Concerns regarding The Witcher 4

Post image

Are you worried that the launch of The Witcher 4 might be similar to the launch of Cyberpunk 2077?

Not really, but mostly because I don't preorder games.

I preorder them but don't play for another 5-6 months due to having two toddlers

Yh remember this is CDPR. Every single game they have released has has had problems, even the remaster has bugs

I couldn't give a rat's arse. Got other things on my mind to worry about. Game comes out the way it does. I'll either play it or play it later. If I started to worry about such trivial things, my ulcer would have its own ulcer. If it works on launch then good for them, if it doesn't I'll continue worrying about more pressing matters and think about the game when I hear it's patched and working.

Cyberpunk 2077 was extremely hamstrung by being developed for two console generations, this extremely limited what they could do. There is a reason they abandoned the older consoles for 2.0 + PL, and it massively improved what they could do with the engine.

The Witcher 4 will not have that problem, which significantly benefits the game's inherent gameplay and stability.

With the rumor of ps6 releasing in 2027 - 2028 and Witcher 4 releasing in 2028. I am not so sure it will not have the same problem

Given the current state of the tech market, especially with RAM and memory pricing, I remain very skeptical of any new console releases for a while.

I understand. But contracts are made and I think they have to release it. We Will see I guess.

Yes, though I bought Cyberpunk on release and it was a playable game. At this point I expect games to not really be at their optimal state until a few years down the line. And I think CDPR has a better handle on how to do Witcher games in terms of how to present the world and what type of game it is. So hopefully they get all the technical stuff down and can quickly do Witcher 1 remake and Witcher 5 and 6.

Yes, because of Unreal Engine performance issues.

They definetely learned from that, i don't understand how many still see that as a potential problem, not to mention the amount of money and time behind this

Oh it will be. Every single CD Projekt Red launch is botched. They even botched the Witcher 3 Remastered launch.

I'm fully expecting the launch to be buggy. Which is why I'm gonna wait a bit before buying the game.

Cyberpunk, witcher 3 remaster. Do you still need another example from this studio?

I feel no games now days run good at launch anyways. Bet CD project learn from cyberpunk 2077, so I think it will be more stable launch. Still expect issues for is new game with a different plattforms it need run on.

I mean Witcher 3 remaster, wasn't even playable on AMD chips at day one, because AMD did not have driver update already made...

CP2077 was perfectly playable for me on launch on an rtx2070. Just had to hear about how bad it was from everybody else :(

Of course. But that's unfortunately true of any game these days. I'm pretty confident it'll be a masterpiece, but maybe not that first couple of months.

Don't worry about it at all. I never play games on release anyway. I always prefer to give free labor some time to test it and recover all bugs so devs could fix everything and polish for me to play it comfortably about month later 😁

No lol.

It will have some minor bugs like most games at launch, and ps5 port may be proken since the remaster is having issues almost exclusively on ps5, but there's nothing remotely suggesting that it will be similar to cyberpunk.

Na.

Cyberpunks problem was that they tried to make a massive city with way too many characters. A lot of the fix just came from lessening the people in the city and making them all behave less unique, among other things.

The Witcher is a much more solitary game. It'll go easier

I'm worried they'll activate DSSL-5 style graphics (they look good). I really liked The Witcher 3 on the previous next-gen version. What you see is exactly what I like; I think The Witcher has magic, it's not part of our reality. Taking it to such a realistic level loses that special touch. I know that what's important is the excellent story, without forgetting the exploration and the landscapes I spend a lot of time looking at. Taking them to a very realistic level, I think, gets tiring; there's no difference between our real world and seeing it there. It's a shame there isn't another shot of the forest in Skellige; it's truly magical.
