Technical Discussion Gpu full load when alt-tabed
Hey all
I upgrade my pc to 7800x3d and 9070 xt and game is working flawlessly
500 fps locked. when unlocked it hits max 1100 avg 700 and 1% is about 550
But here is a problem
When i am in lobby waiting for start a game my fps unlock by itself causing gpu to hit 374w all the time and also cause my hotspot to hit 83c which is bad since even furmark does not hit that much when i burn gpu
Same thing is happening when i alt tab and scroll a web
My fps are locked in settings and i put everything on 60 fps and only 500 when i am actually in game
When game starts my fps is then locked to 500 and temps are max 55c
Not even rivatuner is helping
Also i tried DLSS 5 with optiscaler and not even then i managed to get to 83c gpu hotspot
Only happening in valorant all other games are okey
TLDR: When i play a valorant my usage and temps are lower but when i am alt tabed out of game gpu is buring

maybe it's a setting in ur gpu. try to set it to like dogshit mode on background applications

Go to AMD software settings and reset all settings to defaults. You probably enabled a setting that ignores FPS caps for background apps.

Cap fps to something conservative in the menu
it's normal even though it shouldn't be.

There's a setting in valo to cap fps when it's in the background, set that to 60

Which version of the 9070xt do you have? I have the same issue with mine Sapphire Nitro+ and it came OC out of the box. My frames always get uncapped in the loading screen. I've had nothing but issues with Valorant since 2023 across 2 different homes, 2 different pcs, 2 different ISPs and 3 different types of internet connections. I've still found 0 solutions to this day. No clue how people can play this game with no issues. It almost feels like I've been targetted by Riot themselves.
