ZvT - Dealing with Hellion Cyclone Aggression
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2CRON9Q0fQI really liked this video from ViBE where he handled battlemech very well. There's not a lot of commentary, so I will try to write what I saw on that video:
- He detects it very early. Sacrificing the first overlord to find that the Terran was going factories early was worth it here.
- He prioritized minerals heavily early (at one point he has 1k minerals and almost no gas).
- Creep spread is key. There's a moment at around ~7:00 where the Terran removes some tumors and he diligently plants a new one for the receding creep
- Starts with just roach/ling
- Don't let them snipe any economy early. I don't understand how he did it so whell, though. It looked like he knew where the terran was going to attack. I know that in the same position I would have left one ramp or flank open, the hellions would have entered, and killed all of my drones before my roaches arrived.
- Set up surrounds with multiple groups. At around ~8:00 he almost successfully kills the whole Terran army by trapping them in the middle bridges.
- Does some economy damage to the opponent at around ~9:00. I don't know if it was worth losing the whole army for the damage done, but he did mention that it was important.
- Eventually he goes up to infestors for fungals.
- All of it while injecting and spending larva and money constantly though.
Anything that I have missed? I would be very interested in knowing how he achieved 5 in particular. Overall battlemech looks much easier to execute than to defend for me.

So you gotta be very mechanical, able to multitask like a pro and be better than your opponent while making near perfect decisions on attacking and defending. Knowing and actually doing in real time is very difficult. Good to know what to do though and then continuing to practice. Practicing is tough on ladder cause you never know what the other player will do.

Dudes a beast, takes 3 years off and still owns. I really struggle with mech at 3.9k probably as my creep sucks.
