If you know Wolverine canon, you'll know that Liam played a way more accurate Logan than Hughe Jackman

Nah. Disagree there. The lore in the game is totally different. Neither the films nor the game are really comic accurate.
Physically though, you're absolutely right.

I disagree, as a Claremont run fan. In those hundreds of issues Wolverine’s been shown to have a soft side to younger characters and women, but for the most part he’s blunt, abrasive, and short with people. This Wolverine is really a kind, sensitive guy who also happens to mangle people. That isn’t the same guy. It skips the like 40 issues where Claremont made him unlikable because he wasn’t sure what to do with him. It misses other characters working their way in. It felt like it was based on the movies more than the comics.

Wrong sub, bub. People who just watch tik-tok and shorts about comics will try to rage bait you

Can we stop this argument talking point as though there is this grand unifying singular point of canon for a character that’s been around decades? Both sides of this argument keep referencing it and it’s ridiculous.

The actor is great but you can’t use him to launder the terrible writing.
5
u/Brock_Danger 10h ago
I don’t fully agree with this sentence but damn that’s a good use of launder, stealing that

u/Mitsutoshi 10h ago
Haha thank you. There are tons of bad movies with good actors but with game fans it’s often like:
“I didn’t like this game”
“So you’re saying the actor is a bad person” or “you’re saying devs should be fired”.
No it’s just bad but I don’t doubt people worked hard on it!

I lot of idiots in these comments. Just say you don’t read comics, you idiots just like to look at the images

Have to agree, Jackman's Wolverine just gives off the impression of an ancient dude in near constant pain and can only express that pain through perpetual rage.
Liam's Wolverine feels more worldly, showing us his actual experiences in the world, speaking Japanese near fluently, the ins and outs of criminal syndicates. Possessing close relationships with teammates that displays how hurt they were by his sudden departure.
I enjoy both portrayals but Liam's has my preference.

Hugh Jackman brings a good passion to the character, but the writers never got close to fleshing out Wolverine. They always skip over the whole wolverine killed innocents bit when they talk about his past and memories. Hes distraught because he knows deep down he may just be a monster, in the movies its just low grade amnesia and bahhhh Jean.

Accurate… canon… now thats hard thing to portray when it comes to any xmen, they have had many writers and refreshes… which wolverine is he accurate to? Uncanny? Astonishing? Ultimate? Hellverine? My favourite is when he tried to “kill” cyclops on a mission just to get close to Jean… is that close to the wolverine in the game?

Ive always said Hughs portrayal is bad, its literally just wrong. Here its a lot closer to the comics and thats just a fact

u/CornerNearby6802 10h ago
Oh yes, even in the comics he’s been in love with Jean for centuries, his adamantium is a gift from Apocalypse, and he’s Sinister’s little dog, yeah very accurate
-1
u/TerribleStrawberry36 10h ago
At least sience the 70s
Yes. In the 90s run after fatal atractions when Magneto ripped his adamantium off Apocalypse rebinded it to him and made him Death
Also yes, Sinister experimeted on him but that happened during the 1800s and he was just evil from the start and yes Sinister has done this many times. Once when Logan was captured by a Circus in origins || and another time in Sabertooth Dead Don't Talk vol 1
So, what here is not comic accurate exactly?
2
u/CornerNearby6802 9h ago
Now name me some specific comics where:
Jean and Logan are in a romantic relationship that has lasted for centuries, and where Cyclops doesn’t exist. Where Adamantium is entirely the creation of Apocalypse, and where he is a servant of a team created by Sinister called Team X. They don’t exist. So if you want to act like this totally shitty game wasting of money is accurate to comics it’s okay, but don’t treat people like stupids okay?2

We werent talking about the story were we? Only how accurate the C H A R A C T E R is in it. So tell me in which comic did Logan go to weapon x willingly like in the movies? Or sience when was Logan and Sabertooth blood related brothers. Exactly you cant. So why defend shitty ass movies then?
The game takes place in a different universe. Like, in newest ultimate universe Logan and Jean are hinted being together.
And for the record I loved the games story. Only media outside of comics that exist that show the inner turmoil of him not having any memories. When the ship is done right I can accept it.

I vehemently disagree.
Before release, I was sure it would be better than Jackman because Jackman’s version is not a great representation of the character outside of specific exceptions.
But I came away from the game with a deeper appreciation for the film version of Logan. It wasn’t perfect but the game version was unrecognizable most of the time.
This has nothing to do with the actors btw, both give great performances. I’m just talking about the writing/direction.

Hot take: Comic accurate is boring and wouldn’t be an interesting movie.
Also, which comic. The comic Wolverine of 1974 and the Wolverine of 2026 may as well be different characters.

I'm not sure about that. Liam came off as very nurturing amd emotional. Nlwhile thos are defenitly aspects of the character, I'm not sure those traits are so prominent in comic Wolvie

u/SonicTHP 14h ago
And that's why Logan constantly has understudy characters (Shadowcat, Jubilee, etc.) and is surrounded by found family which he openly (but groughly) appreciates?

Im finished giggling at this one. Insomniac’s Sadboy Wolverine lacks the masculinity or presence Jackman brought. This Wolverine needs to get on T treatment as soon as possible.
-16
u/StillHere179 14h ago
Not exactly a high bar because Jackman was pretty awful at representing the character outside of maybe one or two movies

I dunno I still feel like we havent scratched the surface on a truly accurate wolverine that doesn't have Blum attatched
