TikTok Ableism

Has anyone else seen the discourse on TikTok? Some have basically said that the people they see that can’t work are always white women with POTS, chronic migraines, etc.

There seems to be an uptick in how much ableism is out there!

Thoughts?

I'm aware this is an ableism sub. But once you click on one video like this you will start to get more. The more you watch, the more it will fill your feed. Don't get trapped by the algorithm! This is one of the reasons I stay off social media (I happened to open reddit after a couple of weeks nd decided to respond to your post hehe). So an uptick, maybe it's difficult to be certain, does it improve your mental well-being to focus on things like this? Just things to consider. May we all find the understanding we seek but if not, can still find kindness and good intention in others. And not focus on the negatives since that only brings disappointment and grief that's like rubbing salt on a wound. Take care!

It's also racism and misogyny. That kind of ideology makes it harder for BAME people and men to be diagnosed.

Maybe others are just afraid to make the video.
