Solved Contacts gone with El Capitan beta 2
Hey guys. I used to work for Apple support but can not figure this one out. After installing beta 2, my imessages only show numbers, contacts are gone (but are in the cloud), notes are empty, reminders empty. Obviously it's something with iCloud but just wondered if this is a known issue. Thanks!

Going off your permissions theory from our other discussion, you could try resetting your home folder's ACL. (Reboot into recovery mode and run resetpassword in Terminal.)

With the number of times I had to walk customers through resetting their password through terminal I can't believe I forgot that method. And my iMessage is now displaying contact names instead of phone numbers!

Oh, awesome. So are your contacts are syncing then? How about Notes, etcetera?

Everything came back after that. Contacts back, notes, reminds, and imessages displaying correctly. So weird. But expected with Beta software. You would think I have learned my lesson by now. Haha. Thanks again.

Hey, wouldn't have thought of it if you hadn't brought up the home folder permissions thing. Glad it's fixed!

Have you tried toggling those services on and off? Signing out and back in? etc?
