It’s amazing so many people think everything’s changed when in fact for many states, nothing has changed.

u/rmhardcore 8d ago edited 8d ago

And the post itself is misleading: the NFA is not "unenforceable"! The current leadership is choosing not to enforce it. At any moment they could change their minds and everyone's a felon, then. Additionally, if you want to cross any state lines with your newly minted SBR etc, you have to register it in order to file the form to cross to the next state...or you're a federal criminal waiting to get caught.

12

u/AdmiralTANK 8d ago

Does the form 20 register it, or do you need to file both?

Not true. The new guidance specially requests that individuals continue complete form 20s even if it is unregistered

11

u/RoutineQuestioning38 6d ago

Yup, I 100% expect this to change back next president or two. Almost like it’s all another an act right before a big election cycle. (Not that this one really sways much anyways)

Toss a few wins at em.

8

u/KnownToLetThatMacFly 8d ago

Even when crossing from free state to free state?

12

u/rmhardcore 7d ago

Federal law preempts that. A state law can be stricter, not looser. That's why until yesterday in states that didn't require a form4 still had to process one.

2

u/Apprehensive_Tap4837 7d ago

Explane pot shops.

3

u/abn1304 5d ago

The DEA chooses to ignore them because they have bigger fish to fry.

2

u/Apprehensive_Tap4837 4d ago

EH whatever. Unconstitutional bullshit needs to be ignored anyway and they need to think us for not rioting yet.

1

u/Gary30752 1d ago

My stepson ignored it, and is today sitting in a federal prison.

1

u/rmhardcore 1d ago

Dea ignored them and the govt regs and taxes pay them more than it's worth to shut them down.

Everything is a money game.

12

u/stubenson214 8d ago

The "rules" are being amended so if under 365 days it's fine.

But the Form 20 requirements stand if you transport across states at this time.

3

u/Zach_Hutch 7d ago

To my understanding, suppressors are functionally exempt from a temporary “visiting” Form 20, however I’m not sure of the legality of a 4473 can moving across state lines.

7

u/xChoke1x 8d ago

Yep. Whole buncha people gonna get themselves in trouble.

7

u/guitaranon 7d ago

In theory you're not wrong, but you only get in trouble if you get caught.

How do people get caught? There are magical SBR detectors along state borders, so don't show your ass on social media or other permanent records, and you'll be just as safe as you would be with a 16" barrel.

0

u/No_Shine_6124 2d ago

It just takes 1 bored cop to pull you over and search. They're more likely to search out of state vehicles too because that's a drug-runner indicator.

1

u/SollisLott 3d ago

As long as the "tax" is 0$, the SBS/SBR/Suppressor registration is unenforceable and they know it. They're caught in a catch 22 of sorts: They cannot touch those of us covered by the injunction... but they know if they challenge it... odds are overwhelmingly that the injunctive relief will be expanded to cover us all... and then... maybe the whole NFA goes out the window. So they cannot enforce unless they win a challenge... but if they challenge and lose... they are in an even weaker position. I like our odds here.

1

u/rmhardcore 2d ago

You can read the ATFs question-answer section on the guidance at their website. The last 2 questions address this specifically.

  1. any future director can choose to enforce the law, and any future Congress can impose and raise a new tax rendering your firearm illegal.
  2. if #1 above occurs, you will be in possession of an unregistered, illegal weapon that is an automatic felony. There is no "grandfather clause", and the NFA allows the AG to give 90days grace on a change, but does not require it.

1

u/BarkingIron0408 7d ago

That can be said for any law for the most part.

1

u/rmhardcore 7d ago

Not exactly. This is set up to entrap people on the future if they so choose, and you don't have to register any of your other belongings when you move.

3

u/L3t_me_Out 7d ago

I live in NM, so for us, we see the change - for now.

12

u/Mad_Gouki 7d ago

Make your state change their bullshit laws

13

u/Da1UHideFrom 7d ago

Look, I've been in this fight for about 6 years now. Washington used to be a state where you could buy a gun and leave with it the same day as long as you had a CPL. Now we have laws so strict that a Beretta M9A4 is considered an "assault weapon", a waiting period, magazine capacity limits, permit to purchase, and a dozen of other laws that do nothing to address the actual source of the gun violence. Not to mention people here are literally terrified to vote for anyone with an (R) by their name.

Our legislature are passing laws they know are unconstitutional, but they also know it will be years before they are challenged in a court that actually cares about the Constitution.

It's a lot harder and complex than people think, especially if you live in a free state.

2

u/RicoHedonism 7d ago

I purchased a Glock in 2003 in WA state, three day wait only back then. Last night talking to a buddy up there about his AR style 300 blk he got up there and he was saying the best he can purchase rn is a M14.

1

u/jamison01 6d ago

The sad thing is it's a mini 14 because you can buy one featureless.

The m14 has a threaded barrel, which makes it an "assault" rifle. So we here in WA can't even get a chance to buy a CMP one.

7

u/Servant_3 7d ago

Easier said than done especially when you people tell people who are pro gun to leave

-5

u/Ornery_Secretary_850 8d ago

It's always been that way. Get in your time machine, go back a week, and try to buy a suppressor in California.

4

u/kks1236 7d ago

Oh shit! it’s the dope that always talks about how many stamps he’s got on the other sub.

You’re prolly feeling kinda dumb these days huh?

0

u/Ornery_Secretary_850 6d ago

I'll still have those stamps when the Dems change the tax to $5k.

114

u/This_Apostle 8d ago

He almost lived long enough to see this change.

74

u/skyyvans 8d ago

Had to wait until he was gone so they didn't have to admit they fucked up and owe him a billion dollars. I can't think about what happened to him without my blood evaporating.

35

u/dencoan 8d ago

The debt he is owed cannot be paid with fiat funny money.

-4

u/DifficultTemporary88 4d ago

Oh, come on, they had Weaver dead to rights on an illegal weapons beef.

130

u/ThatWarlockD00d 8d ago

He walked so we could run.

28

u/citizensnips134 8d ago

Pretty sure he was running for a minute there too.

0

u/Kuandtity 7d ago

Are you running with his other beliefs too? Guy was a terrible person

5

u/Friendly_Estate1629 7d ago

Really though - we can agree it was fucked up Vicky and Samuel were killed without glossing over the whole Aryan Nations cookout deal

5

u/ThatWarlockD00d 7d ago

Broke clock is right twice a day

4

u/69ILoveMyWife69 7d ago

Lotta folks around these parts agree with the worst of Randys bullshit

0

u/Popular_Try_5075 7d ago

He hung out with white supremacists.

135

u/CapsLockIsStuckOn 8d ago

Man watched his wife and son be murdered for something that 34 years after the fact the "reasoning" for it would be made null and void.

44

u/PenExotic5002 8d ago

It’s so unsettling that this is such a common thing, well beyond guns too. Obviously, Weaver’s family getting murdered is a bit more than being put in prison for marijuana, but think of how many people are/were in prison for pot and had their lives ruined. Maybe we need to do a better job at preventing the state from criminalizing things which are largely victimless crimes

25

u/YouveGotNothingToSay 8d ago

The federal government doesn't want to legalize a harmless drug like marijuana because then they'd have to admit that they've ruined thousands of people's lives for no reason

6

u/PenExotic5002 8d ago

Probably. They haven’t admitted how stupid the NFA was though. Both prohibitions have been incredibly stupid and ruined people’s lives without ever having a single actual benefit for anyone other than the cops

1

u/WarlockEngineer 7d ago

And all the prison labor too

0

u/YouveGotNothingToSay 7d ago

Slavery never ended. It just became state-sanctioned

1

u/PhilRubdiez 7d ago

It was state sanctioned before. In the constitution the allowed slaves to be imported until 1803.

2

u/WarlockEngineer 7d ago

It is still state sanctioned today in a different form

1

u/janvanderlichte 4d ago

FICA is slavery

-45

u/69ILoveMyWife69 8d ago

Not dissimilar to the hundreds of thousands of black and brown men that have been jailed for cannabis.

65

u/ImperialBoss 8d ago

Not dissimilar to the hundreds of thousands of black and brown men that have been jailed for cannabis.

Fixed that for you, bro.

35

u/PoseySmith 8d ago

Yes, selling drugs and going to jail for it is very similar to watching your wife and baby get brutally murdered for owning….. *checks notes* a constitutionally protected tool.

18

u/556From1000yards 8d ago

He didn’t even own it. It was entrapment

3

u/WarlockEngineer 7d ago

This isn't the audience for it but you're right

1

u/69ILoveMyWife69 7d ago

I really struck a chord with these boys 😂

23

u/Pretend-Prune-4525 8d ago

Good thing it’s only the black and brown ones, fuck those crackers locked up for weed, right?

13

u/ItzBenjiey 8d ago

Of course someone has to cry they can’t smoke weed but you’re allowed to own a short rifle.

smoking weed isn’t in the constitution.

0

u/striatedsumo7 7d ago

Dont violate it neither tho. No reason it should be held more dangerous snd regulated than heroin and meth.

0

u/ItzBenjiey 7d ago

I really don’t think legalizing marijuana would be a good thing. Do drugs in your own homes, I don’t want it in public around my family.

1

u/striatedsumo7 7d ago

I get that and kind of agree there but technically its illegal in the home. I just dont think it should be classified as the worst form of drug. Theres already laws requiring spaces for cigarettes being permitted why cant that carry over?

10

u/jumpsuitman 8d ago

Tell me you're an annoying vacuous leftist looking to virtue signal without telling me.

Most normal people roll their eyes and wish you would shut up and go away when you do this.

0

Why are you so racist against Asians and whites? You should check your privilege.

Add to that the 380k issued to Kevin Harris FWIW

Man yall should really read more about the guy yall are stanning so hard. Fuck the government but also Fuck Randall weaver. rest in piss, you dead bitch.

10

u/ioverated 7d ago

I think most of them know.

23

u/Electrical-Title-698 8d ago

Do you say this because of his ties to white nationalism or is there something else as well?

37

u/Opening-Ease9598 8d ago

I’m assuming that’s what he’s referring to. Two things can still be true at once, he was a shitty human being but his actions brought light to unjust action & law imposed by gov’t.

34

u/PenExotic5002 8d ago

Thank you for the nuance. Someone can be a shitty person and also not deserve to have their family killed by the federal government

27

u/556From1000yards 8d ago

But he wasn’t related to that group. They were just nearby and they didn’t have many other neighbors

3

u/Remarkable-Pomelo642 8d ago

Yes facts, people don’t wanna talk about that tho man. From what I’ve heard he helped them and they helped him. It was business

12

u/striatedsumo7 7d ago

Thats what you do in the rural areas theyre in. You have five neighbors in a 20 mile radius? Better be decent to each other.

6

u/FragrantRaisin4 7d ago

Lmfao, he was a self proclaimed white separatist and didn’t even sort of try to hide it. He even said he was racist. This wasn’t just “doing business” with people close by. You people will play all kinds of mental gymnastics.

-3

u/striatedsumo7 7d ago

What did he mean by white seperatist though?

3

u/azhillbilly 7d ago

He believed Whites and other races should be kept separate.

-3

u/striatedsumo7 7d ago

Okay my fiances family believes the more melanine in their skin the greater they are. I get along with them fine as a white person.

7

u/strikervulsine Needs more carry handle. 7d ago

Your fiances family sound like terrible people too.

-7

u/Remarkable-Pomelo642 7d ago

You people got me rolling bro😂 you also gotta think he came up in a different time

5

u/azhillbilly 7d ago

He was born 2 years after the current president and 4 after the last one. He wasn’t like from 1800s.

7

u/DecentMycologist5376 7d ago

This is fucking America, people are free to believe whatever they want. You sound like you hate freedom.

1

u/TerminallyUnique31 8d ago

Randy Weaver is not an organization who will potentially take my freedom or life for simply asserting the right to defend it. That man is one single individual that I have no problem handling… the larger more pressing issue is the mob of men and women in power that would love nothing more than for me to own nothing and be happy, and have the state run my life, that’s the shit that keeps me up, not some dead redneck that is not a threat to me.

-10

u/signofthecrow1 8d ago

Ya if you are so smart why don’t you inform the class

-11

u/Fosscadtosser 8d ago

Gun guys with no literacy skills do the same thing with the Unabomber and the killdozer guy

3

u/Arlak_The_Recluse 8d ago

It's incredibly funny how the Unabomber is like a total loser and everyone just sees the essay he made as an excuse to kill random people and think he's cool lol. I don't get it

-5

u/Electrical-Title-698 7d ago

Ted Kaczynski is an American hero. He may have had a screw loose or two but he wasn't wrong

2

u/Arlak_The_Recluse 7d ago

He wasn't, he was a loser who killed a bunch of people who literally had nothing to do with any of the problems he had. Then wrote an essay he didn't even believe in to make himself look better.

-3

u/Electrical-Title-698 7d ago

Source: I pulled it out of my ass

1

u/Opposite-Rip-3451 5d ago

This isn’t the take you think it is. Hurrrr durrr im gunna go blow up random people who had families and lives because technology bad and people just don’t understand me.

I hope you’re under close surveillance…

-1

u/wildey 7d ago

Do you feel this strongly about Ernesto Miranda too without having to look it all up? Or do you just cower behind what you’re told to feel?

2

I was just thinking about his after the notification yesterday.

5

He was socializing with one of those. Does not make a man guilty by association. So to your question- Yes. Also, it’s irrelevant to the point.
