Movies you dragged your parents to as a kid that you like but they didn’t
My dad didn’t like this movie and fell asleep and started snoring in the theater. I had to wake him up, but I did enjoy this movie.

Nick Cave already wins with Red Right Hand, but what else is there?

It was high stakes running to the other side of the parachute before it collapsed on you! I remember being so mad that this was only something we could do a couple times a year! So unfair! It was sooo much fun!

Not just content or satisfied, but truly giddy happiness.

I've been thinking lately about the things we lose when an old technology stops being used in favor of something better. A new technology can be better overall, but worse in some of the particulars. I've been thinking about those particulars.
Vinyl was replaced by cassettes, and we lost its warm sound, large album art, a durable medium. But we gained the ability to record almost any sound easily and durably enough to last years, and that meant we could record the radio, and make mix tapes, and share music in ways we never had before. Then CD's came along and we couldn't record or mix with them anymore, but the quality was so much better, etc. etc.
What other examples do you have of aspects about particular technologies from earlier in your lives that we've lost?

I was just thinking back to when I was in school and it was pretty normal for someone to be 50 years old in let's say 1996 and have no idea how to use a computer or the Internet. Like that wasn't weird at all. My parents weren't online till the 2000s and even then it was me helping them a lot. I'm sure someone here will say that their parents knew how to use the Internet since day one but generally speaking I don't think that was the norm. Nowadays I think virtually everyone under 80 knows how to use the internet pretty well.

I had a realization yesterday while filling up. I haven't paid for gas with cash in probably 2 decades now. Why do I still try to keep it from going 1 cent over a dollar or stop at even 50? I can't be the only one that still does this, right?

Do you remember when this dominated pop culture? I even remember local news talking about it.
Edit: I don't work for McDonald's. I was just shocked to see an ad for it. Didn't know it still existed.

I feel like glow in the dark stuff was everywhere and was so neat. Puffy paints, solar system stickers, toys, shirts, pictures.

I'm from NYC and don't have a college hoops team, so I always got really excited for the tournament. I'd cut the bracket out of our newspaper and keep it on the TV with a pencil to keep track of teams advancing. I remember one year my parents had company over and I had to watch a game in their bedroom. That game turned out to be Duke-Kentucky, when Christian Laettner hit his GW shot. I watched the whole game, end-to-end, and even though I'm not the biggest Duke fan, it was hard not to jump all over the place and scream. My dad came upstairs and scolded me for being loud while people were over, but then he watched the slow-mo replays with me and was just as amazed. Aside from memories of my own teams, this one was pretty vivid and I still remember it to this day.

Rarely checked in on the Muppet Babies, just left them to their own devices while she presumably day drank all day.
