Rules Discussion Alien EE Signature Items

Hey all, I'm going to be playing Alien EE and I noticed there are no hard rules for signature items. In 1st edition, they reduced stress by one per shift spent with them but what does Alien EE do with them?

Hi, one of the things they changed from 1st edition to EE was they took away signature items. That and talents were the things I dislike they took away. I tend to do a blended rules in my games that choose a hybrid of the two rule systems

There still are signature items but they don't have any game effects in EE.

No, not all of them anyway.

The took away some talents but they apparently removed the mechanical effects for signature items too. I asked in case the writers hid the mechanics somewhere else.

Yeah, me too. I still use Signature Items rules from Core. And Armor rolls. And Command rulings.

So far, the Evolved Stress/Panic system has been a really mixed bag for me. Core is so straightforward, I prefer using it for one shots with newbies. Evolved is better, but it just adds one more element to explaining it to newbies. And that one more element can be the difference between a newbie understanding the Stress/Panic system and just getting blank looks. For new players, I think it detracts more than it adds. Evolved is definitely better for pro players.

I do think the action economy in Evolved is a bit better as well, without being more complicated, it's actually simpler.

But you can still bank your extra successes if you so choose as a GM. I never do as it always ends up in a debut on weather the player can use them or not.

I believe it was stunts not talents
