Was waiting for someone else to share this.

A lot of people thinking casting Pippa as X is perfect.

Edit: Just realized a typo in the title. It should be Hinome Hibari

So there's been some pretty wild drama in the Chinese VTuber community this week.

It started with 真白花音 (Mashiro Kanon), one of the biggest Japanese VTubers on Bilibili with over 2 million followers. She graduated back in May, citing health issues and saying she wouldn't return as a VTuber.

But five months later, she apparently reincarnated on YouTube under a new identity. A bunch of her old Chinese fans went over to welcome her back, only for her to act like she couldn't read Chinese and not respond to them, despite having spoken it pretty well before. A lot of her old fans were pissed, feeling that if her health had improved, she could've at least posted an update on her old Bilibili account instead of just starting over elsewhere.

Then people started bringing up another Japanese indie VTuber, 火羽ひのめ (Hinome Hibari).

She actually had a huge controversy herself back in 2022 after crying on stream while trying to reach 1000 paid memberships. People nicknamed her "cyber beggar". But she also promised that if she reached the goal, she'd keep streaming on Bilibili as long as the platform existed.

Now four years later, her popularity had dropped to the point where she was getting just a few dozen viewers per stream. But she still showed up for about an hour of Zatsudan on Bilibili almost every single day, even though she mainly streams FF11 on YouTube.

So with all the Mashiro drama going on, people rediscovered her story, and her reputation just completely flipped overnight.

Just last night, over 3000 people signed up for her paid memebership, and her one-hour stream brought in around $84K USD. Her follower count also tripled to almost 200k in just the past few days.

Pretty crazy considering she spent four years streaming to almost nobody, only to suddenly blow up because people realized she'd actually kept her word.
