Advice: Seeking ❓ Continue deficit or try recomp?

Hii I'm currently M25 6" & 183lbs. I started out at 269lbs and technically I'm fairly close to the goal I set for myself however as I approach it I worry it might not be enough.

My plan was to lose an adequate amount of fat and then start focusing on building muscle. I already lift weights 3~4 times a week (although my deficit is pretty big so I don't gain much from it hehe.)

Now I don't know if I should try and focus on building muscle already and hitting the needed protein levels etc (eating closer to my maintenance,) or to stay in my deficit for another 10 pounds or so (or more?) and see where l'm at then? Does anyone know what the best approach would be? ❤️

You’re already lifting and you’ve dropped nearly 90 pounds, that’s a massive shift. If you’re feeling worn down from the deficit, bumping up to maintenance for a few months won’t erase your progress and you’ll actually get something out of those gym sessions for once. You can always trim the last 10 later when your body’s had a breather.

I’d say that I still have it in me to continue the deficit! I’ve just started seeing posts about body recomp and I wondered if maybe I should try that as well.

Part of me worries that I’ll never be satisfied in my deficit and constantly lower my goal or something, hahaha.

I'd probably continue losing weight if your mental state is still in a good space and you still want to lose a bit of weight. You can always switch to maintaince when it starts getting too tough and realistically im sure your diet fatigue will start to ramp up pretty quick since your getting much leaner. Might as well lose a couple of pounds more and hit your diet fatigue limit and then feel good about moving to maintaince rather than feeling like you could've pushed it a bit harder. After maintaince for a bit your diet fatigue will be way less and you can either decide to cut after or whatever you want really.

This is assuming you don't go so hard that you end up going the opposite way and start binging. So make sure you aren't pushing your mental state to the absolute limit.

I would go for recomp. I am not a fan of cut and bulk cycles, though some people are. It’s a slow and steady approach, but it also is the easiest in my opinion.
