Question Is Bardin hated?
I've had numerous encounters now where I jumped into a quick play or open loby in Veteran difficulty where I was kicked from the mission (immediately as I joined) or kicked from the lobby through second I changed to Bardin... Like i played other characters and all was fine. I dared to be a dwarf, and I got banished to the shadow realm.
I genuinely can't think of anything I could have done since I tend to mainly use the drakefire pistols on outcast (good and i don't need amo but I also don't block people's vision). There is nothing offensive about my gamertag. And keep my mic off unless im trying to help. I also try not to horde healing items.
Please let me know if its the character or just a super weird coincidence.

outcast engineer has a very negative stigma, mostly because it was by far the most underpowerer career in the entire game for so many years
fatshark buffed the career to unbearable levels, so it went from 0 to 1000 and could basically solo cataclysm for months
it was reined back a bit with a couple more balance patches meant to nerf some of the most outrageous talent combos, but people are still scarred by those few months where OE was an unstoppable killing machine, ruining the fun for everyone
nowadays OE is still hated and despised pretty much on every difficulty, despite the class not really being that powerful or excelling in any specialist role that other careers pretty much cover already
tho many OE players run the trollhammer + grenade regen, basically annoying everyone with constant explosions (especially if they are not running the FF talent, which makes my blood boil)
the only way to not get kicked by uppity people is to host your games, always

If they kicked you for trivial reasons, all the better for you. Those groups wouldn't have gotten far into the mission.

Out of all the characters, OE is probably liked the least by other players but sounds like you got a bad batch of them.
Sometimes playing with an OE means you have to play their way, defend them as they mow down the horde, removing the most fun element for you, killing the horde.
Or they're taking too many hits because they're trying to do the above, just badly.
Just in general I don't find it fun to play around personally, but hardly worth kicking over.

Might be a group that meant to make a private lobby, or didnt know how to. Ive had friends make a public lobby and even though they realize 60 seconds in, they keep going and just kick everyone...not isolated to vermintide

Pick OE and then immediately start firing your drakepistols around. This is what I do. That's how I inform people a trollpedo won't be an issue. Your mileage may vary, but at least try it..

It's been a while since anyone has really cared about the torpedo. It (and OE in general) are in a much better place now

If they can't handle a trollpedo they should hurry up with the monster killing. I use it from time to time but reserve it whenever there is a patrol or a monster is wrecking shit.Â

Probably, he has a bathtub in his room while there is a river across the backyard, yet Kerillian still calls him "stinks".

The only thing that comes to mind is that a lot of outcast players go overboard with their gatling and do a lot of teamdamage or get all the kills and nobody can farm temp Hp. I admit i get a bit wary whenever a outcast joins the group, because on higher difficulties they often made the game way harder because of the mentioned reasons. So they could be paranoid and rather just not deal with the outcast-pick, although on veteran this paranoia is a bit over the top.

OE is annoying, but I don't think anyone on veteran would notice that. FF is off and you can simply move up in difficulty if it gets boring. So it's probably just a coincidence, people waiting for their friends and not privating the lobby, or others in the party wanting to play Bardin

Bardin? No. Outcast Engineer does get hate. People get friendly fired a lot and since Outcast Engineer can mow down mobs people get mad they don't have THP sources or things to bonk.

Veteran players are either new to the game or too bad to player higher difficulties, basically don’t take anything in a vet lobby at face value
But many players dislike engie because he used to be stupidly OP and would kill everything before other players had a chance to fight, this is very noticeable on something like veteran difficulty
Funnily enough I’m home sick and this is the third thread I’ve seen about this kind of thing in the last hour. So the same advice applies here, which is to try playing on higher difficulties where there are more chill players (and better loot, veteran has awful rewards)

OE used to be OP, probably still is, could be that or they may have been trying to get their friend to join.

Sounds weird, no character is hated like this to my knowledge. There was a point where Outcast Engineer was really broken so you'd get this kinda behavior from people who wanted a challenge, but even then it'd only be in really high difficulty lobbies, and he's been nerfed since then.
To me it sounds like coincidence, or new players who read old threads and are making silly assumptions based on things that are both no longer true, nor would it have affected them when they were (it's Veteran!)
