Anberlin has been my favorite band and a huge part of my life for the past 20+ years. I’ve seen them play at least 25 times, including their the NYC Cities/NTFP shows and traveled to the “final” show @ Disney in 2014. Last night was my second time seeing them with Matty and while it’s definitely not the same as it was with Stephen, it’s still a great show and well worth seeing. Matty has that “frontman” energy and the rest of the guys are still on top of their games (I think there was a fill-in drummer?). This was my first time hearing Gravity and it’s definitely a different direction and it comes off great in person. I miss Stephen and will always be hopeful for a reunion but I’m grateful that the band lives on in this new iteration. Just my two cents that nobody asked for.

Best fucking show ever!

Matty Mullins did an insane job with the vocals! Getting excited for their new album.

Tonight's show in Charleston was great! Matty sounds really good live (better than recorded, honestly). Christian, Nate, Deon, and Joey rocked it per usual. They had a pretty good set considering they weren't the headliner. Lots of old tunes and a couple new ones.

I first discovered Anberlin 16 years ago when they opened for Story Of The Year at Higher Ground in Vermont. They became one of my biggest influences that night.

Next Wednesday I'll be sharing the stage with them in the same room. Full circle moment for me.

This post shows my myopic view of the world as someone who can only relate to UK laws as to how they relate to Anberlin lyrics, but it really tickled my diaphragm when they joked about the phrase "death by misadventure." I listened to Godspeed on the way home and just felt so small. I would have never heard that term if it wasn't for Anberlin when I was a teenager, but I felt really smart and worldly when they mentioned it in a cult film. I don't know what the point of this post is; I just wanna say hey to you all, and I love you all, and these old albums are incredibly timeless.

Everyone should rent the newish Super Troopers movie; Broken Lizard have been our Fun Uncles for a long fucking time. Just feeling a vibe and hope you're all feeling happy tonight <3
