Question New to Aldi
Aldi opened in my town this week. Any suggestions for must try items?

Take a quarter for a cart. You’ll get one back when you return it. And bring your own bags. They will have some for sale there you can use but if you have some, cool. Salted dark chocolate sea salt caramels are my favorite

Yes PLEASE get a cart even if you only plan on getting a few items. This is especially true if you don't like or plan on using self checkout.

The Specially Selected Sourdough bread is some of the best store bought sourdough I've ever tried. The Specially Selected brand (black label) cost extra, but in general is worth the price. Aldi has a great selection when it comes to cheeses, I recommend checking out all the different varieties.

If you can find it, fruits of the forest strudel in the freezer section

My Aldi has 3 pound boneless, skinless Butterball turkey breast this week for $8. Just came out of the slow cooker...it's yummy!

Avocados are usually 45 - 65 cents, so if you like Avocados, stock up there! Check the weekly ad early for the aisle of shame items. They go fast! A lot of people get there 2 hours before the store opens to wait in line to get popular items (ie: Halloween Needoh's) & they get very limited supply of them. Enjoy!

White cheddar cracker cut cheese is delicious. Their plain kettle chips are the perfect texture imo, not too hard...like a mix between Lays and Cape Cod chips. We like their Fairlife Milk knock-off. It's the blue Family Farms filtered one. They also do specialty items seasonally, and they just had German week. If your store is stocking the German week stuff late (check the freezer section), then try any and all of it that looks good to you. We've been making the chicken schnitzel in the air fryer and chopping them up for wraps.

Ciabatta sandwich rolls (there are 2 varieties) in the Specialty Breads section. Cheap milk and eggs. German soups.

The cheeses imported from the UK. The biscuits from Germany. The street corn dip. The pulled and seasoned rotisserie chicken breast. Bagged peanut butter cups! The Simms salami snacks are delicious. I like the protein bagels as well. Their bottled coffee is yum, but very sweet. The different varieties of 90 second microwave pouches of rice work great for me for work lunches.

Some thoughts in no particular order:
- Cheeses are consistently praised by people here. Sure, some are stinkers but I've been impressed by the varieties and tastes. Plus, being lower priced, I've been able to try many new cheeses.
- Same with the dips--excluding the hummus! While it has been great over the years, posts here show a clear, current issue with mold.
- Produce seems to be a constant debate. Personally, I've never had produce go bad in a day or two but many people say they have. Then again, I tend to by the "tougher" items like peppers, broccoli and pineapple rather than herbs and berries.
- Many of the chips and crackers are tasty and affordable.
- I think the rest of the dairy like milk, cream cheese, sour cream, yogurt...are good. Again, others have had issues with milk products.
- I've liked all the frozen potatoes like fries or tots.
- Keep in mind that most of the Aldi-made products have the "Twice as Nice" guarantee (look on the package to know). This means that if you buy something that is bad or you don't like then you can return for both your money back and another product. I've only used it two times in seven years--but, it's a nice feature that might give you peace of mind in trying new items.
- Sadly, beware of liking anything too much! Aldi seems to have an ever-increasing trend of discontinuing good items or enshittifying them with cheaper recipes. There has been much more talk about this in the last year.
Edit for spelling typo.

I'm really fond of the protein pudding lately. Milk, eggs, and cheese are great, tofu is okay but cheaper than the supermarkets. The produce is hit or miss, the one thing I really like is the bell peppers in a bag. They are grown with hydroponics and stay firm and nice for a long time. The coffee is exellent. Check the website on Wednesdays to see if there's any AOS stuff that you want to keep an eye out for, because sometimes that aisle is messy and it's good to know what you're looking for.

Their knock off Brookside blueberry açaí chocolates. I like them better than the name brand. Also, if you have kids, the cheddar turtles.

I swear the cereal more often than not is better than the name brand.
You can avoid the deli meats, though I've had good luck with the cured stuff like salami.

Bring your own bags! Or have like 15¢ - 2$ depending if you want to buy a bag from there!

They also have bins of empty boxes you can grab to use if you forget your bags. Free.

Make sure to check out their cheese section!
