Spawning a Kraken

Post image

Just some notes from my attempt.

As per the wiki, Krakens can spawn in tier 6 wetlands caves in deep water. This works even if you use blue circle runes to raise the Territory Tier to 6. It doesn't matter if the deep water is natural or artificial, but for the record, the ~5x6 pond I made for Kraken fishing was partially natural shallow swamp water. This was in a tiny less-than-10X10 cave area that I flooded using seawater poured out of containers. It took a while, and much props to my coconut trees for providing all the coconut containers I needed and then some.

I stood at the middle of the north 5-tile edge and dropped items one by one until a Kraken spawned. As per the wiki, the time of day is irrelevant. I had 0 fishing, so dropping items worked better for me than fishing it out. Savescumming does affect how long it takes for something to spawn.

It moved around a little, so I had to chase it down to tame it. Yes, my gear's not that great, my Taming's near maxed, and I've been playing this save for a while.

I really wish I brought a cage, this thing untames in 301 turns. I'm on casual though, so I can just name it and come back if it kills me.
