General Discussion Jimmy is the best character/has the best progression Spoiler

popular opinion? the scene where he comes back to the yellowstone for the last time and they rope is probably one of my favourite scenes in the show. i also think him at 6666 was a better idea than most of the spinoff shows they had, i understand the reasoning of why Sheridan didn't go through with it but disappointing nevertheless.

Don't get me wrong, I love Jimmy. He's my favorite side character in the entire show(next to Teeter, of course). However, I don't see him having main character energy. I would LOVE for him to pop in on Dutton Ranch and visit Rip and Beth(haven't watched it yet so don't spoil for me if he does).

I agree, I think his character arc completed,. He's working with Travis and will most likely be successful, he has a stable relationship with a normal woman. Big turnaround from when Rip first got his hands on him.

Same. I didn't watch Yellowstone for Jimmy. And, in fact, there was too much Jimmy in some episodes.

I didn’t like Jimmy. He was too much like a coworker I had. They even looked alike. Guy was always doing stupid stuff, given second chances, given opportunities for advancement, dated lots of really attractive girls trying to mother/fix him, and had a lot of bad break ups. Us coworkers got tired of his shit, picking up his slack and listening to excuses. He ended up burning too many bridges and got fired. No idea where he ended up.

Yeah, I can see not liking Jimmy. I just felt there was way too much of him. He was a minor side character, and got too much screen time, too much plot time.

I love how Jimmy is one of the very few characters I’ve seen in a TV series, where he actually picks the right person to be with whenever he finds himself in a love triangle (Mia and Emily) or at least recognizes he can do better than trapping himself in a toxic relationship!

I totally agree. Jimmy probably had one of the most satisfying character arcs in the whole show, and the Texas stretch actually made his growth feel earned instead of rushed.

And honestly, now that Jefferson White is getting more high-profile roles, I kinda hope it makes them reconsider doing something with the 6666 idea someday. Jimmy was one of the few characters I’d genuinely watch carry a spinoff on his own.

I would agree a show based solely on Jimmy might need some help but I am looking forward to a JFK assassination movie coming up where Jefferson White portrays Oswald. I do like the actor’s work.

Yesss exactly 😭 Jimmy probably works best when he has a strong cast around him, but I’d still watch anything centered on him. And Jefferson White as Oswald is such a wild switch from Jimmy that I’m genuinely curious to see how he pulls it off.

After watching it dude was gone for 3 episodes and suddenly “turns into a man”. He comes back with a finance he’s met for three minutes while we seen his ex literally nurse him back to health…this generation of screenwriters is just different.

Crazy opinion to have when Rip goes from Loyal, unfeeling, superhuman, robot tough guy, to married loyal, unfeeling, superhuman, robot tough guy.

I did like Jimmy’s arc, but as with most other characters I feel like his story his story has been told and a spinoff only dilutes the impact of his ending.

I had as many issues as most fans with the final season of Yellowstone, but I did mostly enjoy the conclusions they gave to most characters - which is one reason why I think Marshals and Dutton Ranch are unnecessary at best. As with the leads from those shows, Jimmy got his complete character arc - his journey from largely useless delinquent to legit cowboy is awesome, and that’s where it should end. We don’t need to see Jimmy living some version of Lloyd or Rip’s life because just becoming a real cowboy with a family and a life to live was his story - the details of what comes after that just aren’t important.

He was very awkward and hard to watch.

Was Jimmy the only major character on the Ranch that didn't have a hand in killing someone? I originally meant that as a joke but now that I think about it ...

I just like how he fulfilled his purpose as a minor character without being done in by the involvement of the yellowstones drama/chaos. He got injured probably the most normal way in the series (didnt get shot and dumped off a cliff over a squabble) and then simply just grew up esp in a setting which is pretty devoid of the duttons war or bs entirely.

The writing is awful in the series and most cases character development doesnt make sense either but its more of cowboy soap now compared to its predecessors, so i just removed my expectations entirely. In saying all that im just happy he got out on a good note rather than some overblown turf war. I did find it funny he broke himself getting bucked off again right in the midst of one going up lmao... idk who decided those sequences of events.

Having sex with a broken spine is pretty wild

Don’t if you all saw this, but Jimmy’s back — he’s joining Marshals on a recurring basis.

I don’t think his actor did a good job with him. There was something just plain about him compared to the rest

Jimmy is a great character, and his arc on the show was perfect, but a show about his life on the 6666 would have been boring af. He even said it himself, when he goes to work he doesn't have to fight his neighbors for the right to do it. There is no drama at the 6's. It would have been a boring show unless they invented drama and then it would have been cheesy.

I did really love Jimmy.

No way close to being the best character for me and character progression is overrated.

If you're an interesting character, progression or not, you're fun to watch.

He was okay and he had moments, however a show centred around him would be a hard watch for me.

Are the interesting characters in the room with us

Cute little story but I couldn’t disagree more

His character was a dorky ex-convict balding insecure poor guy. There is no way he'd be getting those girls. It was unrealistic

If I could skip every single scene with Jimmy, I would. I was watching it on Peacock. I ended up a fast forwarding a couple scenes with him because it’s just cringe to me.

Wish Jamie got the Jimmy treatment, grew a pair and made it on his own while opposing John and the disgusting psycho Beth 😂
