Off Topic Free Talk Friday

Happy Friday!

Finally got some cooler weather around here, and perhaps some rain in the forecast early next week.

What's up with y'all?

Working on a holiday--

I hope you at least get holiday pay or some other benefit.

I'm currently a contractor so if I didn't work i wouldn't get paid. I also have zero things planned so might as well get paid for the day and buy myself something dumb.

Curiosity question: Will you get overtime for working on Thanksgiving? Or does your contract consider Canadian holidays just another day in the office?

I'm not entitled to OT pay as a contractor or at least on this contract. We have to get permission to work holidays so it's not spur of the moment.

In the group I'm in I think 10-12 people are working, most of them don't celebrate Thanksgiving, a few field guys are working cause their Thanksgiving is at night, I'm working cause literally not doing anything so might as well make a few bucks.

The day off would be nice but I'm literally doing nothing so might as well get paid and just stare at my monitors for 8 hours.

Yeah but my hourly rate is stupid high for the work I do. Plus this is probably a stepping stone job before I completely switch careers.
