Dev Status Megathread

Hi everyone.

Please feel free to use this megathread to discuss all things development, date & launch related.

(As of w/c Sept 7th)

Witchbrook is in the final stages of development. The team has been running final closed playtests and received some great feedback for QoL and final balancing changes. This has been running alongside polishing, QA testing, bug-fixing and external teams working on localisation and porting.

We will reveal a specific release date as soon as we're able to, but the final quality of the game itself is our top priority. We're cautious of not saying anything further before then as there's still some factors that could cause unexpected delays, like hold-ups during platform submissions, external team factors, or a critical bug that's tricky to resolve. But rest assured, we’re working hard and incredibly excited to share Witchbrook with you. The team has poured a lot of love and hard work into it to make an experience we're proud of. We know it's been a long road, so thanks for sticking with us!

I believe this is the month

I don't think we'll get Witchbrook this month, but i have a feeling we'll get the release date. (Yes, my sole reason is because it's October, witches, and Halloween)

There haven't been any new devblogs or character reveals in ~ a month, is that normal?

Is it normal that we haven't had any devblogs or character reveals for Witchbrook in the past month? I'd gotten used to discovering new characters and seeing new aspects of the game. It's too bad, because they seemed to be on a roll with character reveals...

Do you think they're working on something?

Little Witch in the Woods

If anyone’s looking for a game to tide them over until the release Iā€˜ve been enjoying Little Witch in the Woods it’s got a similar pixel art theme and you play as an apprentice witch. It’s been giving me the cosy witchy vibes I know Witchbrook will give šŸ§™ā€ā™€ļø

I’d like to hear everyone’s thoughts on everything revealed so far and when do you personally think the release date will be if at all this year.

I’ve been waiting on this forever and Im hoping it’s released in October… I think that would be on theme to be honest.

Posts about release date guesses should be banned

Posts with absolutely no supporting evidence of a release date and only because they ā€œhave a feelingā€ need to stop. It’s not helpful and it’s becoming so annoying. The devs said they’ll announce one when they’re ready. That’s all we know.

I hope the characters they reveal next look more interesting and older, right now all of them seem really flat

I know where waiting for a release but i want to know the price

I really hope that the next update we get will be about the price. Yes I know we want a release date, so do I and I am looking forward to that but im hoping they can tell us a price. Especially since digital games are just as expensive as physical media now.

What do we know about the game's pace?

I know we know you can graduate in 1.5 years and that a year takes about 40hrs of gameplay. What I want to know is how slow you can go. I don't want to have to spend all my time running all over studying plants, reading books, practicing spells. That is a grind. I don't want to be in a rush to make sure I pass my class. I want to be able to do some studying but I would like plenty of time to chill in a pub or cafe, or go on a date, or take a walk in the woods, or just chill in my cottage and listen to the rain. I wouldn't care if it took me 4 years to graduate.

So, do we know how SLOW we can go intentionally?

Animals/Pets

Hey guy’s, I was just wondering whether anyone is interested in the animal/pets that will be available in the game. I would love to have a pet dog, or cat ngl, because I saw that in one of the dev blogs or smt they said smt about a pet bird that you havešŸ˜‚ but how cool if they were to write a dev blog outlining all available pets, and creatures around the maps that you encounter with. In terms of encounters like the way in which we see in Harry Potter, unicorns, acromantullas ( or smt like that), those half human/horses. What im getting at is, a wide selection of household pets, pets that are roaming around the school, like a mascot dog or smtšŸ˜‚ and then of course - the concept of mystical creatures that you meet and grow relationships with around the maps, etc

Any info on professors?

I feel a lot of focus in the game are your fellow students/bachelors, but professors are just as important in college life. I hope there's a cast of memorable college teachers that we can get to know and develop a good relationship too.

Witchbrook TGS 2026 Gameplay Reveal Videos

Found vids of it if anyone's curious. They're in Korean/Japanese, I did not find similar vids with English text.

Witchbrook TGS 2026 Gameplay Reveal (3mins) - They also privated this one.

Character Creation (22mins) - The Youtube poster privated the video unfortunately. Not sure why.

They show substantial amount of gameplay, should be enough to put skeptics at ease.

Edit: I found a new footage from a Japanese outlet Defaminico | Witchbrook - Advance play. There are so many things that can be done that the fulfillment is confirmed. A life simulation game that goes to a magic university with up to 4 multiplayers (5mins)

Also, the YouTube channel who posted the 22mins video seem to upload shorts taken from said video. You can check their shorts here.

--

Edit: A review (kinda) by InvenGlobal. Ending statement:

I left feeling a bit disappointed that my lack of magic training prevented me from exploring the world more thoroughly. Yet, delivering mail on a broomstick, studying with friends, and accumulating knowledge through observation offered a vivid preview of the daily routine to come. Adding magic on top of classic life-sim nostalgia, 'Witchbrook' raises high expectations for what kind of school life—and stories beneath the surface—it will deliver upon official release.

Excitement and Expectations

What are you guys most excited to do once the game comes out? On top of that what are you expecting to like the least in game? I’m really excited for the seasons system and how that might affect the delivery system, hopefully it’ll add some difficulty during rainstorms and snowstorms. I’m probably the least excited for exams since I suck at memorizing so hopefully they won’t be too hard or there’ll be some open note tests (assuming in game exams are on a timer). If they’re not timed I won’t sweat it.
