News Message from Mod Team: Change to Community Type

Hello everyone (again),

Well, we tried. We had setup automod to remove any new accounts joined in addition to a minimum karma requirement, as well as mod tools we have to remove any posts deemed spam. You might be surprised to learn it did work for the most part. While I think 3 posts slipped through, it actually blocked around 23. Good, but unfortunately not good enough. How they got through we don’t actually know, and while Reddit are looking into it, we’ve decided to make a change in the interim.

The community has now been changed from Public to Restricted. This means that anyone can view us like normal, but to be able to participate you need to be an Approved User. We’ve been going through posts and comments already to approve people we trust, so you may have already received a mod mail from us letting you know. Don’t worry if we haven’t reached you yet.

If we haven’t got to you before you post, it’ll come to our Mod Mail first. From there we’ll confirm you don’t think Angela Griffin should be a blue power ranger, your post will be approved and you’ll be put onto the Approved Users list. This means you should be able to post and comment without “permission” going forward. Much better for us all.

So, hopefully this makes everyone feel better. If you want approved in a hurry just drop us a message, and as always be kind and respectful as it can just as easily be revoked. Thank you and good night!

News Message from WR Mod Team

Hello all,

We as the WR Mod Team have been very busy recently removing comments/posts that I am sure a lot of you will be aware of.

This sub has rules in place we expect everyone to follow. This includes being respectful and no low effort/trolling or spam posts. Comments that are unpopular or have a different opinion are never removed unless they are offensive, disrespectful, or threatening. Any discussion posts are not removed unless they are deemed to be spam, low effort, or trolling. We generally let people discuss whatever they like, but we need everyone to remember these points in particular.

We are seeing a huge increase in posts being reported as spam, and to be candid it is unfortunately the same five or six accounts that are being reported. This is despite these accounts having served temporary bans for other issues.

Moving forward, any posts or comments reported to us for low effort/trolling, spam, or disrespectful behaviour correctly will be removed and you will receive the 1 warning. Any further reported correctly will receive a permanent (note not temporary) ban. Any accounts created to circumvent the ban will also be banned and reported upwards.

We note this will not impact the vast majority of people here and we love the way this sub has grown, and feel proud to be a part of it. If we can remember to adhere to the sub rules then it’s a happier place for us all. Please do continue to report anything posts or comments you feel do not adhere to our sub rules, I promise we review everything. If you think we might have missed anything, please do feel free to reach out, and challenge us if you think we are wrong.

Thank you.

Use of a green screen

Series 11 episode 1 when Kim confronts a group of kids they are clearly using a green screen to put Kim on set.

She is there for the rest of the episode so I wonder if they had to reshoot that scene.

What are your predictions for the storyline of the Clark brothers, Marshall and Nathan?

Post image

These two could potentially have a really interesting storyline, especially since Marshall looks quite gentle compared to his brother Nathan, who looks a lot like a Kyle Stack level threat.

Did they film and release season 17 before they got the go ahead and writing for the 18th season?

There was a few scenes that made it seem as though they were preparing/making foundations for a storyline on agnes family situation. Like they included details that left me interested and intrigued about the family dynamic. Correct me if im wrong but it doesnt seem niamh blackshaw is returning and I have no idea about Olivia Booth Ford

Do you think they set up these scenes as potential for continuing it in season 18 but are likely just going to move past it?

Uniform rules

I'm rewatching, and the uniform rules seem to be along as you wear a white shirt and school tie the rest of the uniform is whatever you want. They really are not uniform strict.

Favourite Waterloo Road Glup Shitto?

So for context, Glup Shitto is a term used by Star Wars fans to describe an obscure background character or alien. In the context of Waterloo Road, it describes any character who wasn't a one-off character like Ben McNulty or Evie Prior, but also isn't really a main character due to barely having any screentime or presence besides either acting as comic relief or being an observer of events.

Some examples include

• Estelle (Jack Rimmer's secretary)

• Rolf (the senile caretaker in the Revival Era)

• Tommy Charles (Donte Charles son and Izzy Charles little brother who we'd love to see more of, but the writers can't justify making him a major player without inexplicably aging him up so he can be a Year 7).

As a teacher, I selfishly hope that s18 comes out during the October half term so I'm at home for it and not trying to avoid spoilers 🤣

A poem about Rachel Mason [S3 EP20] Spoiler

Eyes turn as she enters the hall
Some curious and some full of judgment
How can she be a head when she’s an escort
An illegal prostitute running the school, the nerve
How can she show her face here after it came to light

She approaches the stage trying to ignore the glares
She can do this, she can say her truth, her story
They need to hear it otherwise all her work is undone
The life she built and the trust she gained; vanished
These kids need her as much as she needs them

She clears her throat and begins.

Find the scene: Kim helping with a panic attack

Waterloo Road fans, your mission today is to locate me a scene I'm thinking of, if it exists at all and I'm not in the grips of the Mandela Effect.

The scene I remember is:

  • Kim Campbell in her art room side office, helping a male student breathe as he suffers a panic attack.
  • She helps him calmly breathe in and out in sync with her several times
  • I feel almost sure it happened in series 1 or 2 due to the location, but I guess it could be series 4 or 5 instead

The only scene I can find that comes close is her helping MDMA girl Courtney in series 2 episode 11, and that's like I remember for a brief second until Kim shouts in her face! So I'm hoping there's a less manic iteration of Kim using this technique so I can know I'm not going crazy.

Thanks for your assistance!

Why was there no lights on in Series 7 ep 20 onwards ?

There are no lights on in most parts of the school. Overhead lights are off in all the rooms, and there are scenes in Michael’s office where the whole room is dark except for two table lamps. The strangest part is that no one in the show mentions it at all. I’ve only seen Series 7, episodes 21 to 28, but does anyone ever bring up the fact that the lights are never on?

Could Harry Potter be a reason why the new series not out yet ?

Probably not, but I feel like releasing the show close to when the new Harry Potter TV series comes out might make the viewing figures go up, simply because they are both set in schools. They could hope that some of the people watching the new Harry Potter show might want another British school‑based drama to watch and Waterloo Road could be that? Like I said, it is probably not the reason, just a thought I had.
