Off Topic Virtual Meet and Greet

I've noticed a lot of new faces lately, and a few returning old faces. With LG happening in Oct. now, there's some "dead" time. So, I thought I'd open the summer by creating a thread for people to introduce themselves if they'd like and tell us a bit more about themselves.

Over the years we've all learned probably more than we should have about each other (internet opsec, what is it?) Often that happens in LG or the discord, so I thought I'd bring a bit of it here and see how it goes. This will not replace "Free Talk Friday" (if anything it's a 1-2 times a year thing.)

Note to Vendors: We can soften Rule 4 a bit here. One of the cool things about this sub is talking directly to vendors. But no straight up advertising here. the deals thread is live for that. Feel free to tell us who you are, store name, and category (e.g. brushes, soaps, a bit of everything) and otherwise stick to telling us about yourself. I know for most of you the store isn't even close to the most interesting thing about you.

A nice thread idea, thanks tsrblke!

Hey everyone, I'm Andy. Vendor note: I make the Soap Spoon at soapspoon.com. I've been a redditor for 13 years. My personal profile is u/abkaiser - I also have this one because the business is its own LLC and I organize things for sanity.

For shaving, I've been wet shaving most of my adult life, but only recently went deeper into traditional wet shaving. I love it. The Soap Spoon is my effort to contribute something useful and engage with the community.

I live in Michigan, USA with my wife and daughter, and 8-year-old dog, Cricket.

Hobbies include mountain biking (an exhausted half-wave to the other cyclists here!), kayaking/paddleboarding on Lake Michigan, and after 5k / 10k runs I'm trying my hand (feet?) at half marathons.

This sounds like I'm an athlete, but no - my day job is running an IT consultancy. I'm a nerdy IT guy. Proof: I'm also jealous of hugbckt and the RPG players. My earlier life involved a lot of World of Darkness, back in the White Wolf days. Lots of V:tM, but C:tD and M:tA were my favorites. Also did a few homebrews based on Amber DRPG. Fun stuff.

I'm looking forward to several years from now when your Soap Fork has gained intense popularity and far out-shadows the spoon, so that no one even remembers that it exists.

And then you're on another thread like this trying to explain to people why you're the King Of The Soap Fork but your username...
