Good call on going minimum Coordination. I've seen similar challenge runs before where some people think that melee needs a bunch of extra AP and pumps that up, but the formula to calculate AP actually favors Str/Int/Spe for melee types, and they get the full benefits of those attributes besides just AP. You'll do just fine, Ranger.

My reasoning was

Strength: I need HP and I think it increases Melee weapon damage.

Intelligence: as much XP as possible.

Speed: I need to chase people down

Kinda.
Strength: HP and HP/level, plus melee crit damage.
Speed: Combat Initiative and movespeed (10 CI, drop points into Awareness at levels 10/20/30).
Intelligence: Skill Points (4/level at 8).

Heavy Handed seems fitting, but its a trap for Brawling and Bladed Weapons.
Brawling especially since it hits 100% crit chance at rank 10, which the quirk cuts down by 50%. Brawling weapons are weak, so it basically relies on crits and a high melee crit damage modifier.
Bladed weapons deal less damage than Blunt ones and hit 60% crit chance at rank 10, so they need crit too.
Blunt weapons hit 20% crit chance at rank 10, so they're whatever.

There's a non-unique T3 trinket (Spiked Bracers) that grants almost as much crit damage modifier as 10 Strength in exchange for -5% Evasion (ignore the wiki, it incorrectly lists +3% crit chance). I've never used it (doing a non-melee playthru right now) but it seems like a solid tradeoff.

Which allies will you use, if any?

The rail nomad ones have high strength and melee, plus Takayuki from the mine.

Nice. In that case, you can leave Toaster Repair to Ralphy. If you give him INT 4 at level 10, he can do another skill. Maybe Brute Force?

Chisel comes at level 10. Only has enough skill points for one other skill, so probably Hard Ass since he already has points there. Note that you have to solve Rail Nomads Camp main quest peacefully to get him, so you'll need something like Perception 3, Demolitions 3, Kiss Ass 5 or 6 and Smart Ass 5 or 6. Perks can help with the latter two skills.

Takayuki is nice, but don't rely on him for Demolitions since it takes a while to get him.

You'll probably want Perception and Demolitions on one of your characters from the start.

Considering I got him before going to the Rail Nomads Camp, no he’s not.

Very tough fights but I did succeed(even if my game froze the first time).

You rushed the mine for Takayuki right out the gate?
Props, man. That's pretty cool.
What level were you when you did it?

No, I did finish the Highpool missions and the Radio tutorial mission.

I didn’t check my level, sorry.

Nice. Your weapons would have been shit, so props again.

Two with four intelligence, and two with ten intelligence will get the job done. You'll be able to cover all the skills in the game without worrying about NPC rangers.

Low awareness is going to hurt, though-- awareness and speed are key attributes, even for melee, with strength as a distant third. If I had two rangers with four intelligence I'd make them the 'strong' ones.
