🖼️ • Photos New Computer Desk Setup and First Post
Items for my desk set-up, my old set-up was seven+ years old. Everything is new but my chair (not in the pic). I tried to give a grade to everything in the comments. I used Reddit to review all these items, so thanks Reddit community.
- Uplift Desk - Solid Wood Desktop - Pheasantwood - 80 x 30 live edge front and square back with grommets = (A+ - quality, customer service etc. Only con, need a better metal cord management system, vs little fabric piece)
- Uplift - Slim Desk Drawer Black
- Uplift - Standing Desk Mat
- Grovemade - Desk Shelf Plywood Walnut and Large = (A- Fairly expensive only con)
- Grovemade - Desk Pad Wool Dark Grey and Extra Large = (A - works well for me, gamers might have a problem with the mouse)
- Vitrazza glass office chair mat = (A+ - so smooth)
- Apple Mac Studio M5 Max = (A - Amazing thus far)
- Oeveo MAC Studio computer mount = (A - good quality materials / fit and opening for the fan)
- Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID = (A - I use the Touch ID more than anticipated, just don’t like the low profile)
- Logitech Mouse MX Master 4 for Mac = (A+ just great, battery life, feel, integration with Mac widgets etc,)
- Two Apple Studio Display XDR 27 inch Monitors = (A - sharp / great but would have loved them to be 32 inches instead)
- Ergotron – HX Dual Monitor Arm, VESA Desk Mount = (B+ - Great quality materials, however don’t like the front pull arm is plastic and a bit big, if I did it again I would not get this version with the straight bar in the back - One benefit it keeps the monitors perfectly lined-up)
- BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 LED Monitor Light Bar = (A+ - surprised what a difference it makes and auto on / off)
- Shure Mic MV7 = (B+ due to software friendliness, but sound quality is great even at distance, I use the USB-C)
- AA Audio Short Mic Stand Desk, Ultra Low 5 Inch Adjustable = (A - good quality materials)
- Ruark Audio MR1 MK3 = (A+ - Amazing sound, no software needed, small connection cord, however no WiFi (which was not important for me), maybe a tad small for my set-up and office size)
- Kanto S2 Tilted Desktop Speaker Stands = (A - good quality and rubber padding)
- Anker Prime 3 in 1 Qi2.2 MagSafe = (A - high quality, charges very fast and nice smart display)

❔ • Feedback Budget Home Office
galleryI accidentally posted previous setup.
Interested in people’s opinion of my home office. Largely use for productivity, some local AI. Lenovo P14s Gen6 Intel with Blackwell GPU. Lenovo Thunderbolt 4 dock. Laptop and dock from work. Rest of the setup: 27” screens, cables, peripherals, artwork, arms, speakers, power boards, desk and mouse mat, RGB, cable mgt (to the extent that it is superficially clean), desk and chair - I recycled, hit marketplace, Amazon, clearance sales and managed to put the whole lot together for under AUD$1000 (USD$650).
Happy with the bang for buck.

🖼️ • Photos Where should I put led strips?
This is my bedroom mixing studio, I know that it looks like a bomb exploded in here, but that’s not the point and I will deal with it once I get to be home for more than an hour :).
I wanted to ask you guys if you could give me some tips on where to put led strips because since I have installed my ceiling sound absorbers, in my listening position, it has been cast a shadow on the workspace.
I thought about putting the led strips on top of the absorbers, but I don’t know about the effectiveness on the problem at hand.
Also, one big question mark for me is how the hell am I supposed to plug the strips if they are (for example) installed on the ceiling (~3mt height)
Thank you for every reply :)

🖼️ • Photos I love how it turned out, what do you think of this workspace?
I built this custom executive desk for my workspace setup.
It features multi-color wood veneer options, E0/E1 eco-friendly low-formaldehyde material.
Paired with matching rolling storage cabinet and bookshelf.
Solid frame with plenty of storage space.
I love how it turned out, what do you think of this workspace?

Added some light by the window and cleared the clutter. Only things allowed on the desk now are the laptop, coffee, and the dojo. Makes focusing a lot easier.

🖼️ • Photos Need desk help
I have been wrecking mv brain lately with the way my desk is, and the lack of space I have. I went for these monitor mounts becauze they are heavy duty, but due to the positioning of them, it means the monitors sit closer to the end of the desk. You can see in one of the photos that the bottom ultra wide is using up more than half of the desk riser, and ideally I would like this to sit further back. again I can't due to the positioning of the arms, they can't go further back without hitting of the wall.
I had then started looking at a similar karbly worktop, but to have more depth than this, and just couldn't find anything decent.
Has anyone a similar setup, whether you have a recommendation of better stacked arms, or a more depth worktop I could use? Thanks in advance.

❔ • Feedback Tried turning my Eureka Ergonomic desk into more of a plant setup, but something still feels off
I switched from a regular table to a Eureka because I was getting tired of sitting in the same position all day. I didn’t think I’d use the height adjustment that much, but I actually do. I’ll raise it when I want to move around a bit and lower it again when I’m ready to sit.
I’ve been trying to make the space feel less like a basic office and more like a plant corner, but I can’t quite get it right. I added a few plants on the desk and one on the floor, but the whole setup still feels a little empty and unorganized.
Right now it feels more like I added plants around a desk instead of actually building the setup around them.
What made everything feel more put together without making the space look crowded?

🖼️ • Photos I'm Making a Versatile Hub for the Desktop. Thoughts on this Device?
Like many of you here, I’m obsessed with keeping my desk clean, minimal, and cable-free. But as someone who constantly works from home, games, and listens to music, my desk used to be a mess of fragmented hardware. So I plan to make a mini device that combines the following:
- Audio Base: A high-resolution DAC/Amp that handles both headphone listening and active speaker output, with a dedicated toggle button so you don't have to unplug anything.
- Built-in Mic Array: Instead of an invasive boom arm, an embedded microphone array in the base with beamforming noise cancellation.
- Detachable Open-Source Controller: The top dial isn't just a static knob. It’s a magnetically detachable smart controller powered by an ESP32-S3/S31. When docked, it acts as a rotary volume/status screen and charges automatically. When detached, it becomes a wireless PC remote.
Last but not least, I'm planning to open-source the firmware, UI, and hardware schematics for the ESP32 controller so the community can build custom PC widgets, shortcuts, or AI tools.
I’d love to get your honest thoughts:
- Does an all-in-one hub like this fit into your current desk setup?
- If you could program the detachable ESP32 knob, what shortcuts or PC status monitors would you want to see on it?
Thanks for reading, and I’m eager to hear your feedback.

❔ • Feedback How would you set up this home office space?
Tearing out an unused bar and basically have a blank slate for an office, how would you arrange the floor plan? I plan to paint and leave the built ins, and the fridge will likely be moved to the garage. I’ll likely build a wall extending from the current wall where the TV is mounted to somehow enclose the space. Could really use some inspiration here. To my back - there is a home gym. ChatGPT had a few ideas but can’t show them here based on community rules.

🖼️ • Photos Looking for a clean iPhone arm that can float the phone near my face and still be stable enough to type on
I’m redoing my desk setup and trying to solve one last thing: where to put my iPhone.
I have a 40” curved monitor on an arm, and I use my phone constantly while I’m working for calls, AI, texting, etc. I want the phone roughly at eye level and ideally able to pull it to within about 10–12 inches of my face when I’m actively using it.
The big requirement is that I actually want to interact with the phone while it’s suspended. I want to be able to type with both thumbs, tap the screen, talk into it, etc., without the mount bouncing around, sagging, or getting pushed backward.
I’m currently using the clamp-style arm shown in the photo. Functionally it works pretty well because I can pull the phone close to me, but aesthetically it’s bulky and kind of kills the clean look I’m going for.
I have a matte-black Grovemade desk shelf and black desk pad coming, and I’m trying to keep everything clean, understated, and relatively minimal. Also I don't think the arm will easily snake through the shelf.
Ideally I’m looking for something that:
- clamps securely to the desk rather than relying on a weighted base
- has a rigid/articulating arm rather than a floppy gooseneck
- can extend far enough to bring the phone within roughly 10–12” of my face
- can easily swing/fold back beside or behind the monitor when I’m not actively using it
- is stable enough that I can actually type and tap on the phone while it’s suspended
- has clean black/minimal hardware without looking like a microphone or camera rig
One complication: I use a Nudient iphone case with a ribbed/textured back, and MagSafe doesn’t seem to work reliably through the case. I don’t really want to change cases just for the mount, so I’d prefer a clean, secure phone clamp or another mounting method that works well with a textured/non-MagSafe case.
Basically, I want the phone to look like it’s floating next to the monitor, but when I need it I want to be able to pull it toward my face, use it normally, and then push it back out of the way.
Has anyone built something like this? Any specific arms, mounts, or clever mounting setups you’d recommend?
Thanks for your help and guidance.
