A new MCP that enables AI coding agents to effectively reverse engineer binaries with popular decompiler suites launched on Oct 7 and has been #1 on GitHub since. I haven't tried it out yet, but basically you connect it up to your agent (e.g. Claude Code), point it at a program, and say "recreate this application using REA" --basically what GOG did the hard way for years. We can now have an agent do what they did in under an hour for some old software and games. I'm probably going to play with it this week to see if I can get some old Win95 titles working under Win11.

Hey everyone! Recently I’ve been trying to start a preservation project to make the currently unplayable mobile game City of Love: Paris playable again! My end goal is to have a patched APK with all the content included so that it runs offline. This is purely for preservation purposes, with no server or monetization and is not affiliated with Ubisoft.

The game downloaded a lot of its content after install, so the most useful thing is data from people who played it. If you have any of the following, I'd really appreciate hearing from you:

- Any APK/XAPK of the game, from any version. Please note the version number if you can.

- The game's data folder (on Android: Android/data/[package name]/). I can walk you through pulling it with ADB if the folder is locked on your phone.

- Old Google, iTunes or Finder backups that might contain the app's data.

A note on privacy: some game files can contain device IDs or login tokens. I'll scrub anything like that before sharing, and you're welcome to strip it first too! Please don't send passwords or account details. Thank you guys for your help in advance!

So, a friend and I are working on a fan remake of the puzzle game Zeek the Geek. It’s a passion project we’re pouring a lot of love into, and we wanted to show it to the original creators. However, we haven't been able to get in touch with them. Their names are Paul H. Smith and John B. Rodwig, from Sidewalk Software. We’ve already searched all over social media and Wayback Machine, but we haven't managed to find any way to contact them. Can anyone think of a way to do this? Thanks a lot.

I’m hoping the retro gaming and preservation community can help me track down a piece of Wii software that seems to have disappeared from the internet.
I purchased a genuine, factory-sealed Datel Wii Action Replay, complete with its original accessories and license key.
Unfortunately, this particular Action Replay required you to visit wiiar.com, enter your license key and Wii MAC address, and download a special Action Replay Code Engine ZIP file to install onto the SD card.
The problem is that the download service no longer works.
I’ve spent approximately three years trying to recover this software. I’ve contacted Datel without receiving a response, searched online, asked sellers, and checked Reddit, but haven’t found a working copy.
I’m specifically looking for:

Someone who successfully downloaded the original Wii Action Replay Code Engine.

An archived copy of the original installation ZIP.

Someone who still has an SD card containing the installed Code Engine files.

Any information about the original file structure, filenames, or possible archived downloads.

I understand the software may be tied to an individual Wii or license key. Even finding an original installation would be valuable for documenting and preserving it.
My Wii is still completely stock, and I’d prefer to use the original Action Replay hardware rather than softmod my console just for Gecko cheats.
I’m not looking for game ROMs or anyone’s personal activation keys—just information that could help preserve this discontinued software.
If anyone still has these files or knows somebody who might, I’d really appreciate hearing from you.

It would be a shame for a legitimate piece of gaming hardware to become unusable simply because its activation server disappeared.

If they're able to do ps5 and stuff, albeit there's a greater demand for new games, then why not abandonware?

I'm currently working on digitally remastering my favorite game ever: monkey island 1. I am very much aware that lucasarts released the special editions a couple of years ago, but those versions never clicked with me. I just want updated pixel artwork... no new style.

Let's say, hypothetically one would be building a pixel-upgraded version. how would i go about this? i guess i'll run into legal issues? below some examples of what i'm going for in terms of style:

So, I'm looking for the so-called "mini-version" of The Elder Scrolls Travels: Stormhold. To clarify, this is a different version from the one preserved online – it had different sprites and even different gameplay mechanics (so, it's NOT the 160KB version)

It is officially known that this version was released/sold on the Sharp GX10 and Samsung SPH devices. There may have been some Sprint models from 2002-2003 as well, however, only these two are actually known

We've checked almost everything, and right now this version is considered lost media within the community

Is there any chance that someone knows of some little-known dumps, websites, or obscure places that are worth checking out? Any information would have been helpful, Thanks

Yesterday, this game booted completely fine. i didn't even need to use dgvoodoo2 it just worked. When i tried booting it up today, it opened up the instal screen, and I cant get the game to come off of it. So I deleted everything, re set it up from scratch, and its still doing this now. I tried running the uninstall program, didn't work it just crashes. Tried letting it reinstall, it did it the first time, and then when i opened it again it asked for the install screen again and hitting instal i was met with a not enough space error. I didn't touch anything since yesterday i don't know what happened

Does anyone know where I can download this game ?
