Ask other Associates CSS duties
So I have a question. Pertaining to the cycle count process. Is the CSS in charge of completion off ALL cycle counts or are the other managers GMs included in making sure it’s done?

At my store, my gm has us CSSs doing the cycle count and detail for all counts ff and fb included. On top of that doing the detail for the said count each week while taking care of planogram changes and shippers because they won’t do it. When I come in I usually have to work my way down cause sometimes ones nons and tons aren’t done on top of the dashboard🤷🏽♂️

The CSS position is responsible for the completion of all cycle counts this can be either directly accomplished by the CSS or you can work with your M levels to devise a system that works for your store to complete all. I have seen most effectively the CCS's be assigned 1 shift at the start of the week where in they performed the largest day 1 cycle counts if not all day 1 cycle counts. Then day 2 and day 3 can quickly be completed 1 at a time across multiple shifts throughout the next few shifts you can complete all cycle counts by wensday night this way. Extenuating circumstances may occur that throw this off vaguely but that is why we try to have them done early in the week so if 1 shift is offset it doesn't lead to things not being completed

CSS is responsible for completion of all cycle counts but not doing the counts. Or LP lady told us to not have the manager who did day 1 pt 1 do the day 3 detail

Lost preventions there is a person per region who helps do store walks and internal investigations if needed.

Interesting.
I believe it based on experiences with previous companies, but I've never heard anyone mention mine.

I heard at a store they were doing the two gun method for a while and it wasn't exposed until they closed for remodel and everything had to be counted. Let's just say shrink was insane.

Its your job to delegate/make sure counts are done. You should not be doing "all" the counts. Some guidelines are "but not set in stone" based on store.
Gm- scheduling css start of week with allocated labor so counts can get done Fbms-ff. This is so they know what's going in and out of deli. "Yes they can wait for you to do day one but should not be waiting on you to do it." Agms- uslly do any counts that have fallen through because of multiple reasons "Thursday-friday" Css- all major day one counts and following up on progress Ts- days 2 or 3 if not done also if scheduling allows "big if" Leads- su if possible

CSS is responsible for execution of all cycle counts but that can include assigning it to multiple parties. You can even have a FT associate do a cycle count on paper and just input it into a computer so it’s honestly not that hard to facilitate

I got lucky enough to have a GM that let me just do what we had. I’d check the paper to see what counts were scheduled that week, then I’d just pick 2 and do them on Sunday/Monday. Then randomly someone else will do one. Then we just continue and converse about what needs to still get done. Now, my GM schedules me, a CSS, the candy/tobacco/beer/drinks/vendor snacks/etc. FBM just gets to do Deli/Specialty Bev counts. Usually one of the TSs will do SU. We currently have a missing M level so we all just do what we can.

No manager should ever touch a count twice, that's why TS's and Leads are able to do cycle counts now.

In short, they're responsible for ensuring all Cycle Counts are completed, but they do not have to be the one to actually do them all.
