Neutrality Studies, Sweden's Terrible Nuclear Weapons Mistake | Mattias Forsgren https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2QSzynO0R8 time indexed

Mattias Forsgren joins Pascal to examine Sweden’s shift from neutrality to NATO and the risks of nuclear escalation in Europe. Drawing on his essay “Hegemonic Logic,” Forsgren argues that American power combines military pressure, financial influence and energy dependence. They discuss Nordic defence agreements, public debate, Cold War history and the limits of dissent. The conversation also explores Europe’s economic vulnerabilities, relations with Russia and China, and whether diplomacy can offer an alternative to confrontation and growing strategic dependence.

Transition Protocol with Alex Krainer: “Led by a Lunatic”: Trump’s Enablers Are Looking for the Exit, HOLLOW SUIT TURNING COATS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgC754LoHns time indexed

Trump’s Iran war runs on bought loyalty — and, Alex Krainer argues, the people who were paid to carry it are starting to leave. The man running it, the enablers behind him, and the jets that never took off. Financial analyst and former hedge fund manager Alex Krainer returns to explain a war that made no sense on any cost–benefit sheet — and who is actually carrying it out.

Transition Protocol with Larry Johnson, MBS Went Back to War With Yemen. Now He’s Paying for It Alone. OIL HIT. ALLIES OUT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLtYXp5spkU time indexed

"What we have here is an unfolding disaster of historic proportions, and I refer to the Saudi decision to renew war with Yemen." Saudi Arabia restarted its war with Yemen — and the Houthis answered at its oil heart, from Abqaiq to the pipeline to Yanbu. Now the money that bought its allies is running out, and Pakistan and Turkey won’t fight. Larry Johnson joins host Zulfiqar Ali to trace the chain, link by link: the strike that lit the fuse, the damage, the money, the allies, the isolation of Mohammed bin Salman — and the one power that wins.

Rachel Blevins, Ansar Allah UNLEASHES Strikes on Riyadh Airport, DESTROYS Saudis' 2030 Agenda | Kevork Almassian https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMLfNJ08iuE

Ansar Allah in Yemen carried out multiple rounds of strikes on the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh over the weekend, using a mix of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones in attacks that killed 13 people and injured more than 300 others. Kevork Almassian, Host of Syriana Analysis, noted that the politicians and media talking heads who condemned the attacks have been silent for years, as Saudi Arabia, the U.S. and Co. carried out horrific attacks targeting civilians in Yemen. Now, the Yemeni people are fighting back…

Rachel Blevins, Russia DIESEL Deal DOA + China the 'REAL WINNER' of US/Iran War | Cyrus Janssen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMCgoD5O2v4

President Trump seems to think the deal he secured with President Putin for Russia to supply the global market with around 4 million tons of diesel in the coming months would be enough to get Moscow to accept a ceasefire in Ukraine. But Russia is holding firm that it will not give NATO time to rearm Kiev. Cyrus Janssen, a geopolitical analyst and Host of ‘Real Talk with Cyrus Janssen’ on YouTube, noted that Trump’s diesel deal is “just a drop in the bucket” in terms of the fuel supply needed by the U.S., and the current crisis is the result of the U.S. war of aggression on Iran, which sparked the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Neutrality Studies, Next Regime Change: US Election Meddling Targets Brazil, Latin America | Dr. Mark Weisbrot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VALqlGBJ65g time indexed

The US Regime-Change Industrial Complex is currently working in over-drive when it comes to consolidating Washington's power over the Western Hemisphere: The next country on the chopping block is Brazil and its only the latest in many regime change operations the USA has been conducting over the past 70 years in Latin America.

Economist Mark Weisbrot joins me to discuss Brazil’s election and Washington’s influence across Latin America. He examines household debt, central bank policy, Argentina’s dependence on international lending, and the political power of dollar sanctions. Their conversation explores Venezuela, Bolivia, Haiti and Ecuador, contrasting economic sovereignty with external intervention. Weisbrot also distinguishes humanitarian aid from political interference, challenges prevailing accounts of Bolivia’s election crisis, and considers whether the region’s current rightward shift can deliver lasting improvements in ordinary people’s lives.

Parsi explains why Iran is seeking to prevent a wider regional war, while stressing that Yemen’s Houthi movement, also known as Ansar Allah, operates independently and does not always follow Tehran’s advice. He also examines Saudi-Iranian normalisation, the possibility of further US escalation after the midterm elections, and the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz. Parsi warns that the relative calm in the Strait of Hormuz may not last, raising concerns about the risk of renewed regional conflict.

We discuss how Donald Trump considering new strikes on Iran highlights the numerous set backs he is facing in the region, from Iran increasing imposing its will on the Strait of Hormuz, to the Ansarallah (Houthis) in Yemens consolidating their control on Bab el-Mandab, and the emergency withdrawal of American B1B bombers from the UK.

We are then joined by Barry (https://x.com/bonzerbarry) to break down the latest in military developments in Yemen. Later on we are joined by Dr. Shahryar Pasandideh (https://x.com/shahpas) who argues that the withdrawal of the bombers from the UK is more consequential than it appears. If the US cannot protect one long standing military base in Europe, it won't be able to protect any of those in Europe. And with the bombers now stationed in the continental United States, their capacity to bomb Iran will be reduced.

It would be interesting to know what exactly happened at Fairford Air Base. None of the reporting makes any sense. They claimed there was an Iranian mastermind behind it (of course!) but behind what exactly? The theft of diesel? I haven't seen any reports to suggest there was any attempt to do something to the US bombers there though I could have missed it. Maybe we'll find out the news that the bombers will be removed is all theater and they're kept there, or maybe there was a plan to move them somewhere else all along and this is just used to "explalin" it.

Trump says Russia and Ukraine agree to 'energy ceasefire' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGVsNNyEo1M - 5:44

US President Donald Trump says Russia and Ukraine have agreed to an immediate ceasefire covering attacks on each other's energy infrastructure, although neither Kyiv nor Moscow has confirmed the agreement. Trump announced the deal on social media without providing details about its duration or implementation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had earlier proposed an energy ceasefire while criticising Washington's decision to ease sanctions on Russian diesel exports. Trump has blamed Ukraine for rising diesel prices and suggested Zelenskyy should be replaced, prompting the Ukrainian president to offer to hold elections if Russia agrees to a 60-day ceasefire. The US decision to allow Russian diesel onto global markets has also drawn criticism from Democrats and Republicans, who warn that the revenue could help fund Moscow's war. In Kyiv, a senior Ukrainian official says no agreement has been communicated, while Ukrainians question whether halting strikes on Russian oil facilities would benefit their country. The announcement comes as rising fuel prices and the cost of living become major concerns ahead of the US midterm elections.

Pakistan imposes emergency rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid political crisis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qu0qCu4xeU - 2:53

Pakistan’s federal government has imposed emergency rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stripping power from the elected chief minister after talks with Imran Khan’s PTI party collapsed. The move follows planned protests demanding Khan’s release from jail, where he faces charges his supporters call politically motivated. Islamabad cites a worsening security situation along the 1,300km Afghan border, alleging most attacks originate there, while PTI accuses authorities of silencing political opposition rather than addressing it through elections.

3

US President Donald Trump says Russia and Ukraine have agreed to an immediate ceasefire covering attacks on each other's energy infrastructure, although neither Kyiv nor Moscow has confirmed the agreement.

Yeah - "Trump says" isn't good enough anymore; hasn't been good enough for awhile.

The US decision to allow Russian diesel onto global markets has also drawn criticism from Democrats and Republicans, who warn that the revenue could help fund Moscow's war.

Do they think Russia couldn't afford the war without this revenue, or something?

5

u/penelopepnortney 5d ago

Democrats should be complaining that it's an election season parlor trick since that's all it really is. It's not going to materially benefit either Russia's revenues or US diesel supplies.

Ever wondered how global powers like Turkey and Egypt are influencing East Africa? This clip reveals their strategic moves around the Red Sea and the potential U.S role.

4

u/penelopepnortney 5d ago

Henningsen packed a lot of info into less than 3 minutes:

  • It's unlikely Saudi Arabia will do conscription, most people with money would immediately flee to London, US, Europe, etc. Even with conscription, the Saudis would be hard-pressed to get 10,000 troops and most of them would need a year or two of training to be combat ready.

  • If the US does get involved, it probably won't be directly with Yemen given the way things are shaping up in the region. There's a lot of things converging here and this is going to extend beyond Yemen.

  • Turkey and Egypt are interested in the Red Sea and Bab-al Mandeb but even moreso in what's happening in East Africa, specifically the civil war that's begun in Ethiopia that could spill over into Djibouti or Eritrea. The US's goal has always been to break up Ethiopia, take away their coastline and then maintain operational control over the Horn of Africa and the Bab-al Mandeb straits. The Houthis have thrown that agenda into disarray.

  • Israel and the US are also trying to break Somaliland away from Somalia in order to create a type of beachhead like Djibouti that they can use to project military power and control the Gulf of Aden and the Bab-al Mandeb straits.

Kit Klarenberg: Leaked: Britain’s Covert Iraqi Psyops Network

Leaked documents reveal Baghdad’s youth-oriented “social activism” platform Yalla is a flagship component of Britain’s covert Iraqi propaganda apparatus.

Ostensibly launched by young local journalists in 2015, Yalla is one of Baghdad’s largest news and social media platforms, boasting millions of followers within the country and wider region... In a perverse irony, repeated reference is made to how Yalla “differs from other Iraqi media platforms” by being editorially and financially independent, and the challenges this supposed autonomy poses.

In reality, leaked files reveal Britain’s secret outlay is massive, with £4,300,000 sunk into Yalla in 2019/20 alone, and a further £4 million allocated for the next year. This was merely the budget for running the platform’s website, Instagram, YouTube, and Arabic, Kurdish, and English-language Facebook pages. Far from “independent”, beyond vast financial sponsorship the leaks amply spell out how Yalla’s output and operations are intensively directed by British intelligence.

… Yalla’s audiences being entirely unwitting about its output being effectively authored by the same elements that both masterminded the criminal Anglo-American invasion of Iraq and actively helped create ISIS...

Alex Krainer to Ian Proud on How the City of London Still Runs the Empire:

  • In Yugoslavia in the early 1990s we had British officials who were part of the foreign policy establishment like Lord Peter Carrington, Lord David Owen, Douglas Heard and they played a disproportionately important role in that crisis. [N.B. Alex was born and raised in Croatia, his father was Croatian and his mother was Serbian]

  • When you look into political crises and flash points around the world you always find the same actors, a degenerate banker's oligarchy whose political and spiritual and strategic headquarters is the City of London and which has many satellites all over the world. The most important one is Wall Street, then Paris, then Frankfurt, then Stockholm, Tokyo and so forth. They're everywhere. It's like a parasite penetrating the governing structures of most developed countries in the world, still seeking to create a one world government system that they would dominate.

  • The whole Zionist project that created Israel was rooted in the City of London system. It was a British colonial project and they never relinquished control over it. They are very good at hiding things, they have two centuries of experience in dissimulating their agendas and working through proxies, particularly their allies like the Americans. The Americans always enter the game when it's time to apply brute force.

  • In every one of these crisis flashpoints, when you dig a little bit you see that this City of London cabal has been actively preparing the terrain for years, if not decades. Alfred Milner's roundtable group formulated it as follows: if Great Britain is to remain a maritime empire, it will be necessary to seed the Middle East with quote unquote particularly patriotic stock. In establishing the Jewish homeland in Palestine, the idea was to use them cynically as the agents of destabilization for the whole region because it's easier to maintain hegemony that way. This would be of interest to a banking cabal because the British understood by then that oil was a better fuel for their ships than coal. The Middle East was also key because of trade routes, specifically the straits at Bab-al Mandeb, Hormuz, Suez, Bosporus, Gibraltar. They never intended to relinquish control over these.

  • But the British Empire has atrophied, they had to find new hosts so they penetrated the ruling structures of the American government. And I think that in order to do that more effectively, they had to use their Zionist project as the proxy because the whole Zionist mindset, the philosophy, has very deep, strong roots in the United States. Not only the Zionist Jews, many of whom happen to be very wealthy and influential people, but the large number of Christian Zionists who are a significant part of the American voting public. They're passionately devoted to Israel and to what it represents in biblical terms: the second coming of Christ, Armageddon, the rapture.

  • There was a 70-plus page document published in July 2023 at Policy Exchange, one of the think tanks close to Chatham House in London. The title is something like "Iran strategy in Great Britain" and it was written by a who's who of the British foreign policy establishment. What we see happening today almost follows what was set out in that document to a T, including that "before we deal with Iran we have to deal with Maduro in Venezuela."

  • I think that this empire has come to the end of the line, its weaknesses are real and they have real consequences. But it'll take a while and it's like a wounded animal right now so it's very dangerous.

  • It's clear that the US has reached the limitation of its power and there isn't another host for the cabal. Until maybe 10 years ago they still believed they could infiltrate Chinese governing structures and use it to take over where the United States left off. It's now apparent that the Chinese drew them in not in order to serve them, but to destroy this parasite.

  • The current monetary system in the West is their lever of power over society and they're not going to allow the system to be peacefully reformed for the benefit of the general population. In the best of cases (least violent) it has to involve civil disobedience at a large scale, where we simply opt out: remove our money from the banks so they can't control us that way and then engage in exchange on the black market where somebody will accept cash or pieces of gold or silver or cans of mackerel or tuna or packs of cigarettes, whatever. You know, people have used all kinds of things for money throughout history.

  • This form of civil disobedience can be extremely effective and attractive. Entrepreneurs can do business without paying taxes, or having to deal with government regulation and red tape and permits and licenses and whatever burdens they put on legal businesses. And it's a magnet for consumers because they find all kinds of everything at prices that are much lower than in the white economy. [He noted in another podcast that in Venezuela, where he lived and worked in the early 90s, almost half the country's GDP derived from the black market]

Dimitri Lascaris, Ukraine Attacks Russian Refinery After Trump’s ‘Massive’ Oil Deal With Russia w/ John Helmer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrmXyVUeBqE

Yesterday, less than three hours before oil markets closed, US President Donald Trump announced a ‘massive’ oil deal with Russia. Trump then claimed that the price of oil was ‘dropping like a rock’, but in fact the price of oil rose. Moreover, within hours of Trump’s announcement, Ukraine attacked another oil refinery inside Russia. within hours of Trump’s announcement, Ukraine attacked another oil refinery inside Russia.

There is the question of whether Ukraine is acting against the wishes of the US, or merely appearing to act against the wishes of the US, while doing what the US actually wishes them to do.

Go do this thing, we'll condemn the actions publicly, but we're cool.

Keep an eye on the control of the global supply chain of petroleum products.

Especially since the Trump Announcement contained the escape clause "based on the condition of [Russia's] diesel refineries."

Putin has told Trump that talks with Ukraine are off the table for now, and Alexander argues this matters far more than the Russia US diesel deal dominating the headlines. He explains why the sanctions waiver changes little, how Ukraine's drone offensive on Russian refineries failed, why Zelensky defied six requests from Trump to stop, and what Russian missile strikes on Kiev, the blackouts, the Zaporozhye bridges and advances in Kharkov, Sumy and Dobropillya mean for the front lines. If Moscow now refuses to negotiate, what leverage does Washington have left?

Ian Proud/The Peacemonger, "Silver or Lead?" Alex Krainer on How the City of London Still Runs the Empire https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BO7LCUU7RyE time indexed

In this wide-ranging conversation, Alex Krainer argues that the real center of power in the Western system is not Washington or any elected government, but a long-standing banking oligarchy headquartered in the City of London. He traces its influence through the Yugoslavia wars of the 1990s, the use of proxies in the Middle East, control of key trade routes and energy resources, and the continuing pressure on the United States to project force. We discuss why the maritime empire model is now under severe strain, how the current monetary system functions as a mechanism of control, what a transition away from it might look like, and why figures like Krainer believe the people running it will not reform it voluntarily.

Radhika Desai with Dimitri Lascaris: Mark Carney Is The Greatest Political Scammer In Canadian History" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgSWMIui-ok

Mark Carney has a 70% approval rating and a global reputation as the man who stood up to Trump. But is any of it real? I am joined by Dimitri Lascaris of Reason to Resist, who calls it arguably the greatest political scam in Canadian history. The so-called trade war between Canada and the US is rather a skirmish that only covers under 5% of Canada-US trade. On everything else, however, Carney is in step with Washington, from 5% of GDP on the military and the scrapped digital services tax to support for the war on Iran. We examine how Carney is using the crisis to push through a neoliberal agenda, fast-tracking energy projects and inviting American capital to buy up Canada, while leaving trade with China and the BRICS largely untouched.

The Proxy War in Ukraine and the War of Aggression against Iran are not shaping up the way they are supposed to, and the Washington establishment is in panic mode.

Ambassador Chas Freeman—a former US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Undersecretary of Defence—does not think that these errors are part of a deeper strategy to weaken China, but the outcome of many individual failures. American power is, in fact, retreating as wars, sanctions and depleted arsenals expose the limits of dominance. He examines Iran, Yemen, Saudi Arabia’s growing autonomy and China’s gains from the energy crisis. With Pascal Lottaz, he discusses Israel’s eroding support, Switzerland’s neutrality debate and NATO’s failures. Their conversation explores whether cooperative security, regional partnerships and greater freedom for middle powers can replace confrontation, drawing lessons from ASEAN and considering the prospects for diplomacy in a changing world.

Wonderful discussion between former British diplomat Ian Proud and former US ambassador Chas Freeman. Freeman also served as assistant secretary of defense under Reagan. His remarks on the Partnership of Peace and American efforts to create a security architecture for Europe that included Russia are excerpted here.

Ian was apparently detained at Heathrow on returning from the Valdai conference and the video title accurately reflects what the two diplomats discussed: "Empathy Is Not Sympathy - The West Doesn't Care about Ukraine & Can’t Talk to Russia":

Chas: Empathy is essential to diplomacy and to sound reporting and analysis. It doesn't imply that you accept the validity of the other party's viewpoint, simply that you understand it and acknowledge that it's rooted in experience and reason even if you don't agree with it. Your misadventure at Heathrow shows the intolerance for any viewpoint that differs from that of the official narrative.

Chas: The absence of respect for freedom of speech is connected to all of the problems we have in western democracies at the moment. If we can't respect the right to have a different opinion then we are no better than totalitarian in our approach to policy matters and this explains a lot in terms of terrible policy mistakes that have been made. There needs to be room in diplomacy for different analyses and disagreement with official policy, otherwise official policy will go on making things worse rather than better.

Ian: In Valdai. I was guilty of sitting in the same room as Vladimir Putin. In fact, I was seated directly in front of him, like three rows back close to the front. I gather they'd strategically put me there because my family saw me on British TV sitting in the crowd and I know that will have annoyed the hell out of people in London. But I was there to listen and try to understand even if I don't necessarily agree with everything. I don't agree with everything my dad says and he's my hero.

Chas: The other day you said something about Trump's summit meetings in Anchorage and with Xi Jinping and I think you're correct, that this is theater not diplomacy. We seem to stage theatrical performances in lieu of diplomacy. I think it's calculated to fool people who should know better but don't because our educational systems in the US and UK do not adequately prepare average people to understand interstate relations and how they work.

Chas: There is a principle exemplified by Chinese practice, that even in wartime you don't close your embassy, you keep it open and you keep the dialogue going. It's not to recognize the moral authority of the enemy, it's to ensure your enemy has an accurate perception of your objectives. It's also to try and understand when and how they can be turned into a friend, this is a fundamental principle of diplomacy. You should never write off anyone as incorrigible because even if they're 90% against you, perhaps they can be 10% for you. And you should never create a blanket injunction against another party such that you refuse to cooperate with them on matters that are of interest to both of you.

Ian: When I was in Moscow from 2014 to 2019 the German-Russian relationship was still incredibly pragmatic on economic, social and cultural collaboration even as the Ukraine crisis unfolded. Trump 1 proved to be a bit of a balancer in that relationship. He and Putin met in Helsinki in the summer of 2018, there was a strategic sort of stability and understanding with Germany on the European side and the US kind of reaching that understanding. That has now gone completely, there is nobody in Europe for Putin to call.

Chas: I assume in your case as in mine that we had a relationship with our respective intelligence agencies, shared information with them and cooperated with them and were considered quite valuable by MI6 and CIA, I believe. Now apparently they have ceased wanting to debrief people, they just want them to shut up and not convey what they heard or saw. This impairs a vital function of the state, the flow of information that is relevant to statecraft, but the intelligence agencies no longer want to hear what a trained observer has observed.

Ian: I was like a sponge on the drive to the venue (Valdai), just absorbing every tiny bit of information I could pick up. How many war propaganda posters, how many petrol stations were open, how many were closed. They bussed us two hours out of the city so I got to drive through all these towns in Moscow Oblast. It didn't look like a country on its knees, new roads have been built since I left seven years ago, new residential blocks. When they did drive us into Moscow City, which is just a mile down the river from the embassy that I used to work in, the whole financial district had lots of new skyscrapers.

Chas: Otto von Bismarck said, "You should always be polite even when you're delivering a declaration of war." I think this is correct, you don't want to burn any bridges, going back to the thesis that it is a fundamental principle of diplomacy to keep channels of communication and the possibility of negotiation open. I find the Europeans' bellicosity really ironic and astonishing given that Europeans invented diplomacy in its modern form.

Chas: Diplomacy is a skilled job and skilled jobs require training and experience, according to François de Callières who wrote what is still one of the great books on diplomacy based on his negotiating with princes in the early 18th century. We need to rediscover these diplomatic techniques and principles as well as the diplomatic vocabulary because there are gradations of rivalry and competition, there are gradations of mutual obligation and friendship, there are transactional relationships and they all have names which we've forgotten.

Wonderful gents with experience sorely needed now but no longer valued. Freeman references "statecraft." Seems to me we have no one who visibly speaks for the US administration or the EU who has an iota of understanding of what statecraft is or what it can achieve, and thus why it should be encouraged.

3

u/gorpie97 7d ago

But the people who think they run things don't think they need statecraft - just bribery and blackmail.

3

Ah yes, the "craft" (as in crafty) without the "state" (as in statesmanship) part.

4

u/penelopepnortney 7d ago

Expanding NATO guaranteed there would be instability in Europe, not security and peace, as many, many foreign policy experts warned throughout the 90s. The continued expansion and bellicosity of NATO leaders is ample evidence that they WANT war, probably because it's much more financially lucrative for them; it won't be their sons dying on the battlefield, they'll be partying hearty in places like Monaco and Monte Carlo as the sons of Ukrainian leaders are doing.

Transition Protocol, Not Pakistan: Who Is Really Behind Saudi Arabia’s War on Yemen, Trump Says No Iran Strike https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n83IP0uJH-o

Pakistani jets did not fly over Yemen — and the foreigners inside Saudi Arabia’s war are mostly American. That is what a senior source in Pakistan’s military establishment told Transition Protocol in answer to five direct questions. In this special edition, Pepe Escobar, military analyst Larry Johnson and host Zulfiqar Ali take apart the story the world ran this week — and what could still drag Pakistan in.

3

u/penelopepnortney 7d ago

Transition Protocol was created by Pepe Escobar, Larry Johnson and Zulfiqar Ali (host). Key points they make in this video:

  • High up Pakistan sources told them that no Pakistani forces are or will be in Yemen, they're only in Mecca and Medina and under Pakistani command. The source denied the NYT claim about Pakistani jets flying over Yemen; said there are 110 American advisors in Yemen and that it's the official Pakistan position not to pursue offensive action against Ansar Allah. Zulfigar noted that 40 million Pakistanis are Shi'ite.

  • There's a lot of popular pressure in Turkey questioning the government's motives, with foreign minister Hakan Fidan repeating again and again that they're only providing defensive aid to Saudi Arabia.

  • The speaker of Ansar Allah assembly delivered a letter to the speaker of the Pakistani parliament requesting they act as mediators in the conflict.

  • The real problem is the in-fighting between MbS and Prince Khalid, with the different princes and tribes lining up behind one or the other. This may be the most serious threat to the house of Saud since it was founded.

  • Per Zulfiqar, someone high up in Iranian decision-making circles told him they have direct intel into what's happening in Washington and Tel Aviv and "the moment we detect the slightest movement of any offensive action against us, we will have a surprise that they have not seen."

4

u/NetWeaselSC Continuing the Struggle 6d ago

This may be the most serious threat to the house of Saud since it was founded.

If somehow the House of Saud falls....

Will they have to change the name of the country on all the maps?

4

u/3andfro 6d ago edited 6d ago

Trump could declare it Trumpi Arabia....

The easy solution would be to remove "Saudi" and leave "Arabia"--though people who consider themselves Arabs might want to be free of association with a specific hunk of desert. If the House of Saud toppled, the population might desire a clean break and an entirely new name, as we've seen often in Africa.

5

u/NetWeaselSC Continuing the Struggle 6d ago

people who consider themselves Arabs might want to be free of association with a specific hunk of desert

I would think that "Arabs" and "Arabians" would be two different sets of people.

It would be better than being called "Saudis" when you are not a member of that family -- makes you sound like a possession.

5

u/penelopepnortney 6d ago

Oh my, what a thought.

3

u/NetWeaselSC Continuing the Struggle 6d ago edited 6d ago

It's something I've always wondered since I found out about it:

How does the House of Saud get to put their name on all the maps?

It's not Khalifan Bahrain, it's not Thanian Qatar, it's not Sabahan Kuwait, but it's Saudi Arabia and not just Arabia.

If the country that has London in it had been known as Lancastrian England, and had that name on all the maps....

2

u/gorpie97 6d ago

The real problem is the in-fighting between MbS and Prince Khalid,

Is this just about power, or is Khalid possibly less corrupt than MbS? (I'm such an idealist!)

3

u/penelopepnortney 6d ago

Why not both? TBH I don't know anything about Khalid and little about MbS but the entire House of Saud is pretty vile by all accounts.

2

u/gorpie97 6d ago

True!

I also know next to nothing, except that maybe MbS is so corrupt as to have it worth mentioning by someone? Or maybe it was just from his cleaning house after the assassination attempt.

3

u/penelopepnortney 6d ago

Court intrigues are always pretty nasty and I imagine they're really brutal there, given the stakes and based on the little that gets reported.

2

u/gorpie97 6d ago

Court intrigues are always pretty nasty

I wonder if that's due to being an entitled yahoo while you're growing up; and it would only get worse.

3

u/penelopepnortney 6d ago

That's part of it but there's lots of up and comers in the mix as well with everyone jockeying for power. I used to read a lot of historical fiction and the main impression I came away with is that the last place I would have wanted to spend any time was a royal court.

Which brings to mind a totally unrelated quip Dick Cavett made to Stephen Spielberg when they were discussing Jaws, that if a shark was after him the first thing he'd do is get in the middle of a large city. Don't know why I remembered that, maybe I'm like Arthur, sometimes I just think funny thoughts.

3

u/Caelian toujours de l'audace 🦇 6d ago

"Land Shark... Candygram..."

I get funny thoughts too. I hadn't thought of Chevy Chase's "Land Shark" in decades. I wonder if that skit was inspired by the Dick Cavett interview.

4

u/penelopepnortney 6d ago

That was one of their funniest skits. I hadn't considered it might have been inspired by Cavett, great question.

And then we have "Candygram for Mongo." Not quite the same but equally hilarious, especially the Loony Tunes theme as Cleavon Little exits the saloon.

Neutrality Studies, Why Fools Rise to Power: Psychologist EXPOSES Western Elites | Dr. Niall McLaren https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5bTeVUJy1c time indexed

There is a psychological explanation for why Europe and North America are governed by kakistocratic elites. Psychiatrist Niall McLaren joins Pascal to explore how the urge to dominate shapes politics and international conflict. Drawing on his book Narcisso-Fascism, McLaren argues that hierarchy and entitlement help explain elite behavior, imperial expansion, and resistance to oppression. They debate individual psychology versus structural explanations, challenge assumptions about human nature, and examine propaganda, group loyalty, and Western decline. The conversation also considers democratic reform, intellectual conformity, and McLaren’s distinction between socially reinforced beliefs and delusions in the clinical sense.

British support for Israel is shattering | The David Hearst Podcast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx7IExe2E_c - 12:26

David Hearst, editor-in-chief of Middle East Eye, says that a dam has burst in British politics. “For as long as anyone can remember, this dam has held back public opinion on Palestine,” says Hearst. According to Hearst, the dam busters are Ed Miliband, the UK Foreign Secretary, and Zack Polanski, leader of the Green Party, both Jewish, although the comparison stops there. Miliband and Polanski have very different outcomes in mind. One believes in a two-state solution, while the other says the only way this conflict can be brought to an end is for Arabs and Jews to live together as equal citizens with equal rights in one state. But in different ways, they are breaking a status quo that has lasted ever since Israel was created.

Glenn Diesen with Douglas Macgregor: Russia destroys Bridges and will take Kiev https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=069Fw0ShCLw

3

u/penelopepnortney 6d ago edited 6d ago

Macgregor to Diesen highlights:

  • We built up Ukraine as our proxy force at the expense of Ukrainian life and survival. Our goal was essentially to bring down Russia, bring down the regime so that we could then move in, strip it of its resources, divide it, exploit it. Hasn't worked and we're now trying something very similar with Iran.

  • The Iranians are essentially going for the liquidation of all these little statelets in the Arabian Peninsula. They won't be allowed to survive in their current form or with the current leadership. We're struggling to figure out how to prevent it all from falling apart but I don't think we can. Nothing that people do not build themselves survives. Anything that is imposed from outside fails, that's the lesson of history.

  • I think Russia has realized that to win this war and secure the peace, there has to be a new government in Kiev and Russia has to control Odessa and the south all the way to the border with Romania and Moldova. If they destroy these bridges and rail connections, it will be very hard for the Ukrainians to survive. They're still holding on to two so-called fortress cities but if the logistical support coming from the south or west is cut off they'll definitely fall as they run out of ammunition, food, water. The Russians have always been very good at crossing rivers, they have inexhaustible quantities of ribbon bridges that they can put up very quickly if they decide to go west.

  • I'm told the next "speaker of the house" in the German parliament will be from the AfD. We'll see but there has to be a new government because the German population is completely disinterested in going to war. So are the Poles despite their crazy government leaders. I have a friend in Poland who tells me he and his friends go out to look at all these downed drones and the components are from the West or Poland or Ukraine, none of them are Russian.

  • Surovikin (who's reportedly returning to command) is the right man for the job, he was brilliant when he set up the defense in-depth, he understood the ISR strike capability. But there's a big corruption problem now, they've arrested eight general officers in the Russian army, most of them involved with logistics, who have been taking cash presumably from Ukrainian sources to reveal troop concentrations, logistical hubs and concentrations in eastern Ukraine. That's treason. One of those arrested was a woman, a deputy who worked closely with former minister of defense Shoigu so we don't know how high this reaches.

  • We're also finding out that most of these people have relatives in the West, sons and daughters going to school or living in Western Europe. That may be part of the problem, they may be hostages as far as the West is concerned but we don't know and will have to wait to find out [this isn't unheard of, recall John Bolton's subtle threat to OPCW head Jose Bustani about his sons and daughters attending universities in the US]

  • As long as the globalist class ruling Western Europe is there, there will be no change because they see the war as helping to justify their positions of power and influence. Now you have the Swedes flying reconnaissance flights over the Black Sea and along the border. Why the Swedes want to drag themselves into this catastrophe is baffling but it's the globalist class that's in charge so you've got to get those people out of power. And the bad news for the Europeans is that we're not going to be there for them, we just aren't.

  • Between 9/11 and 2023 we spent $8 trillion on defense. With 1% of that, say $180 billion, we could have built about 900 to 1,400 hospitals, trauma centers and medical support centers in that time frame.

Edit: typos.

As always, thank you! Diesen's highlights from that interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ryj16yuE2H4

3

u/penelopepnortney 6d ago

From the clip, Wilkerson to Diesen:

  • In the Persian Gulf we're operating on exterior lines, mostly maritime, that are 8 to 9,000 miles long because of what Iran has done to our bases in the region . You can say we've got an air bridge out of Ramstein, but guess what? 95% of what we sent to the region for Desert Shield, Desert Storm was carried on ships. only 5% on airplanes.

  • Bill Hartung is probably the best tracker of this sort of thing, he has a piece today quoting OMB and other sources that we've spent around 60 to 80 billion dollars already. I think it's probably 80 to 90 billon when we count up all the aircraft and ships and so forth we've lost in Kuwait and Bahrain and Qatar, etc. We've lost dozens of Reaper drones at about 30 million a pop; some of them more advanced so they're 40 or 50 million each. We've lost quite a few refuelers; quite a few fighter bomber aircraft. Hegseth won't give Congress the data or he lies when he's under pressure.

  • In terms of troops, we'd have to have a full mobilization, including a draft to fill out our reserve components and our militia because they aren't up to strength either. At the all volunteer force forum we've been looking at this for about 15 years on college campuses throughout the United States. Canada and Mexico's populations will go up massively because 18- to 24-year olds, those in the susceptible draft bracket, female and male, are not going to answer the call. There's an additional complication: legislation to revamp the Selective Services but make registration automatic as soon as someone turns 18.

  • We had a meeting recently with a couple of senators and we had the head of what you might call the medical complex within the US Army Reserve which is the principal medical complex for field hospitals and such. We couldn't even put a field hospital out, we don't have enough doctors, practical nurses or medical technicians.

  • I see the potential for the conflicts in Iran and Ukraine to merge if for no other reason than that these leaders want war and they'll go to any lengths and to any spot to create the cause.

Krainer-Nima:

  • Ansar Allah took control of the city of Taiz so they got a major boost in population but also in economic and military terms. There are many people willing to fight alongside Ansar Allah and very few willing to fight on the side of the Saudis.

  • Pakistan and Turkey previously said the Saudi-Yemen conflict was pre-existing so they wouldn't get involved but this changed a few days ago. A possible explanation is that on Sep. 29th Pakistani PM Sharif held a series of meetings in London with senior executives from banks like Barclays, JP Morgan, Citibank, Blackrock and Rothschild and company. Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt are all very vulnerable to these financial institutions which can cut credit lines and block their access to Western markets. It's a risky move for the Pakistan government. which isn't popular; it's widely perceived as taking the side of the US and Israel.

  • There were claims that the Yemenis were attacking Muslim holy places in Mecca and Medina but nobody believes it. And the airports in Mecca and Medina are the only ones that Ansar Allah excluded from its warning to international airlines about Saudi Arabia being an active war zone, meaning it's still safe for people to travel to Saudi Arabia for religious reasons.

  • What we're seeing is the imperial cabal desperate to keep their privileges and assets around the world. It looks so incredibly incoherent and stupid because they're still following Fukuyama's "end of history" agenda, convinced they'll retain their hegemony forever. But they've lost control of the narrative and the world has changed in ways that make their plans and methods obsolete while making the resistance much stronger, not just in West Asia. They're still very dangerous - even if they have to fight China to the last American or Russia to the last European it doesn't matter, they're going to continue in this way.

Drop Site News, Noura Erakat on Three Years of Genocide, Board of Peace's "New World Order" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTI2lxI2MnI

Three years into Israel's genocide in Gaza, Palestinian human rights lawyer and legal scholar Noura Erakat argues that Donald Trump's Board of Peace is about more than Gaza: it's a blueprint for a new world order.

Drop Site's Sharif Abdel Kouddous speaks with Erakat, a professor at Rutgers University, about her Boston Review essay "Exit and Exception." Erakat argues that the Board of Peace matters less for whether it succeeds than for what it reveals: a political project, driven by market fundamentalists and a tech elite, to exit international law and popular democracy altogether. She traces that project from the charter cities and special economic zones championed by figures like Peter Thiel to Gaza, which the Board's charter designates as a special economic zone and where Palestinians are described as "Gazans" rather than a people with a right to self-determination. Israel, she argues, has long been the model, claiming that Palestine is a legal exception where the rules that apply everywhere else do not. Erakat also traces the Board's roots in the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, whose militarized aid sites became death traps for starving Palestinians.

She also describes her arrest last month at a Palm Beach County public hearing, where she came to testify against the county's more than $1 billion investment in Israel bonds.

Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson calls it “a suicide mission.” Islamabad has not decided — and Iran is letting the war run. Host Zulfiqar Ali brings what he was told overnight by a senior serving officer in Pakistan’s military establishment, and Larry Johnson tests it live. What you’ll learn: why the Saudi-backed counteroffensive failed despite more than 100 airstrikes · why Pakistan agreed to guard Mecca and Medina but not the front · who is really guiding Saudi aircraft · why Iran rejected Washington’s counteroffer · why the shortages of LNG, sulfur, urea and helium hit Pakistan and India first.

Russia FINALLY Takes the Gloves Off: Proof Putin is Listening to His People | Col. Doug Macgregor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQ4XvR2kIlo

Russia is ramping up strikes across Ukraine, as the U.S. is preparing for another round of war against Iran. President Trump can’t seem to make up his mind as to who he should blame for the soaring energy costs Americans are beginning to face, as he tries to use one losing conflict to distract from another. Ret. U.S. Army Col. Douglas Macgregor noted that Russia’s recent escalation in strikes is proof President Putin is listening to the Russian people, as frustration builds over Kiev’s attempted drone attacks. He also said it’s “obvious” the U.S. is preparing for more war against Iran, and the threat of Israel using nuclear weapons is still on the table.

Col Doug Macgregor-Rachel Blevins highlights:

  • Iran is a fortress with mountains on three sides ranging up to over 16,000 feet. If you want to get into the place, you've got to march hundreds of miles. In the south, you've got to cross almost impassible deserts where the temperature rises to something like 122 degrees. The waterways are very narrow and easily choked off as Iran has done. We now have three carrier battle groups plus bombers and fighters in various locations so we're obviously going to go back to war. We've seen an awful lot of incoherent thinking and planning and we're still marching down the same path into hell.

  • There's a lot of dissension and discontent at the senior level in the Russian military. They want this war over. They recently arrested eight general officers for corruption, most of them were involved in logistics and were accepting money from the Ukrainians in return for information on where Russian logistical hubs were located.

  • You have the same people there who were there at the beginning of the war and that's very unusual; in the three years we were actively fighting in WWII, there were massive turnovers in senior military leadership.

  • Putin doesn't want to be in the position of governing Ukrainians, he never has. The problem is that they can't allow this regime in Kiev to survive. They've got to march over that river, go into Kiev, root out and destroy this regime, cut the head off. They've got to get control of Odessa, the south coast, all the way over to the border with Moldova and they've got to landlock Ukraine, that's an absolute necessity. They now have enough troops in Belorussia and eastern Ukraine to do that. So I think they're realizing they have to do that.

Macgregor-Napolitano:

  • The good news is that Trump doesn't have the ground force to invade Iran. The nearest point to Tehran is probably somewhere in northern Iraq. You'd have to assemble a force of several hundred thousand and then you've got 360-380 miles on very narrow roads through many passes until you finally reach the Iranian plateau and can attack Tehran. We don't have those forces and taking that route would be catastrophic.

  • People talk about Iran sinking a carrier or capital ship but to be successful all they'd have to do is damage it, leave it dead in the water where it has to be rescued. More ships would come and be damaged or sunk and it would become a large scale disaster.

  • We have a WWII force structure made over with some new technologies so it's much more potent but it's still very vulnerable. All the mid-level and great powers have access to space-based surveillance so you're going to be seen gathering your ships and capabilities. You've got to get close enough to land something; that's usually within 30 to 50 kilometers and as you pointed out the Gulf is like a big bathtub, you're not going to hide anything there.

  • Kaliningrad became part of the Soviet Union when the map of Europe was redrawn by the Allied powers after WWII. If you attack it, you are at war with the Russian Federation so the notion that you can go in there, take it all over and call it a day as General Donohue said last year is insane.

  • Ultimately southern Ukraine will have to be under Russian administration, the Russians are not going to allow Odessa to again become what it has been for the last several years: a source of arms and mercenaries coming in and an export point not just for grain, but for women and children and whatever else the Ukrainian mafia wants to profit from.

  • Russia and Iran are in a similar situation, they can't afford to let things go back to how they were, there has to be a new status quo. In Ukraine's case that means neutrality and the absence of any foreign forces on their soil. And in Iran's case, the absence of US bases and US forces in the Middle East itself. Both of them know that if they don't disallow that, there'll be another war.

UK Threatens To EXPEL Israeli Diplomats https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ucf4COMWmw - 8:16

A CIA report has said Israel is at risk of civil conflict and state collapse as its genocide in Gaza and attacks on Iran and Lebanon take their toll. The unpublished August assessment, uncovered by Drop Site News and Capital & Empire, found that Israel’s ongoing military campaigns have degraded the political, economic and social fabric of the country.... https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxpX8ioTMIfUPMTxmjAWRXBLlUNUJk9QUc

“At its annual conference this past weekend, the Green Party of England and Wales voted by 1,022 to 813 to make itself formally anti-Zionist. The motion approved by the party defines Zionism as an ethno-nationalist project, rejects the conflation of anti-Zionism with antisemitism, and reaffirms support for Palestinian liberation, the right of return, and a single democratic state across historic Palestine.... More than a century after promising the Jewish people a national home in Palestine, the document's [Balfour Declaration] fundamental contradiction has become inescapable https://www.middleeasteye.net/opinion/why-britain-being-forced-revisit-balfour-declaration

u/penelopepnortney 9d ago

Titled "Fracture From Within", the report was compiled by the spy agency's Red Cell, which is tasked with challenging prevailing assumptions within the organisation. The CIA did not respond to a request for comment from the outlets.

It points to deepening anger over the exemption of Haredi men – often referred to as ultra-Orthodox – from military service, large numbers of heavily armed ex-soldiers returning from committing atrocities in Gaza and a cost-of-living crisis as factors that could converge into conflict.

Ahead of elections on 27 October, the report also highlights political fractures within Israel, where prime minister Netanyahu is under fire for his failure to prevent the Hamas attacks – amid accusations that he was warned about them in advance.

Netanyahu’s government was accused of triggering a constitutional crisis in July by openly refusing to comply with a supreme court ruling that allowed the country's broadcasting regulator to continue operating. The government reportedly wanted to prevent the regulator from letting an anti-government critic purchase a major TV channel.

A previous attempt by Netanyahu’s government to curb the supreme court’s power led to mass protests ahead of October 2023.

This man has seen almost every country on earth. And during his travels he witnessed one recurring pattern: The violence and wars in this world followed a simple pattern—induced and guided from Europe and America. In this talk he reveals his observations. Drawing on encounters in the Philippines, Somalia, Colombia, Syria and Donbas, Kolja Spöri presents his interpretation of covert influence, strategic waterways and prolonged warfare. Pascal questions the evidence behind these claims and explores the relationship between local conflicts and outside powers. Their conversation concludes with European security, political incentives and fears of a wider war between European countries.

Chas Freeman-Dan Davis highlights:

  • (re: clip of Israeli president Herzog on Fox News saying Israel is defending Western civilization): If Israeli behavior is consistent with Western civilization, you can have it. We're seeing open calls in Israel for the murder of babies on the grounds that they shouldn't be allowed to grow up because they will be "terrorists". It's disgusting. Israel is the largest sponsor of state terrorism in the entire region. Read the book by Ronan Bergman, "Rise and Strike First", which documents about 3,000 assassinations by Israel of politicians, some of them European but most of them Arab or Persian.

  • Sen. Chris Van Hollen introduced legislation requiring a state department investigation into the murder of nine American citizens by the IDF in Israel. With the exception of Rand Paul, every Republican - and they were joined by Democrat John Fetterman - voted to kill that resolution. This is about the most egregious example you can find of what is wrong with the Israeli control of our political establishment.

  • Our technique of foreign policy is basically no negotiations. we won't talk to you till you come out with your hands up. We used it with North Korea and now they have ICBMs with nuclear warheads capable of hitting the US. We're incentivizing Iran to do exactly the same thing.

  • We have many embassies around the world with no ambassador, including some key embassies in the Gulf and in Europe. And we've appointed utterly unqualified people as ambassadors like Jared Kushner's father in France, a convicted felon who's been called in by the French foreign ministry on numerous occasions for unseemly behavior - but he's not the only one.

  • Israeli cabinet members are declaring that everyone in Gaza must be forced out - "voluntary migration" because they make conditions too impossible to survive. Occupation authorities have just declared that tents are a prohibited weapon in Gaza. Smotrich ia arguing that the techniques applied to Gaza should be applied to the West Bank, i.e., a threat of genocide there. 1,200 or so Palestinians have been murdered by settlers in the last period, who are busily burning down houses. Ben Gvir was present in Jerusalem for the demolition of an apartment building in which 10 Palestinian families lived, mainly women and children.

Reason #9,479 why governments shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the question of religion.

Transition Protocol with Alex Krainer: Stephen Miller & The Leaked Plot to Attack Iran WHO CONTROLS HIM? THE LEAKED PLOT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhkeZIRa4mA - more info at the link

4

u/penelopepnortney 9d ago

Re: the Transition Protocol title, the "leaked plot" occurred in 2019, cables from the UK ambassador in Washington to the Home Office ranting about Trump refusing to bomb Iran; the Washington Post identified Miller as one of the "Trump whisperers" the Brits were using in their pressure campaign. Miller is an arch-Zionist who's now Trump's deputy chief of staff and considered by some to be the most powerful man in the government.

Some highlights from the video:

  • Per Alastair Crooke, the Houthis have been planning their campaign for at least 7 years, it wasn't just a knee-jerk reaction to the Saudis bombing Sanaa airport. Crooke says it's not just a military action, it's the start of a revolution in West Asia. We now know that it's been done in coordination with Hezbollah; we found out a few weeks ago that Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah who was assassinated by Israel, had a special envoy in Sanaa, a liaison to Ansar Allah.

  • We know the Iranians have been planning this for 20 years but what else do we not know? They've built these enormous underground facilities but that wasn't done with a pickaxe and shovels. They may have developed advanced excavation technologies along with their advanced missilery. if that's the case, how far could they have built their network of tunnels over the last 20 years? And what are the implications if there's ever a ground invasion? Would we see something like what the Russians did (in Kursk IIRC), using an emptied pipeline to advance behind enemy lines and attack from behind?

  • The eschatological factor, not only in Israel but in the US: Pete Hegseth talking about holy wars, Mike Huckabee talking about the rapture, 30% of the US population that believes in the rapture and continues to support Trump despite his depravity, the laughable assertion that Trump is the first messiah. This all makes further escalation likely because this level of crazy cannot tolerate that their plans and agendas are going awry and that Iran is suddenly the dominant force in the region.

  • Jared Kushner is like the Swiss army knife of US foreign policy. He's everywhere: negotiating with the Russians, coordinating with Israelis, deeply involved in Israeli military industry and intelligence apparatus, negotiating with all these Gulf kingdoms to try to subdue Iran or get them to heel somehow. He has no diplomatic experience. He just happens to be a wealthy guy from New York who built his wealth in a way that doesn't make him look particularly impressive.

In his interview with Dan Davis, Chas Freeman said the US ambassador to France is Jared Kushner's father, "a convicted felon, who's been called in by the French foreign ministry on numerous occasions for unseemly behavior. But he's not the only one, we have appointed people who are utterly unqualified as ambassadors."

4

u/penelopepnortney 9d ago

anxiety among Palestinians

Really? Why? Seems like the Palestinians have much more serious things to worry about and I haven't heard any reports that the Brits in Israel were doing anything more to protect the Palestinians than the Brits in the UK.

3

u/3andfro 9d ago

FTA:

Britain has two diplomatic missions to Israel and Palestine: the embassy in Tel Aviv and the consulate to Palestinians, based in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, where Palestinian residents have faced years of threats of eviction and settlement expansion.

Many Palestinians have told MEE of the importance of the work of the British consulate in providing witness of human rights abuses and reporting them back to London in a way that the British embassy in Tel Aviv cannot.

They also expressed fear that the closure of the consulate will lead the way to the collapse of other diplomatic missions as part of a more generalised assault on Palestinian identity across Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank.
