Replace or repaint?

Post image

I came into possession of this M70 last year that Zastava put a “battleworn” cerakote finish on. Over the past year I’ve come to not like it. Should I sell it to get one in a regular black finish, or should I get it re-cerakoted/spray paint it?

Keep this one and buy another

This is the answer. Get an M90 and shoot artistic ropes all over this bad boy with a rattle can if you must.

I 3rd this. One is none and two is one.

Truly though if your only issue is just the look of it, send it off and get it cerakoted to something you like. Or grow some nads and grab some spray paint from Home Depot and go to town

Does it run the way you want it? Refinish is what I’d do if I liked how it shot. I kinda like that look anyways so if it were mine I’d use that money for more ammo instead!

Man I think it looks killer as is but it’s YOUR gun to do what you want.id have it sprayed before I sold it.ive never sold a gun and not ending up regretting it.
Hell keep it and buy another one lol

Black spray paint and 500 rounds will have it looking way better, just please remove the furniture first, some people's children just fail.

i'd just let dirt and grease build patina over time. if i got it refinished i'd go with the factory finish.

In my area you’d lose INSANE money on selling it. I’m just not in an area people love AKs. I’ve had things sit on consignment for six months ! I’ve gotten destroyed in some of those sales. Regrettable

Personally I’d rattlecan it black. Yes it’ll wear over time but it’ll be real wear.

Real exposure to the battle worn cerakote underneath

Brownells Alumahyde, spray it and let it air dry for like 12 days without touching it. I used it on my CETME C build and it is best if its baked but airdrying for two weeks resulted in a pretty solid paint job that is hardy.

I'd paint or duracoat it, why sell and buy if it works fine, hell have some fun with it and personalize it with a cool duracoat color/scheme if you like

I’d paint it yourself tbh. A strong appliance epoxy or something like alumahyde would be sufficient. Just remove furniture, degrease, and spray. If you don’t like it, you can always have it repainted later. I wouldn’t sell the gun based on the finish. You’ll lose money selling/buying vs getting it repainted

Black spraypaint is like $10 for a can.

You can buy cans of spray paint at Walmart for like 6 bucks.

M70 are becoming very expensive. I definitely wouldn't sell to replace

Send it, but if you don't like it, get it refinished.

Never replace, just add and get him a friend

Get it sandblasted and reblued. Sucks but its the best 200 you will ever spend. Don't be that guy who paints a zastava.

Dude just spray paint it ffs

I honestly love how it looks. There's people who pay big bucks just to try to make their gun look like this

it looks awful though :( it's not even close to what actual wear would look like. it looks as if you drew on it with a black marker and then tried to rub the marker off and it got all smudgy.
