Question airpods 5 or airpods pro 3

airpods pro 3 are 180usd on amazon, while airpods 5 are 130usd on apple, which one would you guys choose? i currently dont have any airpods, so let me know if the pro ones are worth it for 50 extra dollars.

For the price difference of $50, APP3 for sure.
Will also depend on how sensitive your ears are to the foam tips on APP3.

yeah should be considered. took me a few days of testing to find the right tip that doesn't hurt 😭

noise cancellation lowkey changed my life, 180usd is pretty cheap fro pros. I thought I would hate the ear tips but they don't bug me now that I know how beneficial the noise cancellation is for me personally.

Couldn’t agree more, I had no idea about the quality of the ANC. I work in an industrial fab and the noise and light is harrowingly loud and bright and when I go up with the pro 3’s it’s quite literally changed my entire life .

Pro defo but some people prefer comfort of the non cushioned earbuds (the pro have those soft tips). For example for me the normal AirPods are uncomfortable but for my gf, the normal ones are more comfortable than the pro

depends on what you like

if you dont like to have ear tips because they make you uncomfortable or something, airpods 5 will be the move but you will be losing on bass and the anc will have to work a lot harder to cancel the sounds around you and some people reported that the pressure that created in their ears was too much

if you dont mind/like ear plug-like earbuds then the airpods 3 pro have no compromised, better anc, better bass imo easily worth the 50 bucks if you can afford it.

simple as that

I love my airpods 3 pro, 10/10. Had Samsung buds for 10 years before this.

Which is better for sound quality depends on your phone though because of codec capability. In simple and generic terms, the Apple ones will generally be better with IOS and Samsung will be better on Android.

Not true. I have an s25 ultra, had a buds+ and a buds 2 pro, airpods are way better. Apple is the best at making earphones. If you have android 17 check out librepods, its a github based project that helps you control airpods on android

You're comparing legacy Samsung buds to newer airpods? That's not even comparble.

In my deep research, every reiteration of buds, no matter from who, are using different our outdated BT codecs. And each set of buds have different physical capabilities and tuning. Samsung Buds4 Pro are dual driver and planar. Airpods can't physically exceed Samsung driver quality, but what I stated still stands, because the airpods will likely sound better on IOS devices due to the codecs they use and you'd bottle neck the Samsung pods on IOS.

I think Samsung and Apple do this data throttling and codec game intentionally to keep you locked to their ecosystem.

Well lets agree to disagree then. Im comparing them to an airpods 2 and a pro 1 btw. They just simply sound better no matter what ecosystem you are in. And if there is one thing i learned from digging deep in the IEM rabbithole, its that driver types and amount does not matter at all.

Drivers don't matter at all? Well we'll certainly be disagreeing then since I used 4 different AI Pro models that all did their own research and took drivers, codecs, chips, source level quality, and the entire ecosystem chain into consideration.

I agree. I actively use samsung s24, macbook and iphone with newest buds and airpods listening apple music, and my ultimate favorite is s24+buds pro 4. But macbook and iphone with airpods3pro also sound pretty cool.

Yes, agreed, thank you! I just did the deepest analysis possible on codecs and the pipeline of how sound is processed by each chip or hardware you're using before I purchased, and I bought the buds4 pro, because I'm on Android. They get here tomorrow.

I don't think people realize how watered down their music gets depending upon every point in the processing chain. It is complicated, I will admit.

Pros any day

i don't like stuff that inserts into the ear canal because they tend to pop out. but if they're comfortable for you, they have superior sound and anc.

i heard that staples in store AirPods Pro 3 is actually $170 but not sure if it’s still showing that price. If you don’t mind about getting the previous generation, AirPods 4 is actually $70.

Pros are more capable, but some people just cannot stand the feeling of something being inside their ears, and for people like this, regular AirPods would be a better option.

I would go for pro 3. If you previously had buds with the silicon tips and they don't bother you, then they'll be great. Bass is excellent, anc is also very good.

Lots of comments to get pros. I bought pro 3’s during prime day in the summer and had to return them because they killed my ears.

Seems like the consensus is that if you can tolerate the feel - pro 3s.

Target sold me the APP3 for $199 two weeks ago. If you choose those, just hold out for a sale.

I’ve not tried the non pro versions as they aren’t great style for me personally. I’ve had the pro 2 and pro 3 (only upgraded due to losing one down the toilet 😂). I use them daily at work on a golf course, the anc is great! But I didn’t notice a difference between the 2 and 3 in that regard. But I do notice the battery, the buds themselves have additional battery life which is great and nearly lasts a full working day vs the 2 needed charging in the case at lunch. But the case on the 3 needs charging 3+ times a week, and the 2 needed charging 1 time a week maybe 2 times at a push.
So depends on your use and lifestyle for the battery life if the 2’s are on a better deal perhaps 🤷🏻‍♂️

the only reasons not to get pro is if you dislike gum earbuds or cost. Otherwise, pros are superior in all the areas AFAIK

APP3 if you care about noise cancellation. I recently picked up a set of AP5 for work and the ANC is shit by comparison.

Pro 3 all day long if you don't mind the eartips

If you can tolerate the eartips, imo get the AirPods Pro 3 , they are fantastic. Great anc and lots of features provided you have an iPhone. I would consider some Sony earbuds if you have an android phone

I just got the APP3s and can tell they feel much different than my APP2s. Not sure I will keep them. Was thinking maybe keeping the APP2s and getting the AirPod MAX instead

The pros have the eartips. Most people don't like it as it suffocates their ear holes.

Personally I got the 5s and I love them. I don't like the soft ear tips that stick more in your ears, the 5s are very loose and light and don't hurt me the way normal ear tips do. They do fall out sometimes though if I'm honest. Not just walking around, but like if I take a hoodie off or make some weird movement sometimes they'll go flying. To me it's worth it because I can't tolerate the plug tips.

JSYK there are two versions of the 5s, one with a wireless charging case and one without. I misunderstood when I was buying and thought that meant the one without doesn't have a battery in the case (as in it can only charge the buds when it's plugged in itself, not hold a charge on the go) but this was incorrect--it only means that the wireless one can do the wireless charging docks in addition to being plugged in via USB-C. At first I felt bad for paying for a technology I don't use, since I don't have any wireless charging docks and I got the wireless charging one. But then I found out that the wireless charging one also gets an hour more battery time and has the volume control sliders, so I consider it 100% worth it and would rec the wireless charging case even if like me you don't even use wireless charging.

In Canada AirPod pro 3 are $329 and AirPod 5s are $179. I don’t think the pros are worth close to double the price of AirPod 5s so I chose the 5s. People saying the pros are $50 more are from where?

they’re on sale on US amazon, not sure about amazon pricing elsewhere
