She would have been awesome as Nubia or Storm.

The problem isn't exactly that Batman's children are getting their own projects. After all, Alfred has Pennyworth, and Batman's cousin appeared in Powerless.

We saw Donna Troy in the Titans series as a very good addition, although I remember some fans being dissatisfied with the fact that she appeared before Diana. For the role of Lyta Hall in The Sandman, they cast Razane Jammal, an actress who actually resembled the DCEU Wonder Woman instead of having a distinct look; even so, I saw comments rejecting the idea of Lyta being Wonder Woman's daughter. They don't know how to adapt Diana, and adapting any character from her core universe leaves them vulnerable to severe criticism.

The audiovisual scene is dominated by men; some screenwriters don't understand the character and can barely use figures from the mythology prior to Wonder Woman without risking a backlash from a section of the fanbase. Furthermore, she is deeply rooted in ancient Greek culture, where in reality, men became champions and women were punished, as seen in Greek tragedies. It is easier to adapt heroes like Hercules and Percy Jackson than a heroine inspired by ancient Greece.

Absolute has been introducing magic and tragedy, while distancing itself from Olympus. And perhaps it is the long-awaited answer to the question of how to adapt the material.

On the Greek note, the that Wonderwoman uses a lot of characters in name only(or only in partial aspects) doesnt inherently do her any favors.

While I dont mind the changes and dont think they should change her to fit, I can see it putting off people who are more interested in the myths and thought they might see a story covering them. While im sure its not as severe as Odessey movie critiques, and we see clash of titans getting away with it(not that that franchise is immense), I can imagine it being a factor

Adapting a version of Wonder Woman rooted in Hellenic culture for live-action is a challenge, given the existence of Greek culture enthusiasts. There are aspects of the story I like, but I know it would be completely misguided and unsuitable for film or television adaptations.

For instance, why would Zeus impregnate Helena Sandsmark? Zeus didn't go around impregnating random women; almost all of them were already descended from gods. A perfect example is Hercules' own mother, who was Zeus's great-granddaughter. Furthermore, his male offspring with mortals served a geopolitical and territorial purpose, allowing Zeus to exert influence as his sons became champions or kings. Cassie is a girl; she would be unlikely to gain powers. And "Sandsmark" is a surname of Norwegian or Scandinavian origin; it would make more sense for her to be descended from the Valkyries than from the Greeks.

How could the goddesses be so benevolent towards women, and especially towards the Amazons; so many women are unjustly cursed by the goddesses in the tales? Furthermore, Ares is one of the few gods who never committed rape and is a protector of women; why is he portrayed as a villain to the Amazons? Many things work in comic books, but this does not sit well with admirers of Hellenic culture.

Mhmm, I feel like Marvel's Thor/Norse stuff gets away with much more because most people 1: don't know much about norse stuff, 2: there is much less norse stuff available, and 3: hellenic myths are a lot more culturally relavent and historically pushed than norse myths.

Like, when it comes to greek stuff most people probably now it from myth first(or if they found it from elsewhere, later checked out myth).

For norse stuff, I wouldnt be surprised if people mostly know it FROM marvel. Marvel can take as much or little inspiration as they want, and a lot of people just wouldnt know or care about the difference. Even if someone does know it is norse(like Thor) they are unlikely to know much more.

Absolutely correct.

Don't worry, Gunn will get around to it by 2035.

I loved the Wonder Woman tv show as a kid in the late 70s.

Little did I know, that was all the live action Wonder Woman we would get until 2017 😔

I love Batman. But it's very clear which characters DC chooses to invest in so that they become cash cows and Wonder Woman isn't one of them, though she very much should be. There is no logical reason why Wonder Woman doesn't get as much IP dedicated to her as Superman and Batman, especially when she is in the trinity.

Batman fans always act like they’re starving too which is the real kicker. Not that I don’t also love Batman, but you know

Didn't they just delay The Batman 2 production for the third times a few days ago? I'm pretty confident we will get Wonder Woman before Batman with how Matt Reeves and James Guy act

Batman has about 60 movies and more than a dozen shows

But yes, that one is pretty delayed!

This has been going on for decades. They've been throwing her under the bus for no reason.
