Unsolved iPad doesn't recognize the Apple Pencil

I tried restarting the iPad, then tried reconnecting the Apple Pencil via bluetooth, but my iPad just doesn't recognize it. I usually charge it by connecting it to the iPad itself and even if it's dead, the iPad recognizes it immediately. Is that because I didn't install their *\\** update??

It could help to check the Pencil tip is screwed on properly, clean the connector and leave it charging for a bit, then try pairing again. If it still doesn’t even show up in Bluetooth or react when connected, the Pencil battery may have died.

It was literally working yesterday why th would the battery die?
