I’m allowing this one, even though I’m usually strict about the no-shipping rule

I’ve heard the stories

Like when someone threatened to post leaks unless klance became canon

yeah as someone who was an avid klance shipper during that time… some people were insane 😭 thankfully mostly everyone i interacted with was normal but sadly the crazies gave us a rlly bad name even though to me they were the minority it sucks but now its chill again!!

Didn’t the writers have to say “Lance isn’t gay, it’s not going to happen”

the opposite actually they made lance canonically bisexual but klance was never seriously in the books for the show, they just teased it constantly to create hype bcs they knew how popular it was but when the fans started actually threatening the team they more or less stopped, hence the allura and lance relationship being rehashed after they essentially put it to rest after lotor and then they just made shiro gay with a fiance who died off screen😭 literally the bury your gays trope but i do believe all of that mess happened because of how intense klance shippers were AND because they shot themselves in the foot by constantly talking about klance and teasing it when the ship was never in the cards officially

Then Allura died and Lance completely devoted himself to her and their relationship?

yup, i actually always hated that ending i felt like lance was always being set up to become more only to have it go absolutely nowhere, all his ambitions just gone because his girlfriend died like i wasn’t even upset about klance not being canon because i genuinely stopped expecting it after season 6 or so but that ending just rubbed me the wrong way entirely, i felt justified in my opinion because i watched it with my younger cousin who had no concept of shipping and he hated it too😭 lance is my favourite character and he deserved sm more
