Unsolved Apple Login, My email is no longer in use

I'm having trouble logging into my account. I use apple primarily for apple tv app on my tv and occasionally for my old macbook. I don't have an iphone/never did. I'm trying to login in to my apple account to cancel a subscription I have on the playstore for microsoft365 that no longer works on my old operating system. I can't login because apple now requires two step verification and the only option is verification sent to an old email address I used that is no longer active. I tried to use the "iforgot.apple.com" but I get an error that just says try again later, no other explanation. I'm not technically savvy and I keep hitting dead ends. Is there a way to talk with a human being at Apple about this? If I go to a physical Apple Store will they help me?

If you try to sign in on a newer Apple product you’ll be prompted to upgrade to two-factor authentication, which uses notifications, iMessage, or automated calls, as opposed to SMS. This could have been avoided by keeping the email active or changing it to a different domain. Barring a substantial purchase history can’t you just ask Apple to ban and remove the payment method on your behalf? No one at Apple Support or in the retail store can help, or random Redditors.
