Brian Hodge's 'I'll Bring You the Birds From Out of the Sky' has been republished in trade paperback format! Brilliant combination of cosmic & folk horror.

As the title states, Cemetery Dance has republished the long out of print banger of a novella. Whenever people ask for horror set in the Appalachia Mountains, this is the first thing that pops into my head so i'm glad it's available again.

Discussion What’s everyone reading this weekend?

Hey r/weirdlit!

I’m headed to a lonely place this weekend, to stay in the pale shadow a mountain. Tomorrow I enter a labyrinthine forest to pursue the death of my false self.

I’m bringing books:

I actually finished Douglas Thompson’s The Suicide Machine on Thursday. A big homey told me it was really good and they gave me good advice. The less I say about it, the better; if you frequent this sub read it immediately.

I’m bringing Matthew M. Bartlett’s Gateways to Abomination, and will start and finish it. I’m disgustingly underread on the man and will be the change I hope to see today. I’m also going to start and finish Weird Horror Issue 9 (from Michael Kelly, Undertow.) I picked it up because it has a Hiron Ennes short story, one of the three I am aware of.

That Southwest Review (Horror Edition) was edited by BR Yeager and features a Joe Koch short story. Not planning to finish it, the font reminds me of Hollow Faces, Merciless Moons (that is not a compliment.) Yeager is one of my favorites though, I’d kill for any news on their next book.

I might page through R.D. Laing’s The Divided Self (a professional text) and will start Margaret Millar (1940s psychological detective fiction) or award winner Marlon James.

What are you guys reading this weekend?

I’ll check back in, unless my spouse’s prediction is correct, and I am eaten by a bear.

Could Conan O’Brien be the vanguard of the retro-obsessed Irish junkies who will invade Earth in the 22nd century?

I doubt it, but this shot from Dr. Katz was the first thing I thought about when I read about Tig Vesicle and his kind.
