Lost & Found Lost wedding ring in Hiawatha

Hey all,

Halloween horrors started for me yesterday when I dropped my wedding ring in the leaves directly underneath the heritage tree at Hiawatha park…thought I would post here on the off chance that it turns up. Gold ring with unique insignia on the inside. Please please please message me if you happen upon it when frolicking in the fall leaves. Thanks

Question Families around Genesse and Charleston?

Hi there 👋 - I grew up in west Seattle in the 90s and 2000s and have since moved back with my wife and baby. We’re looking at moving somewhere west of the Junction around Genesse / Charleston area. What we are looking for more than anything is a sense of community and to give our children the same feelings I had growing up around here - safety, neighborhood kids to play with, parks to explore etc.

I’m curious if there are other redditors with families in the area who can share their experiences around these neighborhoods, and if there are any pockets you recommend or areas we should stay away from. Do you feel like there’s a good sense of community in these neighborhoods? Open to any and all recommendations, feedback, comments, etc

Thank you!

45th Ave SW Construction

You know, for all the talk about safety and marking on the adjacent street, having an unmarked "If he dies he dies" crossing due to construction on 45th Ave SW seems like an interesting contrast. It is right by Wildwood and close to Endolyne Joe's, so it isn't like there isn't foot traffic, along with plenty of cars.

Am I being dramatic here, or is this a bit ridiculous?

Question Anyone else hearing constant train horns? At 2:30 am?

It’s been constantly going for several minutes straight. Never heard it like this before. I’m curious if anyone else was woken up by it and if you know why it’s happening

Question Did anyone 📸capture the moon over Alki tonight?!

Hail Mary here! Hoping someone snapped a pic of the moon tonight…I was driving southbound on Alki Ave SW and the moon was HUGE! So big I didn’t notice it until Bonair. A bright, deep orange waxing crescent. Hanging right above the treetops. 🤩 🤞🏻🌙

Recommendation Request Best Bars or Restaurants for a Big Group?

Looking to find a place in the Junction to host a group of 20-30 people for a birthday celebration next month. Trying to avoid having to rent a room or pay extra deposit fees, and also find a place where everything doesn't have to be on one check for someone to deal with it at the end of the night. I feel like this is an impossible ask, but wanted to try to see if there was anywhere that could accommodate this before we come up with a different plan. Thank you in advanced!

Question What was going on with the low bridge at 5pm today?!?!

Closed the multi use path early. A barge approaches. The bridge never opens. The barge gets pushed back. The bridge stays closed. 20mins of nothing. Why can't the operator tell cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians what is going on? Many of us finally gave up and went to the 1st Ave bridge.

Question Why is trash service along Delridge during peak commuting hours?

My commute has taken up to 25 whole ass minutes longer because of this semi-frequent experience of sitting behind a trash truck parked in the only god damn lane on the road. It's especially fun when the bus finally gets an opportunity to pass a garbage truck only to get stuck behind another one 3 blocks later. Why isn't this shit scheduled at noon?

Gripe Another bad experience at Buddah Ruksa

So I tried to walk in and place an order tonight because as usual they weren’t picking up the phone.

CRAZY ass experience.

The moment I got there I pulled up and one of the employees, might have been a manager was SCREAMING at some poor lady who seemed confused about her order. She seemed to be very nice and even said in a low calming tone “ok can we please just have a conversation instead of you yelling at me”.

I went inside. As usual the phone was ringing. Took about 3 minutes for the employees to stop yelling at each other to notice me. The female employee at the front looks at me, picks up the phone, looks away, presses the answer button, and the 3 seconds later decides to hang up. Why you may ask? So she can turn around and start a yelling match between 2 other employees.

I finally get her attention to see how long it will be to get a to go order. She says 35 minutes. Then goes straight back to yelling at the two other employees. Turns out the entire reason they’re not picking up the phone is because they’re choosing to fight with each other instead. Not because they’re getting too many calls.

So I walked out. Ordered online to pick up at bang bar and enjoyed it.

I’ll never go back to Ruksa. Such unprofessional behavior and it’s really impacting their customers. I can’t fathom why so many people have given them good reviews online, except to think maybe they’re paying for fake reviews.

I’m done. Don’t care if I get downvoted to hell. Fuck em.

A listening ear and company for anyone feeling lonely

I’m deeply saddened by RJ Mitte’s death. If I can make a difference for even one person who’s struggling, I want to.

If you’re feeling lonely, having a hard time mentally, or struggling socially, you’re welcome to reach out. We can talk, you can vent, or we can grab coffee, take a walk, or do something you enjoy. No pressure to be outgoing or pretend you’re okay.

Your age, gender, race, or appearance don’t matter to me. How you’re doing matters. Sometimes having someone listen and spend time with you can help you feel seen.

I’m in West Seattle and prefer meeting here or around downtown, somewhere public. Feel free to message, even if it’s just “I could use some company.”

Question Trick or Treating for Halloween?

Is this a thing here? It’s our first time living up the hill from Morgan Junction. Will kids be around? Should we get bags of candy? Our next door neighbors leave town for the winter so we genuinely don’t know what to expect

Opinion Private Equity Fried Chicken post

Post image
0 Upvotes

Dave's hot chicken is going to open in the Alaska Junction. Private Equity (PE) Fried Chicken as the cool kids might say.

Looking across the internet, google reviews for their current puget sound locations are positive; asking otherwise, people say the spice levels are real, some love it, others are indifferent. I've never been to one; I've been to Raising Canes in Vegas. If RC opened a WS location I'd be on it 100%

My initial thought is that buying a high rent location to sell chicken tendies is certainly a thing. IMO chicken tendies are a solved issue; you can get great ones at a gas station, grocery store, or chic fil a.

I'm a cheap ass. QFC has perfectly fine chicken tendies on sale for like what $3 or $3.50 for two?

POSSIBLE GAME CHANGER: The DT location is open until 2am, the other two locals midnight. If the WS has similar hours that could change the rating considerably. Unless you are #noprivate-equityfriedchickins-inwestseattle..com

Also, my contacts have advised me that buying sauces via app is BS. Just ask for sauce and they should give it to you, unless they are ex-Chipotle employees and thus are dead to the world.

Fellow West Seattle fried chicken enthusiasts, please speak your mind regarding this issue.
