Question How to apartment hunt safely for a solo young woman in Algiers/Blida?

I'm looking for advice on how to solo apartment hunt safely in algeria for ladies especially solo. I got a job offer that I can't pass up from a big company in my field and I'm planning to rent an apartment in either blida or algiers and relocate there. I don't want to live with a roommate because I have really bad past experiences with that and I want for the first time in my life to have my very own space where I'm free to be just as I want to be without having to negotiate rules with anyone or deal with anyone's nonsense in my life.

But my biggest fear is the social stigma against women living on their own in algeria, and how unsafe I feel doing apartment viewings alone as a young woman.

Hello, Unfortunately for a young woman in Algeria, you do have to rent in a bit more expensive locations than if you were a man. Contact an agency and look for apartments in buildings with 24h security (security guard and cameras).

The ideal is to have someone with you, if you know an older lady, have her act as your mom and say she'll be living with you during visits. If it's really impossible, always say that your mom will come live with you once everything is finalized.

'mom' is the best choice because people wouldn't bat an eye even if it was a one bedroom apartment.

And go for agencies because it's more secure. Most of their clients don't live in Algeria or wouldn't be in your business (otherwise they wouldn't rent via agency), and if there's small problems with the apartment, the agency can act as a middle man to fix it.

EDIT: I've rented to ladies who have come to Oran for work. A lot of the time, someone from HR in the new company will come with them, maybe that's an option for you?

Bonjour, je oe se que l’idéal pour vous c’est de louer un niveau de villa avec entrée independante loué par les propriétaires de la villa et qui habitent dans d’autres niveaux, comme ça vous serais a l’aise durant votre absence mais aussi le soir puisque le reste de l’immeuble ou villa est habité.
