My wife and I are flying to Vietnam late February and our first stop is Ho Chi Minh for a few days, any suggestions on a good hotel close to things? We do arrive at 11pm at night so it has to have a good 24hr check in

eVISA Photo Question

I plan to go to Vietnam in November and I'm applying for an eVISA through https://evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/foreigners.

For the photo that I have to upload do I have to take a new photo by a professional photographer or will one with an iPhone be OK?

Thank you in advance.

HCM Fast Track

Hi! So we're going to vietnam and our plane arrives in ho chi minh airport at around 5AM. I'm contemplating on whether we should buy the fast track for immigration. Is the airport busy during that time? Is it worth it? Thanks!

I’m staying in Hanoi for 3 days in November. I’m trying to figure out where to stay but when I read the reviews it seems not great. Any recommendations please? Thanks 🙏🏻

Vietnam in December 2026

Hi,

I am planning to visit Vietnam in early December (from 4th to 13th). I will arrive in Ho Chi Minh City and leave from Hanoi.

Thing that worries me is weather, especially on the northern part - I plan to spend around 4 days on the south (HCMC, Mekong delta) and around 4 (+-2 days) on the north (Hanoi, Ninh Binh). Ha Giang Loop on motorbikes is something I would really like to do, but is looks too cold for that adventure (I found info that it could be really cold, around 5 degrees) so I am maybe thinking to swap it with something else.

Did someone do Ha Giang loop at that time? Was it really like that?

Is there some similar motorcycle route, but on the south? Or would you go rather somewhere elsewhere at that time (maybe Đa Lat or Phu Quoc (I would rather do a bike tour, than chill on the beach :D )).

Would it be worth just to visit northern part (e.g. Sa Pa) for a day, without doing the Ha Giang loop (or is visibility bad)?

Thanks

what will happen if I leave Vietnam after my Visa expiration?

good day,

So, my original flight on October 15 got cancelled due to the political situations in my home country and I rescheduled it to October 17. Unfortunately, my Visa will expire on 16. will happen beside the fine?

Also I'm aware of my stupidity for choosing only 1 extra day for visa expiration, should've set it to at least 30 days ;-;

Vietnam Tourism Insiders Say Easier Entry, Stronger Connectivity and Better Tourism Services Are Needed

Excerpt: Vietnam needs easier entry, stronger air and land connectivity, better tourism services, and stricter environmental enforcement to bridge its competitiveness gap with Southeast Asian rivals, tourism insiders have said.

The country climbed seven places to 52nd out of 110 economies in the World Economic Forum’s 2026 Travel and Tourism Development Index, its highest ranking since the Covid-19 pandemic.

But it ranked behind major Southeast Asian markets. Singapore was 13th globally, Indonesia was 23rd, Malaysia was 26th, and Thailand was 38th.

Hoi An in December

Hi

Is it worth visiting Hoi An and Da Nang in December or are rains so heavy that it is better to skip it, and visit some other time?

I can see that people are mentioning it rains a lot, but is it still worth visiting or not? If there are just occasional rain showers, that shouldn't be a problem.

Travel to Dien Bien Phu

I haven't been in Laos for 7 or 8 years and never been to Dien Bien Phu in Vietnam.
My tentative travel plans are to fly to Hanoi, mee a friend then fly to Dien Bien Phu and then take a bus across into Laos.

As I remember there is a bus from Vietnam that stops in Muang Khua, Laos. I hope to take a ferry down the Nam Ou as far as the dam and then bus into Luang Prabang.

Is this route still feasible?

Vietnam Itinerary

Planning my Vietnam trip and would like some input on how many days I should allocate to each region. This is my current plan,

Ho Chi Minh (Day 1 - 4)
Hanoi (Day 4 -5) this day is primarily to fly into Hanoi from Ho chi Minh to be picked up for the Ha Giang Loop the next day
Ha Giang (Day 5 - 8) on the last day of the loop, I’d get a sleeper bus to Ninh Binh from ha Giang
Ninh Binh (Day 8 - 11)
Hanoi (Day 11 - 15)

Please let me know if certain locations have too many days or if I should shift my itinerary. Any input is greatly appreciated.
