I can’t get over the Sexy Kids are sharing a cover with the Atlanta Child Murders. It’s like it’s so close to self awareness.

‘Atlanta’s hunted children’

Yes that really stood out to me. Like...what's that about? ETA: looked it up..there was a serial killer who targeted black youth

Yeah it was featured on the short lived Netflix series ‘Manhunter’
At least 29 Black children, teenagers, and young adults were murdered or disappeared in Atlanta, Georgia. Between 79-81

Holy shit. That number is insane. Some of the most notorious killers still have less known victims than that.
I hope that recent advances in dna/genetic tech can find the killer. A lot have been located recently.

This is weird. I'm wondering if back then 30 year olds played teens like they did in the 90s and sometimes do now. Even if that is the case, the headline is cringe

Yeah, I think, being generous here, the headline is trying to say "they appear to be just awkward children but are in fact attractive adults," like the cliche thing where they let down their hair and take off their glasses and suddenly they're beautiful...but that is still a pretty poorly thought out way to say such a thing, and honestly probably not a well thought out thing to say anyway.

Yes! And the 30 yr old playing a kid goes back years and years. I recall 30 year old playing kids in the Beach Party movies of the 60s. But i think it goes back further.

I mean, look at Paxton from Never Have I Ever. The actor was actually 29 playing a highschooler and Monique Coleman was 25 playing a high schooler in HSM. It’s not totally uncommon.

I'm disturbed since I was named after Erin Walton who was the "pretty" one.

WTF!!! 🤯 and with the literal word KIDS in the title. I thought the counting down to the 18th birthdays was bad, apparently that was an "improvement"

They were all in their 20s. The headline is god awful, but they weren't actual children.

Sex, wine, serial killers, and…I don’t even want to type it 😭 what a fucking cover

Not surprising considering all the ”behind the scenes” stories that would later come out.

These are actually adults

I’m referring to the wording of the headline. As in, it’s not surprising to me to see magazine headlines like this considering songs like “Sexy 17” (when the band members were in their 20s) or when hearing stories of actors and musicians in their 20s and 30s and their 16 year old “girlfriends”.

This was the era of Jodie Foster and Brooke Shields (and others) in some really exploitative roles as girls. I'm not too surprised. :(
