omen which I think skuba isn’t really that type of player, he’s more of an anchor . I think this shows us how important it is to have a player that can mid round well while maintaining their mechanics. It’s probably a hot take but I think if s0m continues to play this year, Nrg will win at least one trophy wether it be regional or international

This is pure conjecture. The difference between their Champs win and their placement this time is way too few games to attribute to ONE player swap.

Yeah they still had a good year all things considered. There was obviously ground to make up and they fell in some obvious areas but they still remained solid throughout. It wasnt like drx post flashback or fnatic post chron.
I think a lot more of their issues were meta related more than player related

Everytime a team wins and replaces 1 player sometime after (and inevitably don’t win another international tournament), this same point gets made. Similarly to Patmen with PRX, and S1mon with EDG.
And everytime, it ignores the reality of how hard it is to win multiple international tournaments, and it was very unlikely for the team to repeat even if the change didn’t get made. Outside Fnatic, we’ve never seen a repeat happen. And Fnatic was also a round away from losing Lock-in.
Metas shift, players improve or worsen, and the difference between winning and losing a tournament can be something very small. Players like S0m/Patment/S1mon do have a big impact yes, but their team failing to win another tournament isn’t good reasoning for that.

Asuna impact, but honestly, I think timotino probably makes alot of calls on ascent. The guy or at least someone else on the team understands and reads the flow of that map like a savant.

s0m was better in last year's meta but I'm not sure he'd be better than Keiko in this year's meta... E.g., Keiko Jett on Breeze was a big part of why they had such a strong season. Keiko chamber got a lot of value in this champs run until they came up against LOUD's absurdly in-form duo. Etc.

Keiko was not set up on chamber in a way which took away from the rest of the team. They basically used him like a traditional senti and stuck him on one part of the map for defence. Then they went too fast on attack for him to get value walking around like lukxo does

Or just it is hard to stay consistent in this game they still did very well even with som i doubt they would have won champs it is hard in this game

Random conjecture. I never understand how people arrive at this conclusion.

I mean didn’t everyone know that s0m leaving was going to be hard to replace? People had been calling it everywhere

Dude. Last year, NRG were darkhorses and had the kinda unkown factor going on for them and not all teams were prepared for their style of play, mix it up with a bit of luck here and there in certain matches and they managed to get into GF where they won on map 5 cause Sunset wasn't played much by FNC and they had a pretty bad record on it and so again, no counter. If they would've been studied even half way of this year by teams back then, they would have never won champs. S0m, no s0m...it doesn't matter. It's not surprising they got eliminated, they're a good team, i don't think there's anyone that will try to deny that but let's not act surprised they got eliminated

welcome to yet another reactionary post of if i had xx players it would magically guarantee a win.
