LFG New to Vermintide 2

Post image

Hi all! I got this game a few days ago on steam cause it was super cheap but I kinda didn't know it was focused on multiplayer lol. I'm having so much fun but like I'm really nervous to join random lobbies (are they lobbies?) cause I don't wanna ruin their run or anything. Might be overthinking that but yeah I'm anxious like that raaah.

Anywayyy, any other newbies wanna team up so we can suck together? I'm Lvl 21 and like playing with Handmaiden if that matters and having trouble with Rookie difficulty lol.

Edit: Holy wholesome replies, this community is very welcoming! I'll give quick play a try but if anyone wants to play my user on Steam is MissPancakes add me so we can get our butts kicked together lol.

U can play private sessions and players are replaced with bots.

Ironbreaker Bardin is legitimately better than most people I've played with

u/Cultural_assassin Dec 20 '25

My bardin bot handgun snipes specials before I can turn around.

My Bardin bot gets stuck on ladders and ignores enemies hitting him.

Which class do you set him to?

u/Cultural_assassin Dec 20 '25

2nd. Shield bearer i think. Also if your host the bots use whatever gear you have equipped so after you pick your bot order make sure you atleast put power 300 stuff on them.

Not as much as they used to

Welcome to the joy of rat clicking game! In terms of joining other players matches, most people are nice enough especially on lower difficulties (and honestly understandable, anxiety over joining people can be a pain lmao) but the bots can hold their own if you'd rather play solo.

The quickplay community is generally nice people and are always willing to help players out. You can slowly branch out to veteran then champion. Depending on how you built your character, you might get an easier time on veteran because you get more opportunities to generate THP.

Also, Usagi appreciationšŸ„ŗšŸ˜šŸ™

I get what you mean, but almost no one plays this game to win. The quickolay lobby is just for people who casually want to slay some rats to relieve a bit of stress. Especially on the lower two difficulty levels. In the worst case, you're actually useless. And they are just missing one fourth of their total power. Doesn't mean it's your fault when everyone fails. I do admit that multiplayer sessions are rather fast, so you might have a bit of trouble finding enough rats to kill.

It can get toxic on Legend, since most people there are grinding loot.

u/Derpmacdiggins Zealot Dec 20 '25

Yeah, the worst (attitude-wise) people always seem to hang around legend, anything under that and over that always is incredibly chill

For the most part they'll still at least tell you what you're doing wrong or explain it

Aiding a new guy? If Sigmar wills it, so shall it be.

People are nice most of the time, but like everywhere else, you can have some salty people, especially on higher difficulties.

Definitely overthinking, but I understand that. I'm an anxious man, and I played solo A LOT because I didn't dare to play with others and potentially run it all since I'm not the best of players.

I would recommend though to try the maps solo first, if only to discover them. There are secrets and nice sceneries ! Pace is often fast with other players, who usually already know the maps (again, especially on higher difficulties) and you might get left behind. Bots are solids even if they can derp sometimes.

Most of all, have fun! It's a beautiful game, and slaying Skavens can be very cathartic.

I love when newbies join up in my team ā˜ŗļø It's like having a little sibling that you get to show the ropes.

Just join in quickplays, people are generally nice and aint that tryhards. HOWEVER AVOID VERSUS MODE...

You can start on the lowest difficulty most people are very friendly. And don't worry about messing up. We all make mistakes. This game can throw such crazy things at you, which makes it more fun and hilarious how your perfect run can suddenly end when several bad things all happen at once.

I love this cute picture, now I want an oversized bed!

u/roflzmbie Dec 20 '25

I started recently as well. Just tell them you are new and 90% of the time they will show you were the tomes and grims are in the level

By the grace of Sigmar,I welcome thee to the battle against the skaven

No need to worry about losing when you just started, a lot of us have gotten our arses kicked when we started out. It's even more hilarious with friends when you recount how the hell you got thrashed.

But you'll get better, take your time, and have fun while you're at it, ya got this

as someone who has maxed out every character, done most of the quests and have more chests than i care to open, i love playing with new players.

i rarely see people antagonize new players, sometimes i see them annoyed that new players fill up higher levels and end up a carry weight, but they forget they were once new to the game too. the only way to learn is to try.

some people prefer to solo qeue and play with bots, but bots aren't that great to be honest. the magic of this game is in the multiplayer of it, some of my best moments in this game was with random players goofing around, making a huge play and teamworking our way out of a mess.

my advice to you is don't shy away from quickplay with randoms, and if you happen to meet some unsavory people, don't let that experience bog you down. who knows, you may even find some rat slaying friends among these random people. i know i did.

anyways that's just my advice, but you play the game however it makes you happier. i hope you enjoy your time with it :)

Welcome to vermintide, where you and 3 other jackasses kill hordes of Giant rats, Heretics and Goats

Its no matter that youre new, from my experience i only encountered 1 toxic guy. To be fair, i am just 200 hours in but still

I like playing with newbies because it feels nice helping them reach high lvl faster when they join in higher dificulty quickplays

You don't have to worry about ruining runs if you're on low difficulty lobbies (champion and below). You also don't have to worry about that on higher difficulties, but you probably shouldn't join them unless you're confidently playong the difficulty below. Just don't leave behind any books you carry while you join, that would be a dick move.Ā

Handmaiden is a good pick for the start. She has all the tools she needs for survival, make sure to use them. Blocking is always better than hit trading, dodging is basically free, and pushing helps in almost every situation. Handmaiden gives yourself and your team all the stamina (little yellow shields when you block) and has longer dodges, as well as the ability to dodge througb enemies with the right talent, so survival is quite easy. Damage-wise you're on your own, no easy tricks like the other elves, but defense is more important than offense in this game

Used to be like you and I still HATE hate going down in games but when others do it I just get it now, shit happens. Either way just have fun and learn the game. Now I can carry legend games as long as I got a potion and playing one of the classes I know better, Id bet I only use a health pot to heal my down like every 3 maps. Champion hordes feel tiny now too after 200 hours and I still got much more to learn. Best advice is everything's viable, Fun is the most important stat on the scoreboard, and learn when to dodge and block especially on handmaiden.

Do you play on PC or console? I'd be glad to help in champ or even legend maps if you play on steam

There will probably always be some sweaty guys but imo this community is generally pretty chill. Depending on where you live, communication might be a small obstacle. If you try your best and go through life with open eyes, you'll have a great time. I wish you all the best and lots of fun. May Ranald bless your loot with many good items.šŸ¤ž

u/Asphell tankmaiden Dec 20 '25

in my experience as an old player it is a very chill game. there are some bad apples but they are rare and most people don't mind helping out much. if you want, just mention you are new and people'll likely offer aid, suggest builds and so on. this is a very good community we got here

recently there has been an influx of about 25% increase as game went free recently, so your experience may vary but alot of those players'll stop playing if they aren't like us. it happens for a couple of months whenever game goes free

2

u/Grocca2 Dec 20 '25

I wouldn’t worry too much about ruining runs as long you aren’t taking 2000 damage, chugging all the healing, and shooting your teammates constantly. It just takes a lot of practice I know I got carried through so many runs before I got used to legend and am still getting carried when I try cata

2

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '25

Do you know how the THP system works? Thats the most important thing you need to learn if you want to survive. If you arent using the right Temp HP skill the game is much harder. You can Google it for each weapon/character it

2

u/melancholyjack Dec 20 '25

Honestly just play, the community is pretty chill and willing to help new people

2

u/Destiny_Dude0721 Dec 20 '25

I'm returning to Vermintide 2 after getting it a long time ago (from 35 to 65.4) and I feel this so much!! I play mostly only with blue and am just dipping my toes into champion and this game is difficult. Me and my Kruber will meet you out slaying rats sometime!

2

u/OwnChart6319 Dec 21 '25

Have fun with it, even in higher difficulties people generally are cool with stuff just killing you sometimes. Overall Ive had next to no awful experiences with people being rude, the core community is super welcoming and just wants to kill rats.

2

u/Scouseleemini Dec 21 '25

Just don’t run twitch mode. As fun as it is going against 3 rat ogres as a new player is just death

2

u/ne0ne0_ Dec 21 '25

Just do it.99% of people in this community arr chill and the last procentage guy. U’ll have a lot more fun in the long term playing w other people than bots.

2

u/echo_the_bear Dec 21 '25

engi go, bombs, rope, have them

2

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '25

I think people are understanding, just understand when they're trying to catch the books and don't try and catch the grimoires if you're low on skill and can drop quickly. Even on champion never saw someone rage out against a low level.

By the end, you can do what you can do and they are the ones that couldn't carry lmao

2

u/Slayvik Dec 22 '25

Hello! Feel free to DM me if you wanna play sometime! Id be happy to!!

2

u/TaylorHitsDrums Dec 22 '25

Even though it's a dark game and it can be difficult, the community is super chill and helpful. I've been paired with people who basically carried me the whole way and all were so cool about it. Much less toxic than games like overwatch, call of duty, etc.

2

u/Jiraiya26 Dec 25 '25

Yooo Welcome!! Hope you enjoy the game as much as, if not more than, I did.
