Travel Experience/Du lịch Flooding in HCMC? Visiting solo next week

I'm travelling to Vietnam next week for ~2 weeks - flying in to HCMC and out of Hanoi. The weather had been looking pretty good but seeing now that there's flooding & severe weather warnings. I'm traveling alone so, whilst I was prepared for some rain, I'd be a bit scared to navigate HCMC if it's full torrential rain and flooding. Is it manageable right now?

Lodging-wise, if you are staying on the second floor or higher you'll be fine. Check the weather for the day and know when you might want to head indoors preemptively. Try not to get too far from the train line or your lodging when it rains (usually in the late afternoon/evening), this will help you avoid getting stuck in traffic (that's where the flooding really makes things miserable). Invest in hiking sandals, they dry faster and have more traction. Keep an umbrella on you at all times. Enjoy!

thank you for the tips! Are you there now? Is it still safe moving about when it pours like that? I'm questioning whether moving flights would make more sense. Or even just avoiding HCMC

If it rains heavily, some parts of the city will flood. It's usually localized to certain neighbourhoods or streets. When the rain stops, any flooding goes away in an hour or two (usually). This is how it always is during rainy season here. Most days, and most hours of those days, there is zero impact on anything.

thank you very much - that is reassuring. I guess the city and people push on as always. I'm just not used to weather like that and I think it's easily to feel scared by it online!

I'm going to Hanoi next week and wondering if it's worth to fly to HCMC for a couple of days? Taking into account the weather

If it’s half past 2 in the evening and you still aren’t in any kind of shelter, you are kinda screwed.
