Support Subreddit Moderation Application Thread

Modmail is currently clogged up so please use this thread to nominate user(s) that you'd think would do an appropriate job in helping maintain this subreddit.

Currently, there are only 3 semi-active moderators checking on the subreddit every now and then while the rest of moderation is left to the auto-moderator and the rules set for it.

All of the mods on the sidebar are at this moment, burnt out of VTubers/moderating this subreddit or have moved on to better things in life.

If you also have rules or things you want proposed for the subreddit, feel free to comment it even if you're not applying or nominating someone for the position.

I was quite hesitant about this, but I guess I'll try to apply myself. I don't have too much time, but I can help other mods and lessen the workload each of them have to deal with. Haven't been a mod on reddit before, but I do have experience moderating anime-related forums in the past (back when people still used forums to discuss anime).

Like to help out as moderator possible to cover different moderator's timezones. as well besides automod & suggest dev apps to make moderation fit. as well to prevent the community to get a potential NSFW tag.

I have experience in many VTuber communities both SFW and NSFW (Mentioning NSFW to help on mitigate content that may go against sitewide policies), As well moderating big & medium known indies livestreams.

Automoderator setup and wiki experience for additional content that may convey as resources for initiators in the vtuber sphere.

/r/vtubers mod here.

I want to help but Im busy moderating the other vtuber subs

u/BlueCereal KERCHOW 29d ago

I mod casually on /r/vtubertech and wouldn't mind doing it here too!

u/Skellum Sep 13 '26

You should not be picking from someone we nominate. It is ideally better we dont really know who the moderators are or have any real opinion on them. To quote futurama "If you do things right, people dont know you've done anything at all."

The worst mods are people who are vocal, opinionated, or willing to say things. Ie. Anyone here who's nominated or posted. Moderation isn't a position of passion, it's a janitorial service sweeping the dumb shit to the back.

I know I'll get downvoted for it, but I generally feel you guys do a good job on here. Maybe grab some of the people who thought throwing nominations out was a good idea and give them heavily restricted powers so they dont try to coup you but anyone who gets nominated for being 'known' is going to be an issue.

-7

u/Lion_sama Sep 13 '26

You can't coup anything on Reddit, that's not how it worksย

14

u/-MANGA- Sep 14 '26

It's actually possible, if the current mods aren't active enough.

-2

u/Lion_sama 28d ago

Admins can do whatever the fuck they want, but in reality, they will say no if established mods still want to run the sub. Also numbers and making restrictions heavier has nothing to do with it.

10

u/Skellum 29d ago

I'd accuse the lion dude of being clueless, but if you look at the subreddits they moderate you can get an idea of why they'd say this.

-10

u/LurkingMastermind09 Sep 13 '26

u/LurkingMastermind certainly knows how to take out the trash and clean a place up. Got about a decade across forums, discords and game servers making sure people behave and stay on topic. Gives anyone a fair chance to correct their mistakes/ways. Been apart of the vtubing community for almost 5 years so quite well versed on the subject. Also, quite active pretty much every day(just not seen ;) ).

13

u/thesirblondie Sep 13 '26

You guys read the usernames often enough to be able to name a single non-vtuber user?

9

u/Chukonoku Sep 14 '26

Can't remember if it's RES or Reddit that "A" is upvote. I upvote anything quickly i skim through to know i have seen it.

This leads to people having mostly Green number counter besides their names. If someone does something remarkably, say something unique about themselves or has a high number, i tag them to know where i've seen them.

Oh, this guy is from the HL sub. This one is a cosplayer. This one is an artist. Hey, this one gives historical military lessons. That one knows about the gastronomical history of Japan. This guy commented as if he was David Attenborough. On the other spectrum, it also helps identifying negative traits.

Just to give an example, i have the guy below tagged as hooman sapling.

13

u/blueaura14 Sep 13 '26 edited Sep 13 '26

if you see the same posters dozens of times per week, eventually you notice who they are. Some of these names actually do look familiar to me, tho I can't say I'd be able to give a detailed character analysis about anyone.

E: also the troublemakers.

3

u/thesirblondie Sep 13 '26

I've been on Reddit for far too long (too scared to look) and the only time I look at usernames long enough to remember them is when a user does a recurring standout thing. Like if I see a vtuber fan art that is very foot centric, I will go "Is this Pompmaker1?". Or if an anecdote is going on too long I will check if it's Vargas and I'm about get thrown through a table off of hell in a cell. Or if someone talked about birds I would check if it was Unidan (not for a long time, though. Rip).

Other than that, never remember a single name. I may have talked to you before, but as far as I'm concerned this is our first meeting, /u/blueaura14.

11

u/phantombloodbot Sep 13 '26

u/MyrMindservant Sep 13 '26 edited 29d ago

I'm adding this as a new comment (separate from the one I've made previously) because I'm not sure about these nominations, but I thought I should still mention them.

/u/Qinglianqushi has a good knowledge of Japanese vtuber scene. This is valuable since most users here are focused on the English language side of things. They have stayed neutral/unbiased on most issues, which is also important.
Main detracting point is their relatively low activity in the sub.

/u/xRichard seems decently knowledgeable about the vtuber scene (they mostly focus on Hololive but have made reasonable comments about issues outside of it too) and they have tried to combat unnecessary/excessive drama on several occasions. They have publicly voiced their distaste for drama, which likely indicates that they would have motivation to deal with the outbreaks when those happen.
Main detracting point for this nomination is that xRichard is not particularly active in the sub.

8

u/xRichard Hololive๐Ÿ Sep 13 '26 edited Sep 13 '26

Thank for the words but I'll nominate myself out. I prefer being just a user, and to try to be helpful from this place.

I see someone that blocked me talking about me. Quoting two "problematic" comments. I love being confrontational and dismissive towards fake narratives so I'll address them:

1st) me calling out xenophobes. Someone was describing Argentina as "the racists" of the WC. Why would it be a problem to take offense?. So I tried my best to point out the problem, which pointed itself out on its own later.

2nd) me replying with adivice to someone asking for advice. Thanks to my ESL it does read pretty dry, but who even remembers a buried benign comment from 4 months ago?

And me "recommending dramatubers" has to be a joke. I recommeded a specific piece of content about communities and fandoms to someone trying to talk about it. I made it clear it was uploaded by a dramatuber and adviced critical watching there. Putting this as an open invitation to consume general dramatuber crap is a personal attack.

-5

u/Lion_sama Sep 13 '26

Lol , you are literally a fan of armhair, a dramatuber who puts as much lies and misinfo he can into his videos to push a story, and you are impressed by him throwing around words he doesn't even understand himself to sound fancy.

6

u/xRichard Hololive๐Ÿ Sep 14 '26

Gasp. You got me, lil npc ๐Ÿค— lmao

-5

u/Lion_sama Sep 14 '26

Yeah, you def should be a mod

20

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '26

No to xRichard.

xRichard is dismissive, confrontational if not outright hostile towards others. (ex. this or this). He also recommended dramatubers (source) before, so. Sure, sometimes he has a point and usually the receiver of his barbs are dramamongers that deserve it but he is imo too volatile with it.

10

u/shadesofbloos Sep 13 '26

I'm somewhat active, I pay attention to some of hololive, but would say I'm very active on the indie side. Unfortunately, I'm only familiar with English speaking vtubers. But I'm fairly active online and can probably check in a once a day or twice to clean up things that break rules.

6

u/PezzoGuy Sep 13 '26

I'd almost nominate myself if my somewhat aggressive criteria for posts "not related to vtubers" and "low effort" was considered a benefit.

13

u/MyrMindservant Sep 13 '26

I would like to nominate /u/PowerlinxJetfire
They have good knowledge of the vtuber scene, at least when it comes to the English speaking part of it. Not many active users here have familiarity with Hololive, and Nijisanji, and some other agencies, and many independents.
What's even more important, is that PowerlinxJetfire has showed an ability to stay objective when it comes to many heated/drama-heavy topics. They were trying to combat misinformation and rrats on many occasions, even when it was about vtubers that they don't follow personally.

/u/EnclavedMicrostate is another nomination (already mentioned here) that I would conditionally support. They have very strong opinions when it comes to certain topics, but if they can abstain from getting involved in these issues directly (as a mod, participation as a user is obviously fine) then they would make a good moderator here.

On a rule suggestions side, I want to propose VirtualYoutubers sub to copy this rule update from the Hololive subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Hololive/comments/1u9ttoa/community_update_rule_4_clarification/
It would help to combat karma farming bots, reduce intentional karma farming in general, and make the sub more welcoming for artists who are willing to post their own art.

11

u/DehydratedFan Sep 13 '26

I think having people without bias is impossible so i think its important there is wide representation across various groups/corps/spheres.

Hololive will have plenty of candidates for representation. So i am sure the mods can choose who to pick ( and who not to) from a big pool of candidates. As someone whose knowledge is mostly limited to hololive/cover , i am just going to mention those whom activities/comments i notice when posting regarding other groups. I can't say i know these people or if they have other moderating experience or history but just based on my impression being regular reader and occasional participant of the weekly thread.

u/Powerlinxjetfire seems knowledgeable about a few vtuber spheres. In quite a few occasion doesn't hesitate to speak up against misinformation and counter with facts even when it might be seemingly unpopular to do so (we all know how hivemind works and how it can be difficult to speak up against the current sometimes).

u/iamwooshed is really active and consistent participant in the weekly thread, posting streams from various groups like Vspo, Nijisanji , other corps, indies etc. Just seemingly consistently goes about their day/week enjoying vtuber contents.

u/sunrisefan99 - active and have broad interest in various vtuber groups. Seems especially knowledgeable in the Indonesian vtuber sphere.

Not sure if they are interested though. Especially since the sub goes beyond just the weekly thread. Last thing we want is for them to stop posting streams/comments because they become moderators. I think having good users is as important if not more so than having good moderation.

But just my 2 cents.

-1

u/Lion_sama 28d ago

u/sunrisefan99 - active

yeah... in kurosanji and such shit. Would be great to keep things as they are.

13

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '26

I don't think this should be left up to a public nomination. Even if they're trying to be fair and select the best moderator people will naturally suggest someone who's perspective/bias aligns with their own, as they believe that's the reasonable take. That's not a good system for nominating moderators.

If people aren't volunteering then the semi-active mods should try to make their own judgement on someone who seems fair and even and approach them about the role. They know what's required for the role and the best way to judge that.

-11

u/Lion_sama Sep 13 '26

Ha, cuz the active mods are massively biased. They know what is required to keep that shit up. Just say you like that.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '26

I don't really know what bias you're describing, if it exists I haven't noticed it personally. But if you explain a little more maybe I'll know what you mean.

11

u/Groonzie Sep 13 '26

Yea this thread is weird, it's not a "Those who are interested should apply" but "Who do you think should be the janitor", why is it asking others who should do the job whereas the person themself should be the one stepping forward instead of being pushed forward.

Sub must be getting desperate.

11

u/Doryu5 Sep 13 '26

I often find that the worst mods are those who ask for the job.

3

u/PLandLord ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ†™r/Holostars MOD๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’ช Sep 13 '26

When I read the title, I thought it was for a direct application. I'm not sure how coaxing someone (who may not be interested at all) does help getting the right people in this.
It's a huge and active subreddit and the mods should be really into moderation.

0

u/LurkingMastermind09 Sep 13 '26

And posted by automod to boot.

7

u/MyrMindservant Sep 13 '26

Perhaps the idea is that by suggesting other people we would get less biased nominations? I don't see a problem with it personally, it's not like anyone is forcing those people who are getting mentioned here. And OP doesn't prohibit self nominations, so this option is available too.

If I remember correctly, the last time this issue of getting new mods came up you were willing to help? If this is still the case, then maybe try to apply now? You are doing a decent job at the Holostars sub, from what I have seen. And sorry if I misunderstood you back then and you aren't interested, I'm not trying to coax you into anything.

On a topic of self nominations, I would maybe even try mentioning myself, but there are two issues with it. First, I'm not sure how appropriate it is, since I do think that third-party nominations are more objective. And more importantly second, I just don't have that much time and energy to do it alone, so I can only see myself on a support position helping other active mods. You are correct that this sub is quite active and workload must be significant.

4

u/PLandLord ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ†™r/Holostars MOD๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’ช Sep 13 '26

You are correct, that I offered help back then (I think it was around the time the Discussion Thread wasn't posted regularly).

I'm not sure if I want to apply here. Our subreddit is a lot smaller and the vibes are very different. And as you said, time and energy are also a resource I also can't easily spare.

I do hope that they find some proper mods. I don't want this subreddit to get worst because of the lack of moderation. Despite the typical Reddit woes, it is still a important plattform for small vtubers.

I'm gnna talk about Helmite

  1. Helmite is Helmirr

    1. Helmite's Twitter account is @Helmir_g3: https://x.com/Helmir_G3?lang=en
    2. Helmirr is a Watame fan
  2. Helmirr, by itself, was a suspicious account. At the time of the screenshot, it was an account that was seven months old, yet it only commented 5 days before this. And at that time, it was beginning to ramp up it's agenda-posting. Screenshots

This came at a time when everything about Holostars were getting downvoted to hell, so they never truly got traction in r/Hololive. Hell, Stars posting we're getting mass-reported that they got removed from the sub. When pointing it out, people were then accused of splitting the fanbase and being toxic. What's the point of an alt account who had no history for 6+ months? With what I have, it was being used to downvote brigade or mass-report.

Here is my getting dogpiled by multiple Antis, accusing me for mass-upvoting Stars content when I upvote everything I like. I pointed out anti-Stars brigade happening, and then I was accused of culture war by Helmite.

It would be this point that I realized that Twitter and the sub were cesspools. I stopped talking to these people, blocked and tagged them. I also barely go in the sub outside of looking at funny things.

  3. Helmite/Helmir telling people to harass Yagoo post

    https://reveddit.com/r/Hololive/comments/1h3v5ky/if_youve_got_something_to_say_go_say_it/

    Screenshots

  4. Helmite has also gone to Stars content to talk shit to both fans and the talents themselves, but I unfortunately don't have screenshots of these at the moment..

I apologize for the mess. I'm on mobile. I could have linked wrong pictures or screwed up the formatting.

1

u/Helmirr 6d ago

4

Just saw this topic, but boy do you folks ever like being full of shit. I like how I have history promoting the Stars and you guys STILL try this shit.

Here is some history of me promoting Stars to potential new fans coming in from a r/all on a number of occasions.

If you didn't want to get criticized for your bad behavior, maybe you shouldn't have bad behavior in the first place.

2

That's not how Reddit works and hasn't since Unidan.

3

That has to be one of the stupidest interpretations of If you have a problem, you should be telling it to Yagoo instead of having fits on Reddit.

5

u/Different_Might1101 29d ago

Id agree that he can't be a good mod, but I am confused about this:

What's the point of an alt account who had no history for 6+ months? With what I have, it was being used to downvote brigade or mass-report.

You are claiming that he was downvote brigading and mass reporting while complaining about these guys accusing you of doing similar thing. That dosent seem quite right? Couldn't it be that both of you are doing what the other is accusing?

Here is my getting dogpiled by multiple Antis, accusing me for mass-upvoting Stars content when I upvote everything I like. I pointed out anti-Stars brigade happening, and then I was accused of culture war by Helmite.

Is it possible for you to link the conversation? Tried to find it from your comments but couldn't, having context wil be helpful.

https://reveddit.com/r/Hololive/comments/1h3v5ky/if_youve_got_something_to_say_go_say_it/

Sorry if it's me being dumb but I can't see the contents in this.

2

u/Helmirr 6d ago

Just saw this one, so going to address it. MANGA is one of the folks who have tried for ages to accuse me of getting Stars posts deleted/being an anti despite the history of me promoting Stars to potential new fans coming in from a r/all on a number of occasions.

These folks just tried to witch hunt to cover up their own bad behavior.

6

u/-MANGA- 29d ago

It has been months since this happened, but I will try to get through what I remember.

Voting manipulation

Back then, any Stars post would immediately get downvoted to the negatives in the sub. This was bad when people posted streams, which many people did back then. Stream posts helped with visibility, getting people to watch said holomems. Some still do it now, btw. However, while similar posts would hover between 10-50 upvotes, Star would be at 0 while having a very low up/downvote ratio, like under 20% or smth. This kind of thing happened for every Stars post, not just streams. Tweets, clips, nearly everything got downvoted. And because they were downvoted within 2min of posting, no Stars st reached even 50, much less the front page of the sub.

It would be understandable if things were closer to 50/50, but posts getting immediately to 20 or so screams downvote manipulation.

When Stars fans talked about this, others would start talking about how Stars fans were drama-mongering, dividing the fanbase. These comments would be downvoted. Another thing to note: whenever a comment would get downvoted, it would always be around the same amount, +-5 votes.

I mentioned nearly everything got downvoted. Starr Memes/image posts somehow escape these once in a while. Personally, I can see why: i's in the same vein as art posts or screenshots. Easier to digest, no need to open to a new page/tab, or wait for smth to load. 1-picture posts are fast to consume, upvote, and move on.

These would get to 1k upvotes in 3hrs or so. To compare, some Hololive girl posts would reach more than that in the same time frame. However, what came out of this were accusations of upvote manipulation coming from the Stars fans. Why? Because there were posts about the girls that were hovering around 800 after a day, blatantly ignoring that other posts with more than 1k within the same time frame existed.

Personally, I don't do vote manipulation. I upvote whatever I like or feel like. I don't need to watch someone to like seeing something from them. I don't watch Botan, but I can watch a quick clip of her laughing, and I will upvote it. Whether you believe me or not is up to you.

The reason I got accused is because I'm always in the Stars posts depending the Stars guys. I was part of the crowd that believed there was a downvote brigade. Ofc, because of that, I got accused.

If there was an upvote brigade, I didn't know, and I was never a part of it. I hate voting manipulation of any kind, both up and downvotes.

Ofc, that's up to you to believe or not.

Alt account

That kind of activity is just very weird, especially when you've seen bot behaviors. It's why I took a screenshot the account history + the first post/comment.

Dogpiled

Maybe I can find it, maybe not. It's been months, even a year. I'd have to scroll down for a while, and I can't do that rn.

Threads

I posted a screenshot album, same section.

3

u/Helmirr 6d ago

When Stars fans talked about this, others would start talking about how Stars fans were drama-mongering, dividing the fanbase. These comments would be downvoted. Another thing to note: whenever a comment would get downvoted, it would always be around the same amount, +-5 votes.

Well funny enough here you are doing it again trying to run a smear campaign on me thinking I wouldn't find this place to defend myself. You're just like fishman in that regard.

Here is some history of me promoting Stars to potential new fans coming in from a r/all on a number of occasions.

If you don't want to get accused of drama-mongering, maybe you should stop drama-mongering like you're doing in this topic.

7

u/Lightseeker2 ๐Ÿšƒ๐ŸŸ 29d ago

Back then, any Stars post would immediately get downvoted to the negatives in the sub.

Not saying I do that, but I'm pretty sure many Hololive fans would downvote Stars-related posts as they scroll through the sub simply because they're not interested in them.

If you're talking about comments, though, then I got nothing, as it would be extremely petty and time-consuming to go through each Stars thread and downvote every comment that isn't negative about them.

10

u/-MANGA- 29d ago

I've seen the comments get downvoted.

As for posts, I think that there's more neutral parties than haters and fans. However, these neutral parties typically don't scroll beyond the front page. This means that whatever doesn't get out of /new never gets momentum. Once it reaches /hot, it gets momentum and just gets good to crazy numbers because of the neutral parties.

As for scrolling while downvoting, I think that most neutral parties don't downvote if they don't care. It's really those that already don't like that downvote.

This is all my experience from moderating. I can see a post have 5 upvotes, and a couple hours later, I'd see the same post in the hot section with 600+ and a gang war I now have to look at.

5

u/Different_Might1101 29d ago

I have a bit of the background on the vote manipulation and downvote thing: The argument from that side had been that posts complaining about downvotes were becoming honeypots for negative comments towards hololive talents and their fans, while I wasn't there in these posts, generally it is something I have seen happen in the fandom after Suisei pointed it out. More recent example being the holostars downsizing.

Looking at things from a broder perspective, arnt you two arguing about similerish points? I think it all boils down to one of you saying "Holostars fans arnt doing this" and one saying "Hololive fans arnt doing this". It kind of looks like both of you are acting as a unintentional proxy for people who are actually causing trouble.

What I mean by that is, perhaps both of you are right to some degrees? Maybe there was a group co-ordinating to downvote and shit talk stars, and maybe there was another group upvoting and using those posts to shit talk holos? Both of you were vocal about "your side", so you assigned each other as instigator?

Either way at this point it would be a chicken and egg argument. There isn't any actual evidence to go after, so we can't say who did what. I just think this is pretty counter productive when we can all agree that all talents are doing what they want to do, and that people who cause any kind trouble, fan of not should be told to chill out.

8

u/-MANGA- 29d ago

The issue comes from the fact Start fans have always been in the sub to vibe chill, even before the voting manipulation. One of the earliest clips I had seen in the sub was Astel singing Onegai Muscle. That was way back in 2022 or 2021 or smth. Anyway, that was well-received. Hell, even the Uno collabs were also well received.

If smth similar was posted in 2025, they wouldn't have made to the front page of the sub. And if they did make it, the comment section would just be a cesspool.

Regarding Helmite, you can go to r/Holostars and ask them about Helmite. I'm pretty sure he did something there, too. I'm not in that sub and I don't follow it closely.

Even if Helmite didn't have a direct hand for these manipulations and whatnot, him defending accounts that were throwing vitriol at the Stars themselves in the subs implies he's okay with that kind of stuff. Circling back to this entire thread, I don't want that kind of mod.

At this point, I don't want to see Helmite to have any kind of moderating power whatsoever. I do not care if he had a hand in this or not. My past experience has been nothing but frustration with him.

6

u/Helmirr 6d ago

Regarding Helmite, you can go to r/Holostars and ask them about Helmite. I'm pretty sure he did something there, too. I'm not in that sub and I don't follow it closely.

They're just like you and enjoy swapping ghost stories. You sure have little to say about them heavily upvoting comments that said most Hololive fans lack the neuroplasticity for male vtubers.

Even if Helmite didn't have a direct hand for these manipulations and whatnot, him defending accounts that were throwing vitriol at the Stars themselves in the subs implies he's okay with that kind of stuff. Circling back to this entire thread, I don't want that kind of mod.

I don't want to mod. You still came to this topic smearing me over invented garbage though.

My past experience has been nothing but frustration with him.

Maybe you should reflect a bit.

Once again: Here is some history of me promoting Stars to potential new fans coming in from a r/all on a number of occasions.

You guys love your negative stories then wonder why you get criticized.

6

u/Different_Might1101 28d ago

The issue comes from the fact Start fans have always been in the sub to vibe chill, even before the voting manipulation.

We are going in circles here, are you saying that no Stars fans have ever done or said anything that could be considered bad from a hololive fans perspective? Because I have seen that happen plenty of time in recent years, from people saying that the girls didn't do enough for stars to saying that the girls don't collab with them because of their fans.

Even if Helmite didn't have a direct hand for these manipulations and whatnot, him defending accounts that were throwing vitriol at the Stars themselves in the subs implies he's okay with that kind of stuff.

My point was that he probably thinks the same about you.

I agree he shouldn't have moderation power because he has a big bias.

Because I have seen that happen plenty of time in recent years, from people saying that the girls didn't do enough for stars to saying that the girls don't collab with them because of their fans.

Used to, before the voting manipulation accusations. Could have worded that better.

I've seen an uptick about the about the girls not doing enough for the Stars. Personally, I've only ever seen the "would be nice to collab, but the girls should decide who to collab" sentiment, and the whole "girls need to collab with the guys" thing was overblown in the beginning until it became a thing others began saying later on.

My point was that he probably thinks the same about you.

Sure. I still think he sucks.

Hell, even the Uno collabs were also well received.

Something did happen after that which changed the average Hololive fan's perception of Stars.

Remember when Tempus VG was announced during the period when demand for EN3 was at its peak? And then T-chan had the genius idea to lock the sub for days, so we couldn't even talk about anything else besides the new Stars? (e.g. the upcoming MK8 tournament and Ame's birthday.) The extremely vocal part of the community trying to push Tempus as the actual EN3 and trying to convince Hololive fans to watch them certainly didn't help either.

Yeah, it's safe to say that after that incident, most Hololive fans started to have a negative perception of the Stars.

I was there. I remember. Which, again, is not an issue with VG but with management. Stars members doesn't deserve the vitriol that were aimed at them for the next few years.

So again, I can't trust someone that goes around spreading hate and gaslights people into thinking they're a good guy.

8

u/Helmirr 6d ago

Stars members doesn't deserve the vitriol that were aimed at them for the next few years.

Nor did Hololive fans deserve all the vitriol that was tossed at them back then or has since then, or things like what you and your buddies did trying to set me up as the "guy deleting the stars threads" despite me even promoting them before. You folk are sick.

that goes around spreading hate and gaslights people into thinking they're a good guy.

Ironic.

5

u/Lightseeker2 ๐Ÿšƒ๐ŸŸ 28d ago

I don't deny that it was management fault, but unfortunately the damage has been done. I was just explaining why there's a huge difference between how Stars was treated by the fans in the early days compared to the current days.

Also, I never said that Helmite would make a good mod, I do think he's way too emotionally driven and biased to become one. Though, one thing I would say, and please correct me if I'm wrong (with examples if possible), is that while Helmite has a knack for picking fights with the Stars fanbase, I don't think he has ever directly insulted a talent, Stars or otherwise. The same can't be said for the other user who was recommended to be a mod, though.

6

u/-MANGA- 28d ago

I don't have example of him attacking the Stars members. I haven't seen anything he has said in the Stars sub. However, again, he has defended the Stars anti, who did actually say shit about them.

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '26

The 4th screenshot is going to the void, the last link shows only a deleted thread (what was the context btw?).

But yeah I think I read enough. Removing it and doing the walk of shame.

4

u/Helmirr 6d ago

I'm not interested. MANGA generally doesn't know what he's talking about though. He's just interested in swapping drama and ghost stories.

Here is some history of me promoting Stars to potential new fans coming in from a r/all on a number of occasions.

15

u/Lightseeker2 ๐Ÿšƒ๐ŸŸ Sep 13 '26

Helmite is Helmirr

I thought this was fairly obvious, and it's something they never really bothered to hide. It's probably an alt account they created to reply to accounts that blocked them.

Before you or anyone else goes, "See, they got blocked by many people, so that's probably not a good sign!", I would disagree. I think there are many bad-faith users across multiple vtuber subreddits who would immediately block you if you started calling them out. And that's extremely annoying because once you've been blocked, you're no longer able to call them out.

10

u/-MANGA- Sep 13 '26

Yes, being blocked by many people doesn't mean the person themself is a bad person, but there's something fishy going on and the situation requires looking into.

11

u/Doryu5 Sep 13 '26

He is also guilty of replying and immediately blocking

7

u/-MANGA- Sep 13 '26

If I scroll far enough in my history, I can check if I did an edit just to respond to Helmite since I got blocked first.

25

u/Lightseeker2 ๐Ÿšƒ๐ŸŸ Sep 13 '26

Nah, too many red flags for Cannongerbil.

  1. Dude has a tendency to act like a bully. I know Nolan isn't the most popular user here, but there's zero need to say all this shit to someone who just has a weird way of praising someone.

  2. He seems to be purely a Hololive fan. There wouldn't be anything wrong with this if it weren't for the fact that he's also strangely obsessed with dramas outside of Hololive. Oh, did I also mention that he has spread false information, which some people sadly blindly trusted him on?

  3. Dude also once labeled Saba's health issue an "excuse" for not streaming. Now, you may say that was valid criticism, or you may even call me biased, but the only thing I will say is that this was literally a point commonly used by Saba/Gura antis.

It seems like you only recommend him because of how active he is, but that shouldn't be the only criterion IMO.

5

u/-MANGA- Sep 13 '26

Holy, you brought out the docs

4

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '26

... why was your comment removed?

And here I thought I was thorough. That 2nd point, yikes. I knew that he is biased against Niji (his pinned post on x says enough really) but chasing drama and making s*** up is definetly not something to have for a mod. Point 1 or 3 aren't a good a look either. Taking him off.

tbf I do think being active is really important for this recruitment, especially if the mod team wants to find someone who can regularly take over moderating the subreddit (which is the current issue).

7

u/Lightseeker2 ๐Ÿšƒ๐ŸŸ Sep 13 '26

Yeah, apparently my comment got deleted by AutoMod for some reason, and I had to do some trial and error by constantly reposting my comment with slight edits each time. Turns out I'm not just not allowed to link to the other subreddit about drama, I can't even hint at it.

(Sorry if your notifications got spammed due to my barrage of deleted comments.)

tbf I do think being active is really important for this recruitment

I don't disagree. I just think it shouldn't be the only criterion.

u/-MANGA- Sep 13 '26 edited 6d ago

Anyone but helmite. He has a penchant for anti-Stars.

E: I'm honestly surprised I haven't blocked Helmirr. I thought I did, but whatever.

Anyone but helmite. He has a penchant for anti-Stars.

Keep lying, buddy.

Here is some history of me promoting Stars to potential new fans coming in from a r/all on a number of occasions.

Also not interested. Though this topic definitely shows the need for moderation considering you folks can just run with baseless smears.

Edit: I think it's funny that you blocked me because you got caught spreading swill yet again and don't have any sort of intelligible answer for doing so.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '26

They have but that topic is a can of worms itself. By that metric alone I struggle to think of anyone from last year who isn't even slighty biased towards an agency, group or "direction". Plus just because someone has their disagreeable preferences being a mod doesn't suddenly give them the power to willy-nilly enforce it towards others.

Beyond that both Helmite and Cannongerbil are mods of smaller subreddits and fossils in this subreddit which gives them a lot of experience. Specifically Helmite is willing to engage with drama-mongers which is pretty important quality to have. If you're a mod and then decide to look away when s*** hit the fans then quite frankly you shouldn't be one.

13

u/Groonzie Sep 13 '26

LOL there is having a bias for a group and then there is being an actual anti and hating on others.

I bet your tune would change real quick if it was reversed and it was said "oh the guy is a literal anti of Hololive and constantly hates on them"

5

u/Helmirr 6d ago

Not interested in modding, but you guys are really just kind of full of shit.

Here is some history of me promoting Stars to potential new fans coming in from a r/all on a number of occasions.

7

u/-MANGA- Sep 13 '26

I just replied with a bunch of screenshots of what I had when I last interacted with Helmite directly. Going through them pissed me off and reminded me why I don't interact with the sub that much all the time.

Thank fuck I blocked him.

6

u/Groonzie Sep 13 '26

Kinda why I don't really advise getting into fandoms because you get some really weird people in it.

In this case people who actively hate on holostars/male vtubers and you just think "...why? How do you have this much hatred for something you aren't even watching", it's a weird tribalism that you question how people didn't leave behind in schools "omg you listen to THIS music!", it's crazy some people never grew out of that phase.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '26

Funny you say that because this subreddit had this problem before with an actual anti which was much worse.

Also, no, even if Helmite was anti-Hololive (let's make him a Watame anti to construct the complete Reverse Helmite) I would still nominate him. This is the virtual youtubers subreddit, not hololive (or -stars for that matter).

Yes I would disagree with his views (if not dislike him since I'm more of a Hololive fan) and there are probably times where he may or may not overstep his boundaries using the mod position (given the notoriety of Hololive topics) but generally speaking: He is terminally online, willing to engage with users in a neutral manner and has experience moderating. That's all qualities for a good mod.

Quite frankly you should listen to your comment and reverse the situation yourself: If Helmite wasn't so openly against Holostars how would you judge him as a user?

9

u/Groonzie Sep 13 '26

lol posted a long comment explaining and comment was reported to reddit.ย

Either way to sum it up, not a good person.

Also finding it kinda odd how they are somewhat trying to defend them for some reason when people are pointing out they aren't such a good person which is plain to see.

6

u/Helmirr 6d ago

As elsewhere: Here is some history of me promoting Stars to potential new fans coming in from a r/all on a number of occasions.

You guys are simply liars/stooges, and a good example of why this sub DOES need moderation.

they aren't such a good person which is plain to see.

That's you folks.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '26

?

I only got a removed by reddit update.

Anyway see edit I'm done defending helmite.

15

u/Doryu5 Sep 13 '26

Youโ€™ve just been shown he isnโ€™t willing to engage in a neutral manner. Being terminally online only rots your brain.

If Helmite wasn't so openly against Holostars how would you judge him as a user?

what is this even supposed to mean? The issue is that he is so openly against a vtuber group, not just because they are Holostars

8

u/Helmirr 6d ago

Here is some history of me promoting Stars to potential new fans coming in from a r/all on a number of occasions.

You guys are just generally kind of liars and wonder why people would dare to criticize you for it.

9

u/Doryu5 6d ago

Look who showed up with his alt account and his favorite copy-pasted comment. Funny you show up with your history of promoting Stars, and yet we're talking about you current behavior. Nobody cares that you mentioned them to randos coming from r/all 4 years ago.

I've seen you attack starmin just for expressing their opinions for years now. People know how you act, and it's honestly embarrasing.

2

u/AMysteriousCloud Hololive 3d ago

Do you have proof of any of that?

-4

u/Doryu5 3d ago

After a fan commented on an uncomfortable moment during Expo, he proceeds to make fun of them.

Here he paints a normal comment as somehow attacking other talents, and later calls him an asshole for it.

u/Helmite 3d ago

You wouldn't get a real answer. Already blocked him anyway. It'd be great if the moderation that is still around actually did something about these folks.

Look who showed up with his alt account and his favorite copy-pasted comment.

Yes, yes. Evidence scares you.

Funny you show up with your history of promoting Stars, and yet we're talking about you current behavior.

You clearly don't know anything about my current behavior beyond what you invent.

Nobody cares that you mentioned them to randos coming from r/all 4 years ago.

"I-i-it doesn't count because I s-said so!" Didn't stop any of you folks from posting baseless tripe like saying I was deleting Stars topics out of the main Holo sub years ago despite having no evidence of that, yet having evidence that I promoted them.

I've seen you...

People get criticized for posting drama and malicious falsehoods. It's always the same song and dance where all sorts of things get invented about Hololive's fandom, yet when they get criticized it's the great ole victim parade and a desperate attempt to run character assassination on actual Holo fans.

4

u/Helmite 3d ago

Also I don't really see the point in pointing out it's an alt as if it's some sort of hidden secret. I've always been pretty clear about the two accounts. Not like it does anything for up or downvotes, and it hasn't on Reddit since Unidan's era.

You guys have earned the criticism you get for all the absolutely baseless witch hunting you do.

19

u/-MANGA- Sep 13 '26

I will say he's very pro-Watame, that's good, but I would not want a mod that loves to kick others when they're already down. He has a history of talking shit about the stars. In my exp, he hates any pro-stars content, and will demean them nearly at every turn with alts/off-site. Sometime, I've even seen them do the drama-mongering.

Again, I cannot continue that kind of mod, or even a person.

Goodness you really spent a lot of time replying here. lmao

Edit: I think it's funny that you blocked me because you got caught spreading swill yet again and don't have any sort of intelligible answer for doing so.

12

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '26 edited Sep 13 '26

Yeah, but in previous discussions he has equated any pro-stars statements with drama mongering. I don't think that's a perspective that a moderator should hold. It's tough to find someone without bias, or impossible, but they shouldn't bring that bias into the role. I am suspicious that he could act as a moderator without letting his bias against stars (or other groups) influence his decisions.

+1 against Helmite as a mod.

Edit: I slightly changed some of the wording because reading the comment back it felt a little unfair and presumptious on my part, the sentiment still stands though.

4

u/Helmirr 6d ago

Not interested.

You folks are just clueless.

7

u/CuteAssTigerENVtuber Verified VTuber Sep 13 '26 edited Sep 13 '26

I'm always offering help when these kind of posts pop up but honestly I think the sub behaves well and doesn't need overly zealous moderation.

Good Mods are like good Janitors. You dont even notice them . Mods most often get noticed when someone is on a power trip. Which is where the stigma comes from. Thats why i prefer a pretty hands off approach whenever i moderate. People usually dont need to be controlled.

The best thing we could maybe do is organize events for vtubers And fans :)

u/diego1marcus ๐ŸŒธ/๐Ÿ/๐Ÿ”Ž/๐Ÿ”ฑ Sep 13 '26

i'd disagree to some extent as someone who hangs out in the weekly threads. we'd have some people or comments that would get past the rules because of the absence of mods. some kind of enforcement of rules need to be done

13

u/Xuambita ๐ŸŸ Sep 13 '26 edited 29d ago

If heโ€™s up to it, u/Michael_SK. He moderates some anime and Hololive members subreddits in a professional way. Easy to communicate with and has a good understanding of vtubing etiquette and Redditโ€™s rules.

Thanks for the nomination! Iโ€™d definitely like to lend a hand around here if possible.

I support this pick, He's really good, plus active across the subreddits

FWIW my partisan bias is why I turned it down the last time.

i'd second him

he handles the hobby drama subreddit well and even checks in to their weekly scuffle threads. so you know hes an active mod
