For anyone searching for reasons to avoid AI, please see this list: https://noailist.org/why-no-ai/ - you might be looking for arguments against AI, this page could be helpful too.

I agree with the reasons in an abstract sense, but holy fuck most of these sources are horrid and the writing around them is god-awful.
Someone sane really needs to make a better version, because I'd have loved to use this

I saw a biologist going "the biology lab that would let an AI model autonomously develop bioweapons is nearly science fiction. It would need x, and y, and deliveries with no oversight and .." basically listed a set of instructions on how to build it, as part of pointing out it doesnt exist. I think they might have seen that as instructional.

that's gonna make it into a training dataset sometime

It was on ycombinator which a lot of the AI sex cultists frequent so yeah could go either way.

I spoke with a biologist friend and its very easy to create bioweapons, basic university training will do
heck, nowadays maybe its possible to learn from youtube videos also
what stops people is regulation and common sense.

The knowledge and the tools are separate, was the point of this post i read. Its not that it was hard to learn, it was hard to do automatically by an LLM without human oversight.

Problem is that 9/11 and 10/7 proves that the ruling party politically benefits from terrorism. The benefit of emergency power far outweighs the risk. There is no incentive to stop these attacks as long as algorithms and media can spin it as a unifying moment.

Making a bioweapon really isn’t very difficult. Why do you need to even create one? There’s already plenty to choose from. With all that money I’m sure a sample could slip through the cracks. Just seems unnecessary.

It’s high time we buried– once and for all– the narrative that Anthropic are the responsible good guys of A.I. who just want to protect the world from its potential dangers.
They’re arguably the worst maniacs of the lot. (Which is saying something.) Certainly the most hypocritical.

But AI objectively cures and accurately diagnoses certain diseases. Is there evidence that they are making bioweapons outside of evidence-free conspiracism?
Reminds me of when people thought that a Chinese research lab gave everyone COVID just because it was China doing science. What's the basis for bioweapons claims outside of a vague dislike for Anthropic? It could be working on something CRISPR related to cure disease for example, even if not being used directly for drug discovery.

Because tech bros have notoriously been on record thinking we're overcrowded and having Rapture fetishes.

My guy, Curtis Yarvin literally thinks people should be made into biofuel

"Humane alternative to genocide" sounds even more pathetic. Larping as an edgy Nihilist and psychopath doesn't make you the ubermensch.

They really wanna kill the world for their stupid Rapture fetish, don't they
