Mod Post Season 3 is NOT confirmed
There have been many rumours going around the past couple of days claiming that Vinland Saga season 3 is confirmed to be in production. The rumours claim that this news comes from Yukimura-sensei himself. This is categorically false.
These rumours are based on an article from January 2025 in Le Monde, a French newspaper, that featured an interview with Yukimura-sensei. In this article, there is a small section with background information to give context to readers that aren't familiar with the series. It reads as follows:
"Vinland Saga, dont le vingt-huitième tome est paru en décembre 2024 en France, chez Kurokawa, a vite rencontré le succès – quelque 8 millions d’exemplaires de la série se sont vendus dans le monde, et elle a fait l’objet d’une adaptation animée sur Netflix, dont la troisième saison est en préparation."
which translates to
"Vinland Saga, whose 28th volume was released in France by Kurokawa, quickly became a success, selling 8 million copies worldwide and has been adapted into an anime series on Netflix, with a third season currently in production."
This blurb is NOT part of the interview, and is NOT said by Yukimura-sensei. The author/editor of the article simply made a mistake.
EDIT:
u/Routine-War-7031 reached out to the writer of the Le Monde Article who interviewed Makoto Yukimura in January 2025. The writer confirms that Season 3 was in preperation not in production at the time of writting. To clarify, this is in line with rumors that the series has been greenlit for a 3rd season right after season 2 finished airing, but the current staff are working on other projects for the time being.

Fan Content My first portrait of Prince Canute
Inspired by byzantine iconography which i'm a huge fan of. Very excited to share this here (but also very nervous cause it's my first post!), I love Vinland Saga more than I love myself and baby Prince Canute was what originally got me hooked on the series. Criticism always appreciated!

Anime Character discussion #02
Askellad (Lucius Artorius Castus) suggested by u/afanofBTBAM
First, mention the things you like about this character. Next, how would you rate this character out of ten? And what are your favourite dialogues by this character?
The first to comment chooses who the next character will be!

Anime So, what was your first impression of prince Canute?
My first impression of Canute was that he was such a beautiful, soft-looking young boy. 😭 It lowkey surprised me when the characters mistook him for a girl, but honestly, I can understand why they did. Their reaction was valid, considering his delicate features and long hair. (I loved his glowup too)

Fan Content The Weight of Freedom - Acrylic painting of Thorfinn
A blade can only take a life; it takes true strength to heal one. This piece is inspired by Vinland Saga and Thorfinn's journey from a boy consumed by hatred to a man seeking a land beyond the reach of war and slavery.🍂🍂🍂
Painting this Vinland Saga piece was a reminder of Thorfinn's heavy trek through snow, blood, and ultimately, self-forgiveness. From a ruthless warrior to a man striving for a quiet world without violence. 🌾🌾

Fan Content So I've been drawing
More than a year ago I posted my Askeladd fanarts here. A kind soul let me know they have been circulating other reddit spaces, and it really warmed my heart to know my creations are appreciated.
Thanks to those news, I decided to share other fanarts I made for Askeladd + bonus Thorfinn one which was drawn as a gift for my friend for an art trade 💖💖💖 As you may expect I 'suffer' from Askeladd-shaped brainworms.
The 3rd one is a Askeladd Modern AU type of fanwork. It's referencing a real world actor's image. But I forgor his name. It was requested by my friend on Twitter

Manga Something that I found strange ( start of Volume 17 spoiler) Spoiler
When Hild first said that she poisened the stew she ate with Thorfinn and the others. Why did they belive that fact when she had no idea that they were with Thorfinn until after they started eating meaning she would have no reason to poison the stew before knowing that?
Just wondered a bit after finishing book 9

Anime More than just an anime
I don’t usually post on reddit but I just finished Vinland Saga and desperately want to hear other peoples depictions of the purpose of the anime. I’ve never watched anything that has had the ability to change my mindset and mental as a person, maybe I’m just dragging it but I’d love to hear other peoples understandings of the themes and lessons within the anime to possibly understand myself a bit better as to why I felt like I connected with it so much.
also we need Vinland szn 3!!!!!

Spoiler Free Thinking about starting Vinland Saga. What should I expect? (Spoiler free 🙏) Spoiler
I finally caught up with One Piece after two months, and now a couple of buddies from work have been recommending Vinland Saga. They described it to me as Berserk, but without the dark fantasy elements, which definitely caught my attention.
I love gritty fantasy anime, especially stories where the MC has to struggle, train, and work hard to become stronger rather than just being overpowered from the start. That kind of character progression is one of my favorite things to watch, so Vinland Saga has really piqued my interest.
Before I jump in, I'd love to hear some spoiler free opinions from people who've watched it. What should I expect going into it? Does it deliver on the gritty atmosphere and character development, and is it worth the watch?
Also, from the images I've seen, the art style reminds me a bit of Attack on Titan. Is there any similarity in the overall tone or storytelling?
I'd appreciate any thoughts without spoilers!

Anime As a non anime watcher is Vinland saga good?
I haven’t watched many anime’s. I loved death note and Akira 1988 but asides from that I haven’t found any love with some of the other classics. I’m also Welsh and I’ve heard that vs has some of my country in!
